I have a 2018 Ford Edge supposedly bought "brand new" was advertised "brand new" but later find out it wasn't because dealership had titled it to themselves as a loaner. A few weeks ago my check engine light came on and my husband had it checked and was a cylinder 2 fault code. He took it to our local mechanic and he said he looked with scope and saw coolant in the cylinder. My car now sits at th
... e Ford Dealership in Albemarle and has been diagnosed with the coolant intrusion issue and I have to pay for a engine. My calls to Ford were useless, they refused to help even though this issue was well known to them and I was never informed or I would have traded this vehicle in a long time ago. The service rep at the dealership said I was looking at about $7400 out the door plus an issue with "fluid leaking" on both front wheels, which is another $1000. She also said she would advocate on my behalf with Ford to see if they will cover any of this $$$ repair. We are waiting to find out their response. I have a line of credit set up to pay for this but really can't afford to put money into this lemon. I am disappointed in Ford as a Ford Mustang was my first car and my husband and I have bought several brand new and used vehicles over the years. We were life long Ford people but Ford doesn't stand behind well known (to them) defective engines so we are no longer. My choices are 1) pay $8500 to have the repairs fixed, 2) Ford assisting me with paying for the engine replacement 4) Selling/trading my vehicle to avoid the expensive repair and only getting between $2000 and 3000. Either way (unless Ford helps me) I am out around $7400-$8500! Most of all I feel like I've been driving around blind to the fact that a fire could have resulted. I frequently have my grandchildren in my car and it could have been devastating. Or my engine could have blown in the middle of heavy traffic putting us at risk of collision and the task of somehow getting it out of the road safely.Read more

I am formally reporting a catastrophic engine failure involving the 1.5L turbocharged engine in the current-generation Honda Accord. As a professional high-mileage driver, I am exposing a severe design defect that poses immediate safety risks. While driving on the highway, the vehicle suddenly exhibited severe engine shuddering, a sudden loss of acceleration, and a dashboard overheating warning.
... A certified Honda dealership inspection revealed a severe head gasket failure, confirming that engine coolant is actively leaking into cylinders 1 and 3, causing critical engine misfires. This is an inherent manufacturing defect, not normal wear. The engine runs under extremely high thermal pressures, and the factory head bolts fail to maintain a proper seal, allowing coolant to breach the combustion chamber. The safety implications are critical. A sudden loss of power and engine stalling at highway speeds forces drivers into high-risk emergency situations, drastically increasing the likelihood of collisions. Furthermore, the constant loss of coolant leads to sudden engine overheating, creating a severe fire hazard. This exact issue plagued the previous 10th-generation Accord, and it is now clear that Honda failed to implement a permanent engineering fix for the current generation. Representatives from Honda Corporate have explicitly acknowledged to me that a manufacturer recall for this exact engine defect is currently under internal consideration. Because high-mileage vehicles reach the structural threshold of this component much faster than the average consumer, this case represents an early warning sign of a widespread, recurring failure. NHTSA must initiate an immediate safety defect investigation into the current Honda 1.5T engine powertrain to prevent catastrophic highway accidents and protect the public.Read more

Recall 26V237 / Ford 26S28** Vehicle 2015 Ford F 150 VIN: [XXX] Recall Reference NHTSA Recall: 26V237 Ford Recall: 26S28 Summary of Safety Issue My vehicle has begun experiencing the exact defect described in Recall 26V237. The truck has twice downshifted unexpectedly to a much lower gear while traveling at approximately 35–40 mph. Both events caused abrupt deceleration and a momentary loss
... of rear wheel traction. Events • Two unintended downshifts in the past two weeks • Speeds approximately 35–40 mph • Abrupt wheel speed reduction consistent with recall description • Rear tires briefly slid until speed decreased • “Check Engine” light illuminated • Powertrain warning indicators present Diagnostic Findings My independent mechanic retrieved five powertrain related error codes. He confirmed the codes align with the recall condition and that the downshifting behavior is consistent with a transmission control module fault. Safety Concern The recall notice states that this defect “may result in a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.” Because the issue has already occurred twice at moderate speeds, I am concerned that a recurrence at highway speeds could lead to loss of control. Remedy Delay Ford and my local dealer (Colorado Springs, CO) informed me that the software remedy will not be available until June 30, 2026. The recall notice states that the remedy is “not yet available.” Current Status Given the active defect, warning lights, and repeat occurrences, I believe the vehicle may be unsafe to operate. I am considering parking the truck until a remedy is available. Request to NHTSA I am reporting this because: • The defect is already occurring • The recall remedy is delayed • The vehicle may be unsafe to drive • I want this documented in case the issue is more widespread or requires interim action I am requesting NHTSA review this case and determine whether additional guidance or action is appropriate. Upon starting my Jeep on the coldest day of the year back in January when I pressed the brake pedal to start it there was a loud and it reminded me, there was a recall out for the break booster pop and the pedal went all the way to the floor. It was fifteen below zero out.So I thought that it blew a brake line. I checked the lines going to all four.Wheels and could not find any fluid. I could not
... figure out where all the fluid went. I refilled the reservoir with two full cans of brake fluid. Tried pumping the pedal and again it went to the floor. Got out and inspected all lines and the reservoir itself.... Still could not find a leak. I googled the problem and saw a recall for the brake booster. Said it was installed incorrectly and water could enter the booster and master cylinder and freeze if cold outside and cause a serious accident causing serious injury or death. I inspected the system and water had entered the booster and master cylinder and froze. It ruined the master cylinder. I asked the dealership if they would pick up the vehicle and repair it. First they said yes then no they don't pick vehicles up. They ordered only a little shield to fix the booster per the recall but said that's all they would do. Why would I pay $200 out of my pocket to have the vehicle taken to them.Only to have them put a shield on the booster. I still would have no brakes. That is ridiculous. This is supposed to be a major safety issue. And it is! If I had been driving when I pressed on the brake pedal and it went to the floor I could have been killed or other innocent people could have been killed. The vehicle has experienced repeated high‑voltage battery system failures consistent with the symptoms described in the current open safety recall for this model. The vehicle first displayed a “High Voltage System Fault” warning, loss of A/C cooling, and inability to charge. A dealer confirmed an HV isolation fault and documented an isolation reading of only 38 megaohms, which is far below n
... ormal and indicates a dangerous high‑voltage isolation breakdown. They replaced the front inverter (EPIC), the 3‑phase cable, and the high‑voltage cable to the battery. Less than a year later, the same “High Voltage System Fault” warning reappeared and the vehicle again became unable to charge. The dealer stated that “the same repair performed in the front is now needed in the rear,” indicating a second HV isolation failure in another section of the high‑voltage system. This suggests a systemic defect in the high‑voltage battery pack or associated components, consistent with the recall involving thermal overload, internal shorts, and isolation failure. The vehicle is currently subject to an open recall instructing owners to limit charging to 90% and charge only outdoors due to fire risk. The repeated failures create a safety hazard due to potential thermal events, loss of propulsion, and inability to safely charge the vehicle. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer multiple times. Despite this, the dealer is attempting to charge for repairs that appear directly related to the recall defect, and no permanent remedy has been provided.Read more

Incident Description:The vehicle experienced a complete internal transmission failure while driving, creating a severe and sudden loss of power on the roadway. ... utch drum sleeve. On October 31, 2025, the dealership attempted to patch the issue by replacing only the external electronic transmission solenoids. However, this did not address the true internal mechanical defect, causing the transmission to fail again immediately with the exact same symptoms.Ford has acknowledged this severe design flaw via an internal Customer Satisfaction Program but has strictly capped coverage at 70,000 miles. Because this identical mechanical failure occurred at 81,893 miles, Ford has denied all financial and safety assistance to fix the actual broken mechanical hardware. This widespread manufacturing defect affecting 10R80 transmissions causes vehicles to suddenly lose propulsion in traffic, creating an imminent crash hazard. This campaign must be expanded to a mandatory safety recall.Read more

Vehicle Information: 2020 Hyundai Palisades VIN: [XXX] Mileage: 74,212 Hyundai is mishandling Recall 292 (NHTSA 26V034000), which involves a failure to comply with FMVSS 226 and creates an occupant ejection risk. The affected seating position in my vehicle is used by my [XXX] child and is unsafe until a remedy exists. Hyundai has no remedy available and has refused to provide any written safety
... guidance or interim transportation. Beginning 5/29/26, I requested that Hyundai open a new case specifically for Recall 292. Hyundai has refused to open a case despite multiple written requests. Instead, they repeatedly redirected me to phone numbers and generic inboxes, avoiding written communication. They have not answered whether the vehicle is safe to operate, whether the affected seat can be used, or whether they will provide a loaner or rental while no remedy exists. Hyundai also claimed to have sent a Zelle reimbursement on 5/28/26 but refused to provide a timestamp needed for bank verification. When asked again in writing, Hyundai ignored the question and repeated the same deflection responses. Across multiple emails (5/29, 6/1, 6/1), Hyundai ignored every recall‑related question, refused to provide written guidance, refused to open a case, and refused to address the child‑safety implications. This appears to be a pattern of procedural and substantive non‑compliance with recall communication requirements. I previously had to involve the Maryland Attorney General regarding Hyundai’s handling of another safety‑related issue on this vehicle, indicating a broader pattern of evasive behavior. Our truck started hard shifting and lurching almost a year ago, the check engine light will come on, sometimes the truck will go into safety mode, then the check engine will be off. The problem progressed and we had it diagnosed as a bad transmission control valve which we were made aware is not available to get replaced because of the ongoing recall on other vehicles in the same year range as our
... s, just not ours specifically. We need to get this fixed and if others are getting it fixed on recall ours should be as well. Otherwise we have a barely usable vehicle, that my husband relies on to get to work, sometimes hours from home, with no way to fix it, a year left of payments, and diminished value because of the transmission issue...that again others are getting fixed at no cost to them. Even without the recall we can't get it fixed because all available parts are going towards the recall. We deserve to have our vehicle added to this recall so we can get in line to fix it. We have been loyal customers for over 20 years to our local dealership Rydell Cheverolet. The incident date is ongoing for over a year but I will put in the most recent date where my husband was almost stranded 300 miles from home.Read more
