The failure involved the transmission valve body control valve within the automatic transmission system of the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban, a critical component responsible for regulating hydraulic pressure and controlling gear shifting. The malfunction caused erratic and unreliable shifting behavior, including hesitation, harsh engagement, and loss of proper acceleration; the failed component is in t
... he custody of Northside Chevy in San Antonio, TX. This issue created a significant safety risk, as the unpredictable transmission response impacted the driver’s ability to accelerate when necessary (merging onto high traffic roads) and increased the likelihood of dangerous situations like rear-end collisions or loss of control. The problem was confirmed by an authorized Chevrolet dealer, where diagnostic testing identified faults in the transmission control system and verified the failure through performance testing and fault codes. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership service department, though it has not been directly examined by the manufacturer, law enforcement, or insurance representatives; however, documentation of the diagnosis is being withheld by the dealership. Prior to the failure there were no warning signs present. Only after failure did the check engine light illuminate, transmission-related warning messages, and noticeable symptoms such as hard shifting, delayed engagement, and slipping, which appeared shortly before the complete failure and significantly worsened over the three-mile drive to the dealership.Read more

I am filing this complaint regarding a persistent low beam headlight failure on my 2016 Kia Rio that has not been resolved after a paid repair at an authorized Kia dealership. The low beam headlights on my vehicle stopped functioning. I brought the vehicle to Car Pros Kia in [XXX] for diagnosis and repair on XXX.. The dealership diagnosed the issue as a faulty Body Control Module (BCM) and replac
... ed it on XXX. The dealership released the car to me with a 25-point inspection reading that all exterior lights were functional. The repair did not fix the problem — my low beams remain non-functional. I returned the vehicle on May 15th, 2026 so they can remedy the repair. They released my vehicle to me a second time with no functioning low-beam headlights. On XXX, the dealership is now quoting $3,205.01 for a wiring harness replacement as a third repair attempt, with no acknowledgment that the original diagnosis was incorrect. My vehicle was returned to me in an unsafe condition following a paid repair. Non-functional low beams are a safety hazard, particularly for nighttime driving. I am aware that Kia has a documented history of headlamp low beam connector wiring harness failures across multiple models, including extended warranty coverage and TSB ELE179 issued for similar issues in other Kia vehicles. I am requesting this complaint be added to the record for the 2016 Kia Rio. If other owners are experiencing similar issues, I believe this warrants investigation. VEHICLE: 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport HSE, Original owner since February 2023. NATURE OF DEFECT: Persistent and unresolved coolant loss from the engine cooling system, with evidence suggesting leaked coolant is contacting hot engine components and creating a potential fire hazard. CHRONOLOGY: Beginning in February 2026, the vehicle began displaying recurring "low coolant" warnings on the ins
... trument cluster. The vehicle has been presented to an authorized Jaguar Land Rover dealership three times for warranty diagnosis and repair of this complaint. On each of the three visits, the dealership replaced a single cooling system component (a hose or O-ring). After each repair, the low coolant warning returned within approximately two weeks. The most recent repair, completed on May 26 2026, involved replacement of an O-ring on a lower coolant hose that had been previously serviced under JLR safety recall N785. The vehicle was returned to me on Thursday, May 28 2026. On Tuesday afternoon, June 2 2026 (approximately five days after the most recent repair), I detected a distinct burning odor from the engine compartment while the vehicle was operating. On Wednesday morning, June 3 2026, I visually inspected the coolant expansion tank and confirmed the coolant level had again dropped below the minimum mark. SAFETY CONCERN: The combination of recurring coolant loss and a burning odor originating from the engine compartment is consistent with coolant contacting hot engine components — most likely the turbocharger, exhaust manifold, or associated heat shielding. This is the same failure mode that prompted JLR safety recall N785 (NHTSA Campaign 23V-221) on 2019-2022 Range Rover Sport PHEV vehicles, in which leaking coolant onto the turbocharger heat shield was identified by the manufacturer as creating an increased risk of fire. ... ile driving at high speeds for example both instances have been on the interstate doing 75mph. I will loose all power of my vehicle but I still am in control of it. This to me is a huge safety concern due to the fact I am driving at a high rate of speed. Yes I understand it has been twice in three years but this is not a normal circumstance. I have had a local shop take a look at it and both times they have found nothing major except a loss of a quart of fluid. Due to the fact there is multiple information available out there on this similar event so it is not a fluke I believe it is more a coincidence with the 10r80 transmission by ford. I am reporting it because in my personal opinion this is NOT normal or typical behavior for a transmission, I only have 110,000 on my odometer so yes I can definitely see high mileage being a factor but if that is the case why has my transmission not finally given out yet? My 2016 Kia Soul (1.6L GDI engine) experienced a catastrophic, sudden engine failure while driving, preceded by Check Engine Light code P0420 (Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold). This exact failure sequence is the precise subject of active NHTSA Safety Recall Campaign 19V120 (Kia Campaign SC176).Although the vehicle received the mandated SC176 preventative software update in 2019, the und
... erlying mechanical defect was not cured. High exhaust gas temperatures caused the catalytic converter to degrade and fracture internally. The fractured abrasive substrate particles were then siphoned backward into the engine combustion chamber during normal valve operation. This caused immediate, severe scoring of the cylinder walls and piston damage, leading to total engine seizure and failure. This defect presents an extreme safety risk. Sudden engine failure at highway speeds causes an immediate loss of motive power, braking assistance, and power steering, significantly increasing the risk of a high-speed collision. Furthermore, fractured connecting rods or oil leakage stemming from this specific engine failure pose a severe vehicle fire hazard. The vehicle is currently held for diagnostic verification at Kia Riverside in California. I am filing this complaint because the manufacturer's 2019 software remedy was entirely ineffective at preventing the mechanical destruction of the engine and catalytic converter. I am requesting that the NHTSA hold Kia accountable to fulfill the physical repair and replacement mandates of Recall SC176 at zero cost to the consumer, regardless of the prior software logging.Read more

I own a 2021 Ford Escape Hybrid SEL, VIN [XXX]. The vehicle currently has approximately 104,708 miles. The vehicle has developed a shuddering, vibration, and chatter condition during low-speed turns, parking maneuvers, backing up, and other tight turning situations. The condition is most noticeable while turning in parking lots and at low speeds. The vehicle was inspected by a Ford dealership wh
... ile it was being repaired for a separate engine concern. During that inspection, the dealership diagnosed a rear differential/internal clutch concern and provided an estimate of approximately $2,709 for repair. After receiving the diagnosis, I learned that Ford issued TSB 25-2351 regarding low-speed turning chatter, vibration, and shudder concerns on certain Ford Escape vehicles. My vehicle is experiencing symptoms consistent with those described in the bulletin. In addition to the vibration and chatter during turns, I have also noticed abnormal noises from the vehicle during low-speed maneuvering and when shifting into park. The condition appears to be worsening with continued operation. I contacted Ford Motor Company and opened a customer assistance case regarding this concern. I later contacted Ford again to update my case and advise them that my vehicle is experiencing symptoms consistent with TSB 25-2351. Ford advised me that there are currently no recalls, special coverage programs, or customer satisfaction programs available for my VIN. I was advised to keep my repair records and receipts in the event a future recall or reimbursement program is issued. I am submitting this complaint so that this issue can be documented and evaluated. I am concerned about the continued deterioration of the rear differential or rear drive unit components and the potential impact on the safe operation and reliability of the vehicle. The problem has been reproduced at other shops/dealerships and is a very common almost guaranteed issue with these vehicles.Read more

I have a Lincoln MKZ Hybrid 2012 with 88k miles on it. While I was slowing to a stop as I approached a stoplight at a busy intersection, the 'Check Brake' warning on the dashboard lit up without warning and no prior issues, and my ability to brake became near impossible as the pedal softened. I needed to push it all the way to the floor to get the vehicle to stop. I shifted into park and turned of
... f the vehicle - following turning it back on, the dashboard warning disappeared, I was able to brake again, and the warning has not come back since. My vehicle just passed inspection earlier in the month, and nothing with the brakes came up. This is a critical safety issue! It could have been potentially fatal to myself, my passenger, or other drivers if I could not stop before the intersection, or if this had happened while I was on a main road or highway. I took it into the Ford Lincoln dealership. They cited a faulty HCU/ABS module and recommended replacement, but all parts are after-market at this point and would not come with a warranty. OEM replacements are also extremely difficult to come by. The repairs would take around $3.8k to complete, which is close to the current value of the vehicle. Ford issued Safety Recall 19S54 in December 2019, covering 600,166 model year 2006–2010 Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan, Lincoln Zephyr, and Lincoln MKZ vehicles for the exact same defect. No recall exists for anything in 2012 despite at least 17 NHTSA complaints have been filed for the 2012 Lincoln MKZ alone for this specific brake failure. The 2012 MKZ and Fusion use the same braking system architecture as the recalled vehicles. The failure mechanism is identical. The safety risk is identical.Read more

While driving down a freeway, my car shuddered and my engine suddenly lost power and was put into limp mode. Mechanic determined it was the high pressure fuel pump that failed. This vehicle was part of the recall for the low pressure fuel pump that was completed. It also had to have fuel injectors replaced under Honda’s extended warranty over faulty injectors.

I am submitting this complaint regarding a serious safety defect affecting my 2015 Jeep Wrangler. More than a year ago, the ABS module in my vehicle failed. Since that failure, the ABS warning light, brake warning light, and traction control warning light have remained illuminated. As a result, my vehicle no longer has functioning Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), traction control, electronic stabi
... lity control functions, or cruise control. The loss of these safety systems significantly increases the risk of an accident, particularly during emergency braking situations, wet road conditions, loose gravel, or any circumstance where wheel lockup or loss of traction may occur. Without ABS, the wheels can lock during hard braking, increasing stopping distance and reducing steering control. Without traction control and stability control, the vehicle is more susceptible to skidding, fishtailing, and loss of control. I have contacted multiple Jeep dealerships seeking repairs. I have consistently been informed that the ABS module required to repair the vehicle is unavailable and has been on indefinite backorder. Dealership personnel have been unable to provide any estimated availability date or permanent repair solution. While researching this issue, I discovered that numerous Jeep Wrangler owners have reported the same ABS module failure. Online forums, dealership service departments, and consumer complaint websites indicate this is a widespread issue affecting many Jeep Wrangler vehicles. Owners have reported waiting several years for replacement modules, with some being told the part is discontinued or unavailable indefinitely. Dealership personnel have been unable to provide any estimated availability date or permanent repair solution. I believe NHTSA should investigate this issue as a potential safety defect affecting Jeep Wrangler models. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate the widespread ABS module failures, the ongoing lack of replacement parts.Read more
