Shortly after we took possession of the car, I noticed that the warning that I was not holding the steering wheel would light up when I was holding the wheel with both hands in the 10-2 position. Flipping my fingers while continuing to hold the steering wheel was sufficient to switch the warning off. Also I was frequently being advised that the steering assist was inoperative and that the stop and
... go assist was inoperative. On August 21, 2025 when I was driving in I95, the various warnings described above appeared on the screen. The hands warning sign would not go off although I was holding the wheel correctly. A warning chime began and then a message that the system was initiating an emergency stop. I accelerated briefly and the warning disappeared. On August 28, 2025 I took the car to the dealer for assessment. I was advised that the car required a software update (Invoice no. 118573). I picked the car up on September 2, 2025. The following morning I received a telephone call from Mercedes Benz advising me that “Germany” had indicated overnight that the steering wheel needed to be replaced and I would be advised when that was available. I took the car back on September 11 for the steering wheel to be replaced. The previously described problems recurred other than the warning that an emergency stop was being initiated and I took the car back on December 12, 2025. Another new steering wheel was fitted. The problems persisted and the car was taken back. On this occasion a software update was performed. In late March 2026 when I was driving an a busy two lane road, the typical problems recurred but flipping my fingers did not work and the initiating an emergency stop warning appeared. Acceleration was not an option and there was no immediate place for me to pull off. I removed both hands from the steering wheel and the warnings disappeared. I regard these two emergency stop warnings as representing a significant safety issue.Read more

My car has been using more oil than usual here lately and im guessing thats why. Now, im afraid to drive anywhere because I don't feel like it safe and the fact that my car doesn't run good enough to drive. I was told by more than 1 person that knows mechanics, that its a issue with the catalyst and that it had a recall on it but I never received one. This is a very concerning safety issue, and one that needs immediate attention before someone gets badly hurt (or worse) because of a bad car part . My car is literally just a lawn ornament now until I can get this issue resolved. I need my car to make a living and support my family. While traveling on a public roadway under wet conditions, the vehicle was unable to stop within a safe distance despite brake application, resulting in a rear-end collision with the vehicle ahead. The primary concern is that the airbags did not deploy during the impact, despite significant front-end damage. The collision caused severe deformation of the hood and extensive damage to the front-left
... area, including the fender, bumper, and headlight assembly, with visible intrusion into the engine compartment. The vehicle was subsequently determined to be a total loss, which raises concerns about whether the airbag system functioned as intended under these impact conditions. Prior to the incident, there were no warning lights, dashboard messages, or other indications of a malfunction. The issue has not been reproduced or evaluated by a dealer or independent service center due to the extent of the damage. The incident was documented by responding law enforcement, and the vehicle has been reported to an insurance carrier. The failure of the airbags to deploy in a collision resulting in severe front-end damage may have increased the risk of injury to the driver. The vehicle is no longer available for inspection.Read more

Incident description: On three occasion I have had the same catastrophic Engine failure putting myself and my family along with the general public in harms way. My engine stalled out and I lost my ability to safety steer and stop my vehicle. This a

This sudden loss of power forced me to maneuver the vehicle to the right shoulder of the expressway across the right lane of traffic. As there was no shoulder to pull over on the left side of the highway. This created an immediate crash risk for myself and other drivers. Upon inspection at the authorized GMC dealership where I purchased the truck new, a certified mechanic determined that the engine experienced a complete failure requiring replacement or rebuilding of the engine. I paid to have the engine rebuilt at the dealership. The second instance was similar to the above incident. Once again I paid for the repair. The third instance was more dangerous as when my trucks engine failed it almost caused an accident. As of today my truck is still sitting in the dealership for over 6 months and no one from the dealership or manufacturer will give me an answer on what has to be done now. This patter of sudden repeated engine failure clearly indicates a systemic safety defect that extends beyond normal wear and tear. I urge the NHTSA to open a defect investigation into the 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 engine systems.Read more

... ad. We pulled into the high school parking lot, stopped the car, then restarted it. It had the error on the dashboard, but we were able to get it safely home, where it was towed to the dealership later. The vehicle was towed to Dick Hannah Honda (the local authorized dealership). The service department scanned the onboard computer (from the parking lot, NO actual physical inspection done) and pulled internal transmission fault codes P0730 (Incorrect Gear Ratio) and P0746 (Pressure Control Solenoid "A" Performance/Stuck Off). Based solely on these electronic fault codes, the dealership stated that the internal mechanics of the ZF 9-speed transmission had completely failed. They stated the transmission is completely unrepairable and quoted a full replacement cost of $11,984.41. Prior to this failure, the vehicle had service documentation and inspection records from authorized Honda franchise technicians, who repeatedly marked the transmission condition and vehicle health check sheets as completely healthy and "GREEN" at every visit for 60,000 miles by American Honda Motor Co. Case Management was contacted (Case #16371194), but they refused any financial goodwill assistance. This sudden operational failure of the ZF 9-speed transmission platform without ANY prior Maintenance Minders given by the computer system. This failure matches the exact software calibration and pressure defects currently cited in ongoing consumer protection litigation involving the 2016-2022 Honda Pilot 9-speed drivetrain.Read more

While accelerating up the ramp to merge, power cut out — same behavior, no warnings. Pulled over; restart restored function. Incident 3 —XXX, ~8:05 AM, [XXX] . Slowed for a turn; no power when I accelerated out. Same signature. These symptoms are identical to NHTSA Recall 24V-267 (Ford 24S24) — loss of motive power from the BCM/PCM failing to detect 12V battery degradation — and the follow-on battery recall 25V-158 (Ford 25S26). My vehicle is a 2024 Maverick and is NOT included in 24V-267, which Ford limited to 2022-2023 Mavericks built Feb 2021–Oct 2022. I am reporting because my 2024 shows the identical failure mode, including the total absence of warning before power loss, matching the owner reports that prompted Recall Query RQ24014 into the adequacy of the 24V-267 remedy. I request NHTSA consider whether the affected population should include model year 2024 Mavericks. These events are recurring and have occurred at highway speed and while merging, creating a serious crash risk. The engine oil pump failed internally. The vehicle is equipped with a factory-installed variable-displacement oil pump that utilizes an internal thermoplastic adjusting ring. Due to heat cycles and mechanical stress, this plastic component degrades, becomes brittle, and catastrophically shatters or cracks. The first symptom appeared when the vehicle became entirely unable to complete an electronic
... engine oil level measurement via the iDrive system, consistently freezing and aborting the test at approximately 15% to 20%. This defect directly compromises road safety. A sudden drop in oil pressure causes severe internal engine friction, leading to immediate engine seizure or a total loss of motive power without adequate warning. Experiencing a sudden engine stall while driving at highway speeds places the driver, passengers, and surrounding motorists at extreme risk of a high-speed rear-end collision. Furthermore, a total engine shutdown disables power-assist steering and braking, making the vehicle incredibly difficult to control and maneuver to safety. Catastrophic mechanical failure from oil starvation also presents a severe under-hood fire hazard if oil leaks onto hot exhaust components. The problem has been officially reproduced and confirmed. The vehicle was brought to Bavarian Werkstatte, where certified technicians diagnosed the issue as an internal structural failure of the variable-displacement oil pump's plastic adjusting ring. The component is currently available for inspection upon request. BMW is fully aware of this defective design. They updated this exact component in mid-2020 to an all-metal oil pump to prevent plastic fragmentation. Despite knowing that the 2019 thermoplastic rings degrade, become brittle, and shatter under normal operating heat cycles, the manufacturer has failed to issue a safety recall in the United States, leaving drivers exposed to dangerous sudden engine failure.Read more

The driver-side integrated factory LED headlight assembly experienced a sudden, complete failure of the vertical LED Daytime Running Light (DRL) / parking lamp strip. The vehicle is completely stock, and the electrical system has never been modified or altered. The component failed suddenly with no prior warning lights, dashboard messages, or symptoms. Safety Risk: The failure of the LED DRL sign
... ificantly reduces the vehicle’s forward visibility and conspicuity to oncoming traffic, pedestrians, and cyclists, particularly during daytime hours, dusk, dawn, and inclement weather. Because only one side is illuminated, oncoming drivers may misjudge the width, position, or presence of the truck, significantly increasing the risk of a front-end or sideswipe collision. Inspection Status: The failed component is currently intact and installed on the vehicle, making it available for inspection upon request. At this time, the problem has not yet been inspected or confirmed by a dealer, independent service center, manufacturer, insurance, or law enforcement.Read more

Component/System Failure: Front driver's seatback cover assembly (Nissan Part Number: 87650-9HB2B). The factory structural stitching on the center backrest panel is actively unraveling and separating. The component is available for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: The seatback cover serves as the structural envelope for the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Side-Impact Airbag. Because t
... he structural factory stitching has failed, the engineered tension of the airbag housing unit is compromised. A unravelling cover cannot ensure the precise breakaway path required for the side airbag to deploy correctly. This structural defect poses a severe safety liability, risking delayed deployment, non-deployment, or improper trajectory of a critical safety restraint during a collision. Inspections by Others & Dealer Confirmation: The physical separation of the stitching was presented to and verified by an authorized manufacturer dealership (Hubler Nissan) on April 21, 2026. The dealership acknowledged the physical failure of the stitching but refused to perform a factory-certified repair. Nissan's warranty claims the restraint system is covered for 60,000 miles, yet the dealership officially advised me to take the vehicle to a third-party, non-certified local shop ("Dr. Vinyl") to repair the structural housing of an active explosive device. This creates an unacceptable safety liability for both the vehicle occupants and Nissan. Warning Lamps & Prior History: No active dashboard SRS warning lamps are illuminated, as the fault is a physical structural breakdown rather than an electrical failure. The issue first appeared prior to 36,000 miles and continues to progressively worsen.Read more
