While driving my new Grand Highlander, I have experienced a serious and recurring safety issue. Even with lane assist turned off, the vehicle automatically steers to the right when I exit a regular highway — apparently misinterpreting the widening road as a lane shift. When this happens, the steering overrides my input and I am forced to pull the wheel hard to regain control and stay in my lane.

The driver’s seat backrest (lumbar support area) constantly pops and shifts (makes physical movement) while accelerating, braking, going over bumps, and when making body adjustments. I have already visited the Toyota dealership five times for this defect, but Toyota has been unable to fix the issue. The Toyota dealer first replaced the lumbar support, and subsequent attempts involved temporary m
... easures such as installing foam and felt tape, but the defect still persists. A Toyota dealer technician mentioned that the “seat lumbar is shifting around on the metal support rail.” The popping and shifting sensation has gotten worse since last year. This is very distracting and has nearly caused an accident when felt during braking. As seen on many online forums, a lot of 2025 Camry owners (the first redesign year) are experiencing this issue, but Toyota is trying to sweep it under the rug by claiming this is a normal vehicle characteristic instead of releasing an updated or redesigned lumbar support. A driver’s seat that physically shifts and pops while driving is a safety issue.Read more

I was unable to immediately stop the vehicle despite attempting to do so. The exact failed component has not yet been definitively identified; however, the incident appears potentially related to malfunction or unintended operation of one or more of the following systems: * drivetrain/transmission engagement, * electronic throttle control, * braking system, * powertrain control module, * or Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). The vehicle should be inspected for: * Event Data Recorder (EDR) data, * diagnostic trouble codes, * throttle/brake command activity, * drivetrain engagement data, * and post-collision electronic system behavior. The engine in my 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport equipped with the 2.4L Theta II GDI engine is experiencing severe excessive oil consumption. The vehicle consumes approximately 2–2.5 quarts of oil every 1,000 miles despite multiple repair attempts and dealership-performed combustion cleaning procedures. Hyundai Motor America and the dealership documented the condition under PA #[XXX] and recommended
... engine replacement. Hyundai Motor America advised me in writing that the vehicle should not be operated in its current condition because of the excessive oil consumption and pending engine replacement. Excessive oil consumption creates a risk of sudden engine failure, engine seizure, stalling while driving, and potential engine fire if oil levels drop unexpectedly. Because the engine rapidly loses oil between normal service intervals, the vehicle may become unsafe to operate without warning, placing myself, passengers, and other motorists at risk. The defect was confirmed multiple times by Capital Hyundai in San Jose, CA through two official Hyundai oil consumption tests. The dealership documented oil consumption of approximately 2–2.5 quarts per 1,000 miles and submitted the results to Hyundai Motor America under PA #[XXX].The dealership also performed multiple repair attempts, including spark plug replacement, fuel induction cleaning, combustion chamber cleaning, and repeated oil changes, but the excessive oil consumption continued. Prior symptoms included: Check engine light illumination, Cylinder #4 misfire condition, Engine noise, Excessive oil loss between oil changes, and Oil level dropping significantly within short mileage intervals. The check engine light and misfire condition first became severe enough to require dealership diagnosis on or around [XXX], when the vehicle was towed to the dealership. The excessive oil consumption issue was formally documented beginning [XXX] during Hyundai’s oil consumption testing process. My car caught on fire on [CCC] and it's completely burned down, a total loss. Following is information about my car and some summary of what happened. Car information: - Mazda CX5 2024 - Bought in June or July 2024(car payment only made 22 times so far) - Odometer 24,445mi(as of 05/15/2026) What happened: - In [XXX] Friday afternoon, I was in Bellevue and noticed an engine overheat warning. So,
... I stopped immediately to cool down and called Mazda Dealership(Lee Johnson Mazda) to schedule a service. - Then after 20-30 minutes, I started the car again and the warning was gone. So I drove slowly and got on [XXX] to head home in Kirkland. I was already driving slowly. - After a few minutes, overheat warning as well as engine warning started firing and noticed that smoke coming out of bonnet. - So, I pulled over on the shoulder near [XXX] and called roadside assistance. But even before I get connected to the roadside service, engine caught on fire and I had to call 911. - The car is completely burned down and it's a total loss. - State patrol wrote me a "Exchange of Information" and "Tow/Impound and Inventory Record". Why I am submitting this form: - This car is less than 2years old and has been seeing Mazda service regularly. The odometer checked by dealership on 05/15 is 24,445mi which is slightly more than 24,000 which is stated in the Lemon LAW. But still, the car is pretty brand new and around 24,000 ish. So, I'm wondering if this still qualifies for Lemon Law. - Even before this happened, I had a service history for engine warning and get the engine checked on 05/15/2026 which is exactly a week ago before the accident. Also, they said the engine thermostat had an issue and replaced and covered by Mazda's warranty. - Overheat and engine warning was on and off. As soon as I pull over, it caught on fire. - This happened on [XXX]. It was very dangerous and lucky that we pulled over on right before it caught on fire INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

The ABS module, which controls the brake drying feature, is malfunctioning. This BMW feature is designed to lightly pulse the brakes when the windshield wipers are active to wipe water off the rotors for better braking performance. The intervention is supposed to be imperceptible. Instead, the system intermittently applies hard, sudden brake pressure while the windshield wipers are operating. This
... causes abrupt, strong deceleration that feels like the brakes are slamming on by themselves. The problem occurs in wet conditions when wipers are on. It has happened multiple times and has nearly caused rear-end collisions or loss of control on multiple occasions. This unexpected hard braking at speed in wet conditions creates a significant risk of rear-end collision, loss of vehicle control, or accident, especially on highways or in traffic. The only workaround is to drive without wipers in the rain, which is also dangerous due to reduced visibility. I have not yet brought the car into the dealership to have it inspected but I do intend on getting that done within the week. There are no warning lights or messages to suggest there even is a problem.Read more

Toggling the steering wheel controls to view Audio or System telemetry on the primary driver's dash gauge results in an immediate, total blackout of the left digital dashboard display. Because the central infotainment unit's microprocessor is frozen, degraded, or locked up, it fails to respond to high-priority internal Controller Area Network CAN bus data requests from the instrument cluster. This creates a severe data bottleneck that blinds the operator to system telemetry directly behind the steering wheel while traveling at highway speeds. Furthermore, while the vehicle's secondary hardwired communication circuit allows background audio streaming and steering wheel track-skipping overrides to function, the manual physical volume controls, dashboard knob,Read more

The vehicle's power steering does not work properly, especially at slow speeds and when attempting to back up. However, it has also failed while traveling on the interstate highway at high speeds. When you attempt to make a turn, the power steering feels like it is fighting you and wants to pull the vehicle back in the opposite direction. I took the vehicle in to be serviced, and they replaced
... the battery which removed previous warning messages. On two occasions, while traveling at slow speeds and making a turn into a shopping center parking lot, the vehicle resisted my attempt to make the turn such that had a car been coming out of the parking lot, rather than complete the turn, I would have run directly into the side of the other vehicle. While travelling on the interstate at 70 mph, I momentarily lost steering and had there been vehicles behind or beside me at the time, I believe it would have resulted in an accident. Fortunately, the cruise control simultaneously shut off.Read more
