A loss of drive power can cause a

I am reporting a safety concern with BMW vehicles equipped with the B58 Technical Update (B58TU) engine, primarily in 2019–2021 model years. These vehicles use a variable-displacement oil pump containing an internal thermoplastic adjusting component that regulates oil pressure. This plastic part is prone to fracturing, leading to sudden loss or instability of engine oil pressure. Failures most c
... ommonly occur during cold starts in low ambient temperatures. When the component breaks, oil pressure regulation fails with little or no warning. Drivers often experience precursor symptoms such as inability to electronically read oil level, erratic oil pressure, or sudden drivetrain warnings. The issue can rapidly progress to engine shutdown or severe damage from oil starvation. This creates a serious safety hazard, as the vehicle can become disabled without warning while driving or shortly after startup — particularly dangerous in traffic or winter conditions when failures are most frequent, potentially stranding occupants in freezing temperatures. Oil pump replacement requires extensive disassembly and typically costs $6,000–$8,000 for the pump alone, assuming no further engine damage. Owners cannot reliably determine if their vehicle still has the original thermoplastic pump. VIN-based parts lookups now display the updated metal-component part number even when no replacement has occurred. BMW has also removed the original plastic part number from dealer systems, eliminating transparency. This issue affects multiple production years and continues to impact vehicles in the fieldRead more

My husband was driving our 2018 Chevy Suburban when it suddenly stopped accelerating and he could no longer shift gears. Luckily, this happened while he was driving down a gravel road (approx 25-30mph). If he would have been driving at highway speeds, it is likely that he could have lost control of the vehicle. Our Suburban had no issues to this point and had always run well. We take it in for r
... outine maintenance. We had it towed to a local repair shop, and they informed us that something had happened with the transmission and that it would need to be replaced. I have found several GM transmission recalls and our situation sounds similar to reference N252536750. Again we had no warning signs and had been experiencing no issues with our vehicle. If this had been something that we had been noticing problems and hadn't gotten it looked at, I can understand that maybe this had been something on going for a while that we had just missed maintenance on. However, for the transmission to stop so suddenly, I believe there must be some sort of larger failure in the transmission system.Read more

Formally lodging a complaint regarding a severe manufacturing defect in my newly purchased 2026 Honda CR-V and to demand an immediate windshield replacement under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. I purchased this vehicle less than six months ago. It currently has under 6,000 miles on the odometer and has been driven exclusively on local back roads, not highways. Despite this exceptionally light
... and careful use, a hairline stress crack has spontaneously developed on the windshield. The crack originates completely hidden beneath the black frit at the extreme edge of the glass and spread inward without any external impact, rock strike, or user error. Extensive research indicates that this is a widespread, documented engineering failure on Honda's part, not an isolated incident. The automotive industry and consumer protection forums are flooded with identical complaints regarding the 2023–2026 CR-V generations. To meet weight and fuel economy metrics, Honda is clearly utilizing excessively thin, lower-quality glass that cannot withstand the standard structural flexion of the vehicle's frame. This exact phenomenon of spontaneous edge-stress fracturing has been the subject of extreme consumer backlash, ongoing National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) database trends, and prior class-action litigation (such as *Hasan v. American Honda Motor Co.*) targeting Honda’s refusal to honor warranties for this exact structural defect. A vehicle less than six months old should not suffer a spontaneous windshield failure, nor should the consumer bear the financial burden of replacing substandard factory materials. Furthermore, the failure of this glass inherently compromises the forward-facing Honda Sensing camera, posing an active safety and calibration risk.Read more

Early in 2024 my VW Passat TDI SEL the airbag light would not go off after starting and operating the car. The steering wheel controls were also operation incorrectly -- the horn didn't work, nor did the cruise control, wiper controls, etc. I took the car to my local VW dealership, where it was diagnosed that the steering wheel clock spring was defective and needed to be replaced. The dealership r
... eported the component was on a serious back order, and they would call me when it was available. This presented a clear safety issue, since the airbag was non-functioning, and the horn did not work, and the other steering wheel controls were not operating correctly. I requested a loaner car until such time as the repair could be effected, but was told they would not provide me with one. Many months later, the part became available and in September 2024 the faulty steering wheel clock spring was replaced, and I paid for it. Late in 2025, VW mailed me a notice that they were utilizing an extended warranty coverage for the steering wheel clock spring replacement that I had done. I emailed my application to them, according to all of their guidelines, and 4 month later, after receiving on reply to my application, I contacted VW and was told my submission had been overlooked, but I would receive action within a few days. A few days later, the email I received from VW denied that the faulty clock spring replacement was covered by the warranty coverage for which they had mailed me to apply.Read more

Get towed back to the ford dealer and they can’t duplicate the problem and say nothing is wrong and they don’t know why it randomly shuts off and loses fuel. However it still has the same codes as initially in relation to lack of fuel. I don’t feel safe driving the car as now I’ve broke down twice same problem and fear it’ll keep happening and I may not get so lucky as to not get seriously injured as I cannot move it from the road.
