Description of Incident: While stopped at a red light at a busy intersection near a shopping district, the vehicle's Auto Idle Stop (AIS) system engaged and shut off the engine. When I attempted to restart by pressing the brake pedal — as instructed — the vehicle failed to restart. The dashboard displayed an error message reading "Idle Stop Function: Press Brake to Restart." My foot was on th
... e brake pedal at the time; pressing it did not restart the engine. I then manually shut off the vehicle using the Engine Start/Stop button and attempted to restart it. The vehicle would not start. I remained stranded at the intersection for approximately 10 minutes. I had to call the cops for a patrol car because other cars were piling up behind me and I had my 6 month old son in the vehicle. Safety Impact: During this time, I was unable to move the vehicle from a live traffic intersection. This created an immediate safety hazard to myself, my family, and other drivers.Read more

My 2017 Honda CR-V's air conditioning system has repeatedly failed to cool properly over the past several years, occurring approximately 4 to 5 times. The AC blows warm or insufficiently cold air, making driving uncomfortable and unsafe during hot weather, particularly for passengers including children and elderly individuals. I have researched this issue and found that Honda has acknowledged two
... known defects related to this problem through Technical Service Bulletins TSB 19-091 (AC condenser manufactured out of specification, causing refrigerant leaks) and TSB 23-040 (AC compressor shaft seal defect causing refrigerant and oil leaks). Honda extended the warranty on these components to 10 years with no mileage limit, however no formal safety recall has been issued and owners are not proactively notified. This is a recurring defect affecting thousands of CR-V owners across multiple model years (2017–2022). I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this pattern and compel Honda to issue a formal recall so that all affected owners are automatically notified and repaired at no cost, rather than requiring owners to discover the warranty extension themselves.Read more

I am reporting a safety concern involving BMW vehicles equipped with the B58 Technical Update (B58TU) engine, commonly found in model years 2019–2021. These vehicles utilize a variable-displacement engine oil pump containing an internal thermoplastic adjusting component responsible for regulating oil pressure. Field failures are increasingly being reported in which this internal component fractu
... res, resulting in sudden loss or instability of engine oil pressure. The failure frequently occurs during cold-start operation in low ambient temperatures. When the component fails, oil pressure regulation becomes erratic or is lost entirely. In many cases, drivers receive little or no actionable warning prior to engine damage or vehicle disablement. Reported precursor symptoms include inability to electronically measure engine oil level, abnormal oil pressure behavior, or sudden drivetrain malfunction warnings. Failures may rapidly progress to engine shutdown or severe mechanical damage caused by oil starvation. Loss of lubrication can cause the vehicle to become disabled without warning while driving or shortly after startup. This creates a safety hazard, particularly when vehicles become immobilized in active traffic or during winter conditions the cold is when they fail the most, where occupants may be exposed to freezing temperatures while awaiting assistance. Replacement of the oil pump requires extensive disassembly of the vehicle and repairs commonly exceed $6,000–$8,000 for just the pump, assuming the motor is unharmed. Owners are currently unable to determine whether their vehicles contain the original thermoplastic oil pump design or a later revised version utilizing metal internal components, as VIN-based parts information now identifies updated components in the car even when no replacement has occurred and the old components are actually in the car. Also, BMW has actively removed the plastic part number out of all dealer networks as well.Read more

I purchased my 2023 Tundra new and from the beginning it stalled or jerked. This happens especially at low speeds. This has gotten worse and the only answer I get is you'll get a new engine at some point. Around 25000 miles the fuel pump went out on the truck and was replaced. I was initially told I would have a new engine installed by April, then May and still waiting. My problem is I paid h
... igh dollar for a nice vehicle, and it's basically been a repair concern from the beginning. Passengers in my vehicle ask what is wrong with your vehicle. The stalling/skipping/jerking is that obvious. Since Toyota is aware of this major issue why am I having to wait months for a repair??? This is not good business. On top of the engine replacement I asked at that time would the new engine have any type of warranty. I was told at the dealership it would not. We own a 2021 Cadillac CT5 that we bought used in 2024 from Sewell Cadillac in Houston, Texas. During our first year of ownership, and while still under warranty, we started having intermittent issues with the rear doors. At times, one or the other rear doors would only open from the inside of the vehicle. My wife mentioned it to the dealer when the car was in for other issues, but because we coul
... dn’t reproduce it at the dealership, nothing came of it. Then in March of this year, both rear doors completely failed. Neither rear door will open from the inside or the outside, and they are still that way today. We took the vehicle back to the dealer, and they performed a software update and sent us a service video. In that video, the technician described the issue as “weird” and not something they had seen before. After a couple of days, the dealer came back and said both rear exterior door handles need to be replaced, with a repair quote of $3,950.49 (for their trouble, they also charged us $265.00 to diagnose the issue). What really shocked me was that, because neither rear door will release from inside or outside, their quote indicates they would have to cut through the interior door panels just to open the doors and perform the repair. The more I researched this, the more it became clear that this problem is not “weird” at all — it appears to be a frequent issue with the CT5, with multiple owners describing similar door-handle failures and forum discussions suggesting it may be a well-known weak point rather than an isolated event. We frequently transport our granddaughter in this vehicle and that can't be accommodated until the issue is resolved with Cadillac. I don't think I can even imagine all of the potential safety implications of this type of failure should this have happened when anyone, much less a child. They would be trapped in the rear seat of the vehicle and possible strapped to a car seat. I can't imagine a better case for a recall, honestly.Read more

when driving my car from the airport at Bradley International in CT (parked for a week), I experienced a terrible vibration in the steering wheel which has been intermittent. The vibration went away at lower speeds. I brought the car in to the shop on 5/18/2026 with 74,000 miles on the car. They told me I had to replace rotors, brakes, calipers, brake fluid, and do a front end alignment because
... the rotors have failed internally. The EV doe not use braking as frequently and this was taken from the Chevy forum: ISSUE: Frozen or Seized Calipers The Issue: Because Bolt drivers heavily rely on regenerative braking, the physical brake pads and calipers are used far less frequently than in gas-powered cars. This can cause rust and debris to build up, leading to frozen calipers, uneven pad wear, or a sticking/grabbing brakes. The Fix: Have a trusted mechanic or a dealer regularly inspect and service the friction brakes. Regular preventive maintenance like flushing the brake fluid every few years is highly recommended to prevent moisture accumulation and seized calipers. The resultant failure is a safety issue and Chevy has decided to call it a PM problem. This is not acceptable and is all over the forums as an issue for these cars. I saved all parts and had them record everything on the car, except for the fluid. There are other recalls for this component. I would like it investigated and determination made on the issue. The invoices will be in my possession tonight.Read more

While driving down the road my passenger went to open the sunroof. That involves retracting the shade first. While the shade was retracting I heard a pop and then a crunching noise. The shade then drooped into the back seat area blocking any vision to the rear of the vehicle. It also was quite startling and distracting while driving. Contacted the dealer and set an appointment to get it looked at.
... Brought the vehicle in for its appointment about a week later. Was notified that a trim moulding ( part # LJ6Z5450036A) that was held up by two sided tape fell off and caused the shade to jam up and break. The moulding had fallen off with the shade closed so there was no way to know it had failed. Was initially quoted $2500 to repair it. The vehicle was less than 60 days out of Ford’s 3 year 36000 mile warranty. I even have a Ford 8 year 75000 mile extended warranty but was told that trim pieces were not covered by warranty. I asked the dealer to contact Ford to ask for assistance in paying for the repair. Ford came back and offered to repair it for $498.38. I authorized that repair and received the vehicle back. Shade is now functional but it appears that there has been no improvement to the moulding to keep it from having a repeat failure. If the moulding had fallen with the shade open it could have possibly struck an occupant and caused issues if driving.Read more
