Parked my car at home at 3pm on 11/20/25. At 3:07 my neighbor banged on my front door & told me my car is on fire. The fire was under the hood with flames emerging in front of the windshield. Called 911 as we got to safety. Within minutes, the car was engulfed in flames & we watched as it went up in flames, with popping sounds, glass breaking, alarms going off, & the siding melting off the house,
... etc until the FD got there. They put out the fire, & checked the home- the car was a total loss, & the front of the house needed major repairs. We had a fire investigator come within days seeing that the fire was hottest on the drivers side. A report was submitted for insurance, as well as claims to car and home. No warning lights, or problems appeared prior to. My insurance company did not report anything to Genesis, so I reached out on 1/3/26, & they sent me a letter offering a $1500 good faith settlement but wanted me to exclude/release myself from any further future claims, actions, etc. They claim they were not given the option to do their own investigation (the car was in my driveway for 2.5 weeks). The insurance company said they'd reach out the them- so we did not. We looked at the pile of ash, & smelled chemicals for weeks. I countered their offer (as Genesis cars from this year (& more) have had fires & mine could potentially be included). They were reviewing my offer for a month & asked if I retained a lawyer, or just got guidance (I just got guidance). They declined my counter offer, & four days (2/17/26) later they overnight-ed their initial offer, stating I had 5 days to accept, or my case would soft close on 2/25/26. I recently asked to have the case reopened. Genesis continues to issue multiple recall notices affecting various models, increasing the risk of fire. I am now reporting this in the hopes someone else doesn't have to go through what I did. I have more documents if needed.Read more

I am submitting this letter to formally report two ongoing issues with my 2018 Buick Enclave. First, I have experienced persistent problems with the emissions purge valve. My vehicle has repeatedly triggered diagnostic trouble code P0496, indicating a malfunction in the purge valve system. I am aware that this issue has been the subject of recall campaigns for other Buick Enclave models; however,
... my vehicle has not been included in any such recall, despite exhibiting the same symptoms. This malfunction has resulted in persistent check engine warnings and noticeable performance concerns, raising questions about emissions compliance and the overall reliability of my vehicle. Given that other vehicles of the same make and model year have been recalled for the same issue, I respectfully request that my vehicle be reviewed for inclusion in the recall. Second, I am formally reporting a malfunction involving the stabilizers. Recently, I have noticed unusual noises and instability when driving, particularly when turning or traveling over uneven surfaces, which indicates a potential stabilizer malfunction. These issues have persisted despite regular maintenance and inspections, affecting the handling and safety of the vehicle. I believe this may represent a manufacturing or design defect that could pose a risk to other owners of the same make and model. I respectfully request that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigate this matter further. I kindly ask the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to consider expanding the existing recall to encompass additional vehicles affected by this defect. Please advise if you require further information or documentation regarding my case. The vehicle is a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta (VIN [XXX]). The primary malfunction appears to involve the vehicle's electrical and starting system. The vehicle intermittently displays a "Starter System Faulty" warning message and has shut off unexpectedly while driving, particularly during periods of hot weather. The exact failed component has not been definitively identified, but the symptoms are consis
... tent with an ignition switch or electrical system defect. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This defect creates a serious safety risk because the vehicle can lose power and stall while in motion. The unexpected shutdown places the driver, passengers, and surrounding motorists at risk of a crash, especially when driving at higher speeds or in traffic. The problem has occurred multiple times and has persisted despite repair attempts. More than $1,000 has been spent on repairs related to this issue, but the problem has not been resolved. The vehicle has been inspected and repaired by service technicians; however, the underlying cause has not been successfully corrected. The vehicle has not been involved in a crash as a result of the defect, but the recurring stalling and loss of power present an ongoing safety concern. Volkswagen has been contacted regarding the issue, but assistance has not resolved the problem. Prior to the vehicle shutting off, warning messages including "Starter System Faulty" appeared on the dashboard. The issue is more likely to occur during hot weather conditions. These warning messages began appearing before the stalling events and continue to occur despite repair efforts. I and my wife were emerging from an intetstate highway entrance ramp when our car suddenly and completely lost power. A "Transmission Malfunction" warning suddenly (and for the first time) appeared on the dashboard. We had just completed a merge with heavy traffic going 70-75 miles per hour. Immediately behind our car was a very large tractor-trailer that hit its brakes but came within inches of th
... e rear of our car before we could get on the highway shoulder--i.e., we came extremely close to suffering serious injury or death. The car was towed to the nearest Audi dealer, where it was determined that the Transmission Control Module had to be replaced, at a cost of $8,000. The warranty on the car is 4 years/40,000 miles, while our car is 5 years, 2 months old, and has 47,000 miles on the odometer. The dealer (Flow Audi of Charlottesville) confirmed the car's problem and determined that, because of the threat to safety, the cost of the repair, and the lack of any previous warning, it should be covered by warranty in spite of the car's age and mileage, but Audi has refused to do so. Audi has been aware of this problem with Q5e (plug-in hybrid) models such as ours, as they have published a Technical Service Bulletin about it (without provision for the affected vehicles to be examined or repaired). The vehicle is still at the dealer for repair (as of 06/08/2026).Read more

I started getting a warning light in my Jeep (svc 4wd). The dealer diagnosed it as an internal failure of the PTU motor, which needs replaced. I learned that the PTU motor is a recall item for Jeeps long before mine was.manufactured, extending long past my manufacture date. For some reason, my VIN is not included, even though my PTU is failed and presents the symptoms that logically should inc
... lude it. My discussion with the repair person went so far as to suggest I always use the parking brake, just in case, to prevent spontaneous roll-away. I also learned there are many other Jeep owners facing the same problem, causing at least a month's delay in obtaining a replacement PTU to fix this problem. I believe and respectfully request that this issue should be considered a part of the original recall, to include ALL Jeeps within the stated time frame. This submission is in reference to 2019–2023 Jeep Cherokee (NHTSA Recall 26V-290 / FCA Recall 40D). Thank you for your attention to this matter.Read more

-I was driving down into an indoor basement level garage very slowly as there is a steep incline. It descends from street level to basement level within a distance of approximately 30 to 35 ft. At the end of the incline is a sharp curve to the right, followed by a sharp left turn to proceed straight. -While on the incline, the car was slowing to a stop. I gently tapped the accelerator to keep i
... t moving. -The car suddenly lunged forward, rapidly accelerating. The acceleration was not consistent with the amount of accelerator input I applied. -I quickly steered right to avoid hitting the wall, then immediately steered left to avoid hitting parked cars and garage columns. -I braked as hard as possible, pumping it. The brake pedal was stiff. The car kept moving forward despite my efforts and did not stop until I crashed into a parked car at the end of the garage. -My son was in the front passenger seat. We both had seatbelts on. Other than whiplash, there were no major injuries. -There were no warnings, messages or any indications that a problem was present prior to the incident. -There was no one in the parked vehicle that was struck and no other people in the garage. -My cell phone automatically alerted emergency services. The police responded, and I reported the incident.Read more

Related Recall: 24-01-023G DTC P1A9096 CHECK FOR ICCU & FUSE REPLACEMENT & ICCU SOFTWARE UPDATE (RECALL 021G) On August 8, 2025 I was vacationing and attempted to charge the vehicle at a hotel's level 2 destination charger (32 amp) but the vehicle refused to charge. I then drove 20 minutes away to DC Fast Charge and it worked, and tried level 2 charging again, it still did not work. I ruled out t
... hat the level 2 charging station was the problem due to seeing someone else successfully charging from that station. When I returned home, I found that my home charger also stopped charging at 32 amps (though slower 16 amps still worked). On December 14, 2025 I was driving on the highway when I heard a loud pop noise and the vehicle immediately lost propulsion, resulting in a dangerous situation where the car needed to limp at low speeds to the side of the road. There, the car fully lost all mobility and needed to be towed to a Genesis dealership. They diagnosed the problem as a faulty ICCU, and replaced it as well as installed new software to prevent this situation from reoccurring. In May 29, 2026 the vehicle once again no longer charges at 32 amps at home. The charging would initiate and last a few minutes before fully disengaging and the car reports "Charger Not Connected". Since this is a repeat of the same ICCU failure (above), and I DO NOT wish to lose vehicle propulsion on the highway like before, I have stopped driving the vehicle until it can be diagnosed and fixed by Genesis dealership. I am awaiting for the local Genesis dealership's next availability in a week. I no longer can safely drive my vehicle until this is fixed for a second time. The issue is still unresolved as of today, June 8th 2026.Read more
