Steering wheel became stuck when making a long left turn while driving on the freeway. The turn lasted approximately 30 seconds. Around 3-4 seconds into the turn, the steering wheel suddenly locked up for approximately 1-2 seconds. Eventually the steering wheel was released resulting in a sudden jerk, leading to the car veering to the right lane. A correction was made using the steering wheel to m
... aintain center lane. Once again the steering wheel got stuck, resulting in the same jerk behavior. This occurred three times in the 30-second turn. I have not attempted this route since this incident. Prior to this incident, the front end suspension made a grinding noise when turning the steering wheel left (e.g., backing up into the garage). There is minor vibration on the steering wheel but not too noticeable due to the low speeds. A recall was previously performed back in 2025 to correct the grinding suspension. However, it returned several months after along with the minor steering wheel issue. I plan to report this at the next scheduled maintenance interval.Read more

There has been a safety recall for CERTAIN 2019 VW Tiguan's due to improper materials or incorrect process parameters during manufacture of the rear coil springs, which are weaker than intended (Volkswagen's recall number is 42J5). While parked in my driveway on May 17, 2026, my family members heard an exceptionally loud bang from the house and from the street. The coil spring had fractured, and
... caused damage to the rest of the rear suspension. This was confirmed by my independent mechanic, who has since repaired the problem, despite initial difficulty in getting the necessary parts. They had been told by the dealership that there was an "indefinite backorder" for the coil springs. When I called the dealership back to inquire further, I was informed that there were not many of these parts available, and there are no after-market parts available. A shortage of a non-electronic part is often due to an increased demand, suggesting the problem is more widespread than acknowledged by Volkswagen. I contend that the 42J4 recall should be further investigated, and likely extended to included additional vehicles, particularly those with the exact make, model, and year of manufacture as already covered under the recall, especially since this part is crucial to vechicle safety/handing and is generally expected to "often last the life of the vehicle". Had I been driving on the highway when this occurred, significant property damage, and potential bodily injury could have been a likely result. This poses two severe safety hazards: 1) Sudden loss of motive power, hesitation, or stalling while driving in traffic, drastically increasing crash risk. 2) Extreme overheating of the catalytic converter, creating a significant under-vehicle fire hazard. Confirmation & Symptoms: The issue was confirmed by a professional service center. They pulled diagnostic code P0430 (Front Bank Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 2). Following Honda’s Service Bulletin 20-100, the technician performed a software update and a cylinder A/F test. Cylinders #4 and #5 failed the test (running rich), requiring immediate injector replacement to make the vehicle safe to drive. Inspection by Others & Manufacturer Awareness: The vehicle was inspected by the repairing facility. Honda is fully aware of this widespread defect, as evidenced by SB 20-100 and a related warranty extension. However, Honda chose to handle this severe defect via a limited warranty extension rather than a mandatory safety recall. My extended warranty expired in October 2025. When this known safety hazard manifested in May 2026, I was forced to pay for the repair entirely out of pocket. I urge the NHTSA to investigate this known stalling and fire hazard and compel Honda to issue a formal safety recall so consumers are not left at risk.Read more

They said that because My vehicle's VIN specifies a vehicle with active head restraints, they cannot sell me otherwise. FIRE HAZARD — UNDERSIZED DC CABLE WITH UNDOCUMENTED SPLICE INSIDE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT The 2026 Midwest Automotive Designs Luxe Cruiser D6 (VIN [XXX] , Unit #[XXX]) contains an undersized negative DC cable carrying 304 amperes continuous through a conductor rated for 195 amperes (2/0 AWG copper), representing 156% of rated capacity under NEC ampacity tables. Motor-starting surge loads can exce
... ed 400 amperes (205% of rated capacity). This cable is the primary DC negative path between a 1,080Ah lithium-iron-phosphate battery bank and a Xantrex Freedom XC PRO 3000 inverter-charger. The hazard compounds at the floor penetration inside the coach passenger compartment: the cable transitions from properly-sized 4/0 AWG to undersized 2/0 AWG at a bolted lug splice wrapped in white electrical tape. This splice is located inside the vehicle where my family rides. It is not documented in any build record, inspection report, or repair order. Photographic evidence ([XXX]) reveals that both copper lug faces at this splice bear red X markings. These markings are not consistent with any recognized torque witness marking practice (which requires a stripe crossing from bolt head to mating surface). The marks represent either (a) failed-inspection flags placed by someone who identified the connections as defective and left them uncorrected, or (b) non-functional markings. Either interpretation establishes that someone examined these lugs, marked them, and walked away. The Xantrex Freedom XC PRO Owner’s Guide (Rev G, Table 5) specifies minimum 4/0 AWG for cable runs of the installed length and classifies improper wiring under its highest safety designation (DANGER) as capable of causing “death or serious injury.” The Guide further includes a FIRE WARNING for DC connections that are not torqued to 71–89 in-lb. No torque documentation exists at any service touchpoint. I rented a car from Avis on [XXX] (a Friday) for a 24-hour rental. I rented it in Manhattan, and the car (a Kia Telluride) had a New York license plate [XXX] ). But when I returned the car, the attendant took the key and wrote on the window and windshield that the car ha

The attendant said they apparently didn't know about the recall until I returned the car. I find that hard to believe. I checked NHTSA's website a day after I returned the car [XXX] ), and it said that the Kia Telluride I rented had been recalled on February 23, 2026. The reason for the recall was because "THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEAT BACK FRAME ASSEMBLIES MAY FAIL TO PROPERLY RESTRAIN OCCUPANTS IN A CRASH". That's a terrifying thought. According to Avis's recall policy [XXX] they're not supposed to rent the car and they are supposed to notify me about the recall. Avis did neither of these things. Luckily the trip was accident-free and my daughter and I are physically fine. But I think Avis should be held accountable for allowing me to drive a rental car that may have had a higher likelihood of killing us in a crash. At the very least they didn't notify me in any way. They weren't even going to mention anything about the recall, and I had to ask about it after I saw what they wrote on the windows. I also submitted a review afterward (Avis sent me a standard email asking about my experience), and I explained my frustration about them renting me a recalled car. Avis replied, but it was just a standard apology and they didn't say anything about the recall. All around a terrible experience.
