My vehicle has the V6 twin turbo engine that’s been recalled on other years and models and was diagnosed with an internal engine failure. The mechanic at the dealership couldn’t figure out the problem so an expert TAS Lexus specialist was called in and couldn’t figure out the problem either. They’ve had the car for 3 months and since they don’t know how to fix it they are telling me to
... just replace the engine with a used engine at a cost of $25,000. The vehicle is just out of warranty and Toyota/Lexus is refusing to cover any of the costs. The vehicle was serviced regularly so this shouldn’t have happened. This is a common problem with this model of engine. I believe it’s a design flaw as this model engine is assembled at different plants/locations and over long periods of time that would indicate a design flaw and not due to Toyota’s official stance of debris left in engine block during assembly. Toyota should recall and replace all these engines at no charge to the owner of the vehicle.Read more

The Auto Idle Stop (AIS) system malfunctions during normal driving. When coming to a stop, the AIS shuts off the engine as designed, but the vehicle then fails to restart when the brake is released. The vehicle shifts itself into Park automatically without driver input, either before or at the same time as a dashboard message appears instructing the driver to depress the brake pedal and press the
... start button. When the start button is pressed, the dash resets but the engine does not start. The only way to recover is to fully power the vehicle off and restart it, which is difficult and unsafe at a busy intersection or red light. This puts the driver and others at serious risk. The vehicle becomes immobilized in traffic with no ability to move it out of the path of oncoming or following vehicles, creating a risk of being rear-ended. The unexpected automatic shift into Park is also a vehicle control concern, as the driver does not initiate it. The problem is intermittent. The vehicle has been taken to an authorized dealer twice. On the first visit the dealer kept the vehicle several days with a loaner and attempted to replicate the issue but could not. On the second visit the dealer kept the vehicle one day and again could not reproduce it. A third diagnostic visit is scheduled, during which the service manager intends to drive the vehicle to attempt replication. As of now the failure has not been confirmed or reproduced by the dealer. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. No warning lamps appear prior to the failure. The only symptom is the automatic shift into Park and the dashboard message to depress the brake and restart, which appear at the moment of the malfunction. The first occurrence was at approximately 25,000 miles. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives.Read more

... . They did not physically inspect the fuel pump jet and gaslit me saying it was how I’m driving. Refused to actually look at the problem and then threatened that if I wanted them to look they would charge me for the labor. They did not seem concerned that a safety hazard of smelling fuel in the cab and poor fuel efficiency was an issue.manager said he knew of the active extended recall but hid behind the no code from their scanner instead of listening to the customer who voiced concerns. On 2 separate occasions, under similar circumstances, the collision warning systems, both front and rear, applied the brakes for no reason. When reversing slowly (foot slowly off brake pedal) from a parking space on an almost empty rooftop parking lot; I confirmed there was no foot traffic or moving vehicles before I started to back up. The brakes automatically applied (no screen display); I reapp
... lied the brake and was then able to reverse normally. On a normal service visit to my dealership, I mentioned the incident and it was noted on my invoice. About 3 weeks later, at a full stop at a stop sign, I was about to turn left onto another road. After confirming there was no cross traffic of any kind, and before I had completely released the brake, the collision assist engaged and suddenly applied the brakes (again with no screen display but an audible thump). Again, I was able to reapply the brake and then accelerate to make the turn. Since the same event had happened twice, I went directly to my local Hyundai Service Center and reported it. They kept the vehicle for a week and tested it thoroughly. Nothing showed as being faulty. When I picked up my vehicle on 5/22/26, they informed me that there's a known issue (NHTSA Campaign # 26V316) with other Hyundai models (not the Palisade) and that an update for the forward collision avoidance system in those models will be coming mid-summer. As the Palisade is not included in the Campaign list of makes/models, but has the exact same event/problem, I wanted to report this for inclusion in the safety recall. I was not injured in either event but anyone with this issue could potentially be at risk in the future.Read more

Power train (PTU) failed on the highway huge crash sound and then no power to wheels, transfer case visably broke due to catastrophic failure shockwave cracked housing of my rear difrential too. ... there is loss of metal but im sure it was violent enough to blow some fragments of metal around. Problem cant be reproduced since its visably broken due to sudden blowing up of the PTU. Reasoning is that my engine still starts and my transmition works since it still audibly shifts between park and neutral. havnt tested drive or reverse yet since everything is still connected but will do that soon and write another report as an update to this one. No warning lights at all ever and nothing that i or my wife noticed before, just a sudden bang and no power doing 55 miles an hour. Realizing the situation was getting worse and that I could not stop it there, I jumped into the car and tried to start it.
