My 2022 Ram 3500 was manufactured without the **Particulate Matter (PM) Sensor**, a defect officially acknowledged in Recall Y43. This factory omission has caused terminal blockage of the **Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF)**—a specific consequential failure documented in the manufacturer's own recall filing. **Technical Argument:** 1. **Causal Link:** The official Y43 recall notice states: *"The PM sensor... may not have been installed... This could increase vehicle emissions and **block the diesel particulate filter**."* My vehicle currently suffers from the exact "blocked DPF" condition described. 2. **Ineffective Remedy:** Stellantis has offered to install the missing sensor (the Y43 part) but refuses to replace the ruined DPF. Installing a sensor on a filter already terminally blocked due to the sensor's absence is not an "effective remedy" under the **National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act**. 3. **Warranty Admission:** Per **TSB 09-014-22 (X97)**, the manufacturer has issued a 1-year unlimited mile warranty extension for the DPF specifically for vehicles affected by Y43. Refusing to replace a filter that failed *before* the recall was performed is an attempt to circumvent this warranty obligation. **Safety Risk:** The vehicle is currently in "Limp Mode" with a "Filter Full - Power Reduced" message. This creates an unreasonable safety risk of **stalling or loss of power** while operating on public highways, a condition explicitly mentioned in the Y43 safety report as increasing the risk of an accident. I am seeking an order for the manufacturer to replace the DPF as part of the Y43 recall remedy at no cost to the consumer. The manufacturer’s Case Manager has denied the claim and refused further communication

I own this truck and have had issues with the exhaust regeneration process for about 6 months. I have taken it to the dealer 3 times and they have done diagnostics and replaced the diesel particulate filter, but the issue continues to happen. They have now told me that the system is not reparable and they don't have support from RAM manufacturer to troubleshoot and repair this issue. They have multiple customers with the same issue with the diesel exhaust system not operating properly, hampering the engine performance, damaging the engine and exhaust system, polluting from the exhaust discharge. This is a widely known issue with the 2022 Ram 3500 from other owners, yet RAM refuses to properly address the issue. They advertise their trucks with certain horsepower and output specs, which aren't accurate due to their faulty exhaust systems. Consumers are now completely removing the factoring exhaust systems because they damage the engines and cost thousands of dollars to attempt to repair, which many times never work. This needs to be addressed with RAM and recalls put in place to address the failures with their exhaust systems. My truck has 28,000 miles on it, 3 years old, and is not operable. The dealer has had 3 attempts to repair this and is now turning me away. Please help! Thank you

The engine warning light was illuminated. The local dealer was contacted, and it was determined that the grid heater bolt had melted and fallen into the engine. The vehicle was repaired after two months due to the piston being on backorder. The manufacturer was contacted, but no additional assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000. The VIN was not available.

I have had the seal between the transmission and transfer case replaced 3 times due to leaking since new and after each repair within miles of each repair and all prior to the vehicle reaching 50,000 miles. The last time it was repaired at 65,000 miles they decided to replace the transmission with a new transmission - it also leaked between the transmission and transfer case within 1 day and less than 100 miles.

Every month I am receiving a check engine light for abs / traction control / failure. Dealer states HPU unit is bad, however I noticed all the fuses in the fuse box were loose. I pushed them in to reseat and the error cleared. This happens monthly. This last time happened during a snow storm and disabled abs.

This was a very alarming incident that created a bottleneck on the highway and presumably for me to nearly be rear ended as it happened at 5:35pm. I was able to safely make it off of the highway, however this incident has put the lives of all motorists on the road around me today in danger. ***3*** The truck has been inspected numerous times by the dealership. The contact owns a 2022 Ram 3500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate while the accelerator pedal was depressed. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed; however, the cause of the failure was not determined. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the same dealer approximately eight times, and a loaner vehicle was provided; however, after several unknown repairs, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was previously repaired under warranty. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.

The # 4 cam bearing seized to the camshaft. Upon further investigation the #4 main bearing was damaged from metal chips that were not removed during the manufacture of the engine. This damage from the manufacturing defect left the engine block damaged beyond repair. So a short block was ordered and installed.

The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 MPH, the steering wheel malfunctioned and jerked out of his hands and became difficult to turn in either direction. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the steering rack and steering rack wiring harness was faulty and needed to be replaced. The steering rack and steering rack wiring harness were replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle had previously experienced the failure, and the steering rack wiring harness was replaced, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 60,910.

While driving on interstate leaving a construction zone started to accelerate to maybe 40mph and heard/felt a hard clang and lost all forward motion costed to side of interstate. Looked underneath truck, nothing visible broken or leaking. Restarted truck tried to move forward with no luck. Reverse worked, put back in drive loud noise again stomped on the accelerator and started moving forward very slow and difficult. Made it to an exit to look at things in a safer location than the busy interstate. Figured out that I had reverse and 5th gear so it was very hard/ slow to get moving. Check engine light on, gear ration incorrect, code P0731, Tran sensor failure, no 4x4 Transmission failure 1-4 gears not working

The contact was able to pull over to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the wiring harness connector due to water intrusion, resulting in damages to the electric power steering control module. The contact was informed that the connector seal had failed to prevent the entrance of water leading to water damage. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 20,000.

The transmission in my vehicle failed suddenly on May 31, 2025, entering “limp mode” and losing the ability to shift properly. The vehicle became immobile and was towed to the dealership. Initial diagnostics revealed difficulty shifting between 3rd and 4th gears. Service technicians attempted repair in June based on RAM TSB MC-10231775, which indicated snap ring failure in the Aisin transmission. Repairs prescribed in TSB were attempted but unsuccessful, as the vehicle still could not shift into 4th gear. Additional parts were ordered, and another repair was unsuccessfully attempted in late June. Ram has shipped a new transmission which we are waiting on the dealership to install.

My 2022 RAM 3500 has repeated failures of the diesel particulate filter (DPF) system. The truck enters limp mode unexpectedly, including while towing on the interstate, creating a serious safety hazard due to sudden loss of power. Since purchasing the vehicle, I have experienced ongoing issues with the emissions system, specifically related to the DPF. The check engine light comes on frequently, and diagnostic scans consistently show code P2459 (Diesel Particulate Filter Regeneration Frequency Too High). The DPF system has been replaced approximately five times by authorized RAM dealer. Despite these repairs, the same problem continues to occur. The truck will sometimes enter limp mode without warning, drastically reducing engine power. This has happened while towing a camper on the interstate, making it difficult or impossible to maintain safe highway speeds or accelerate when needed. This puts me, my passengers, and other motorists at risk of a crash, particularly when merging or changing lanes in fast-moving traffic. I have already pursued and settled a claim with Stellantis (RAM’s manufacturer) for $10k due to these issues. However, the problem persists, and the root cause has not been resolved. Accepting the settlement was recommended by legal counsel. The failure has occurred on multiple occasions (at least five separate incidents). The vehicle has undergone several service visits and emissions system replacements, but the safety issue continues. Current mileage 42,000. Dates of incidents from most recent: 6/25 (still in shop), 3/25, 9/24, 8/24,7/24,6/24,4/24,1/24,7/23,6/23,11/22. Documentation available upon request. Diesel particulate filter (DPF) system replaced approximately five times. I believe there is a defect in the design or operation of the emissions system that poses a safety risk. Loss of power while driving at highway speeds or towing creates a dangerous situation. I am reporting this in hopes that NHTSA will investigate this recurring issue.

Transmission failure while driving not allowing to go in park after we got stopped. Truck un operable to get out of traffic.

The contact stated while her husband was driving at 65 MPH, coming to a stop the brake pedal was depressed however the vehicle failed to stop in a timely manner rear ending the vehicle in front of him. The contact stated that no air bags deployed. The contact stated that her husband sustained injuries to his shoulders and his head. The vehicle was towed to caliber consultation auto shop. Medical attention was required. The contact stated that a police report was filed. The contact mentioned the vehicle has not been deemed a total by her insurance company yet. The contact stated that the failure was not diagnosed by a dealer or independent mechanic. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

The contact owns a 2022 Ram 3500. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH during the rain, the windshield wipers suddenly failed to operate as needed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the park switch wiring had failed. The wiring was replaced; however, the failure remained. The dealer determined that the Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) had failed and DTC: B2303/11; was retrieved. The contact stated that the VCM was repaired; however, the failure remained. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 161,000.

The contact owns a 2022 Ram 3500. The contact stated while driving 40-45 MPH and hauling a 14-ft loaded trailer, the engine made an abnormally loud knocking sound. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to the residence, where a mobile independent mechanic diagnosed that the grid heater nut had melted and entered cylinder #6. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the grid heater nut failure had caused catastrophic failure of the pistons, turbo charger, and engine. The dealer determined that the engine assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the repair could not be covered under warranty due to the mileage on the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 112,700.

Trailer brake controler will report not connected when it is connected correctly. Systemm was tested and everything on the trailer is working properly. system was working corretly and suddenly stopped when on the interstate. Have had multiple shops look at the issue and no one can locate the issue. The radio/infotanment system will also disconnect radomly. Both act like a wire is lose. disconnect then reconnect and disconnect and reconnect, over and over. The radio disconnecting from the phone is an issue however not a safety concern like the trailer brake issue is. When I am pulling a 16,000 pound camper and the trailer brake stops that means I no longer have traler brakes and that can be an issue when stopping.

The contact stated that the steering linkage had disconnected. The contact stated there was a clunking sound underneath the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. Upon inspection, the contact noticed that a bolt securing the steering rod to the steering linkage had detached. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the steering linkage had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 42,000.

The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed with the heated steering wheel feature activated, the steering wheel became extremely hot; making the vehicle difficult to maneuver because the contact was only able to hold the steering for several seconds while driving. The contact stated that the steering wheel was replaced a year prior due to a separate failure. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who observed that the steering wheel reached temperatures of more than 120-145 degrees. However, after consulting with the manufacturer, the dealer informed the contact that the feature was operating as intended and within specifications. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was unknown.

Intermittent fault causing ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC), SERVICE BRAKES, cruise control, to disable while driving.

Firestone trans force Ht. 275/70R18 These tires came from factory on my Dodge Ram. The truck is around two years old and only with 13,500 miles on it. All four tires are failing and cracking on the side walls. I know earlier models of the same exact tire was recalled for the same issue.

Intermittent abs and traction control alarm. Very random and can come on without notice. Similar issue to the recall issued in September for the 1500 ram.

Started getting an alarm for abs and traction control alarm with 15000 miles, it would come and go every few thousand miles. Truck now has 44000 miles and the alarm has appeared twice in the past 4000 miles. This almost caused an accident as it disables the abs at any given time. The dealer says it is the Hydraulic Control Unit.

I coasted to a stop on the side of the road. Once stopped, smoke quickly started coming out of the engine compartment and then flames. I contacted 911, an engine arrived but the truck was fully engaged and completely burnt.
