I had a check engine light for catalytic converter bank 1. Added a cleaner to see if that would help - instructions mention run 1 - 2 tanks of gas after adding, so I did that, it took a while since I dont use the truck as often. The light did not clear so I was planning on bringing it in. I was on the highway and the check engine light starting flashing and power loss occurred. I limped off the highway and got it towed. It had 3 codes on check engine light. Other than the check engine light, no warnings, messages, nor symptoms appeared or occurred prior to the flashing check engine light. Got to Mastria Nissan, they looked at it for not long (morning) and said the engine and other components were junk. Presented a $27,000 bill. They did not tear it down nor illustrate what went wrong. Police nor insurance inspected the truck. Safety was compromised as it died on the highway where everyone was doing 70 plus. Had to limp off the highway as the pull off area was very busy and not spacious whatsoever. Truck has 28,000 miles on it and was planning on the 6th oil change. The first 2 were done at Nissan and I changed the oil myself other times. Drained oil had an appropriate volume. No oil has ever leaked. I have order history on oil and have the last oil change oil in my garage still. I filed a claim with Nissan corporate, I have emails with them, but i got a denial over phone on January 5th. They claimed they dont have enough service history and im 6 months out of warranty. Also, on the call, they refused to send the denial by email or regular mail.

The infotainment system within my vehicle is problematic... At any given time the infotainment system will force reboot itself, freeze, freeze or delay when the backup camera is engaged, reboot when the backup camera is engaged. There seems to be no rhyme or reason when this happens and I cannot determine exact steps to reproduce the issues; it just happens.

While operating vehicle within city limits the engine failed and the vehicle was unable to move under its own power. While slowing down, the vehicle's check engine light came on and the vehicle immediately lost power and would not turn over. The vehicle was towed to a mechanic's shop and after reviewing the problem and performing an inspection, it was determined the engine crankshaft seized.
ENGINE Sep 23, 2025
Check engine light went on and the Truck went into low power mode. Took it to an independent service center and it was no longer throwing the code. It happened a couple more times, took it to the dealership and the diagnostic was: Setting in ECM., Actuator is Binding causing DTC and vehicle to go into Reduced Power Mode. This seams to be a very common issue in Nissan Titan XD's. Maybe should be a recall? A very pricy repair for a vehicle that only has 45000 miles on it.

The contact owns a 2019 Nissan Titan. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle entered LIMP Mode and lost motive power. The contact was able to pull over to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 86,000.

Alternator harness is defective in my 2019 Nissan Titan. My truck has stalled on me twice while running and my air conditioner compressor has stopped working and radio is not working properly, and it is draining my battery, there is a delay when starting my vehicle as if it does not have enough power. I replaced the air conditioner compressor and vehicle battery. After replacing the air conditioner compressor it stopped working after two weeks. I can hear the air conditioner struggling when it is turn on, my radio and back up camera stop working all of sudden as if it is not getting enough power, then it will start working again. Radio turns on and off by itself. My vehicle omits a burnt smell from the engine. A research of the issues with my vehicle I located a recall with similar issues (19V495000) that affected 2017-2019 Nissan Titans.

Vehicle has a fluttering or lagging feel/sound when accelerating, often taking longer to accelerate than it should. When merging on to a highway, this has become a danger to myself and others. This problem has been confirmed by Nissan in tens of thousands of Nissan Titans. More recently, my truck (only 47,000 miles) shifts into reverse but will not actually go into reverse, which is pointing to a transmission problem.
ENGINE Apr 1, 2025
2019 Nissan Titan XD Diesel 153,700 miles. Driving 70-75mph on Texas highway and felt a vibration when I pressed on the gas pedal. Started moving over to exit due to power loss when a slight puff of smoke came out. I pulled over in a safe area and shut the truck off. There were NO Warning lights on the cluster. When I stepped out a small puddle of oil had already started to form under the truck. Open the hood and the passenger side engine compartment was covered in oil. I noticed oil formed on the license plate and was dripping out of the exhaust pipe. Oil had dripped off the under carriage from front to back, large amount formed under the vehicle after sitting for 1hr. We towed the vehicle to the local Nissan dealer and the result was a broken crank and possible transmission failure. I have reach out to Nissan corp to file a complaint as well. This vehicle has never experienced any significant issues, Nissan had no history prior to my reporting today. I have owned the vehicle since 2019 when I purchased it with 6k miles on it. Nissan has quoted me $32,660.63 for repairs (engine/Trans replacement), this is almost what I purchased the vehicle for in 2019.
FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL Feb 6, 2025
The contact owns a 2019 Nissan Titan. The contact stated that while driving 55 MPH, the “DEF System Error - See Dealer" message was displayed with a countdown for reduced power. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and the contact was informed that the fuel system error in the fuel pump system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 61,888.

In cold weather, generally below freezing, the tailgate of the 2019 Titan will not open. When attempting to open the tailgate, the latch is lifted up, but the tailgate will not open. However, once the temperature rises to high 20's, low 30'sF, the tailgate will open on its own. I believe lifting the tailgate latch puts this sequence into motion. In the first incident, I tried to open the tailgate in cold weather, it would not open. Then, while traveling down a highway, the tailgate opened by itself resulting in several large toolboxes spilling out of the bed and onto the highway. I was not aware of this until I got to my office. The truck was taken to a Nissan dealer who replaced the electrical and mechanical tailgate locking mechanisms (under warranty) in January 2024. Now, in January 2025, with the recent cold spell in the northeast, the tailgate again would not open. And as before, later the tailgate fell open on its own (thankfully there was noting in the bed of the truck). I took the truck to the same Nissan dealership and explained that tailgate problem was not fixed. The technician looked on her computer and, I am quoting, said to me "this is a common problem". I asked if there is a safety recall on this issue and the tech told me "no". Nissan stated I would have to pay for the fix this time as it was over a year since the last time they [failed] to fixed the tailgate . This is a serious safety concern in that the tailgate can open unexpectedly while the vehicle is moving allowing the cargo to spill out into moving traffic. Please issue a safety recall immediately. Nissan knows this is a problem and will not act on it! I stopped at the local police department and explained what happen. I went to the police to see if anyone picked up any of my tools I lost and gave them to the police. Not a single tool was turned in. I lost several hundred $$ of tools due to the tailgate opening. Thankfully, I don't believe it caused any one to damage their vehicle.
ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING Jan 21, 2025
The contact owns a 2019 Nissan Titan. The contact stated that there was a knocking sound coming from the driver’s side of the vehicle. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds and then while the vehicle was idling, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed failure with cylinder #7. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The engine was replaced at 27,000. The contact stated that at 80,000 miles the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to another dealer, Capital City Nissan of Topeka (1980 SW Topeka Blvd, Topeka, KS 66612) to be diagnosed and the contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced again. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact referenced Technical Service Bulletin/NHTSA ID Number: 10174416 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the vehicle was not covered under the TSB or a warranty. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 20,000.

I stopped to get diesel and pulled onto the interstate. Within 2 miles of being on the interstate, the engine felt as though it downshifted, lost power, and stalled in a construction one lane zone with no way to get out of traffic. The engine would no longer turn over and the truck would not start. This was a danger, not only to me, but to other drivers on the interstate. Had taken 90 miles away to a certified diesel nissan dealership who said all of the fluids were good and the motor was locked solid. It was not covered by warranty ans was estimated to cost $32,000.00 to replace motor.

While towing a 30 foot 5th Wheel trailer up a steep grade on [XXX] in Washington state, the truck's engine abruptly slowed, and subsequent dashboard warning lights appeared. We were forced in to attempting a change of lanes to reach the shoulder. This was extremely difficult and traumatic, due to the steep road grade, abrupt slowing of our vehicle, fast moving upcoming traffic and the number of semi-trucks traveling in the right lanes. Because the speed limit in this area is 70 mph, most vehicles traveling at 80+ mph. But at the time when the truck started to fail, we were traveling at approximately 62 mph. This was an obvious and dangerous hazard to not only myself, but my family and other vehicles in the immediate area of traffic. Without warning or prior indication, our vehicle abruptly slowed down, which caused a great deal of vehicles following ours to quickly change lanes in order to avoid a collision with not only our vehicle/trailer, but other vehicles traveling and maneuvering around ours and other traffic. Once we were able to turn around and "limp" home(which in itself was extremely risky). I brought the truck for diagnostic testing at Advantage Nissan or Bremerton, WA. Upon testing, the fault was shown as an EGR coolant or coolant reservoir fault(s). In researching, it is obvious this is a known historical Safety issue or problem with Nissan's 2016-2019 Cummins 5.0 diesel engine equipped vehicles. LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING May 18, 2024
Purchased from Coparts end of March 2024 2019 Nissan Titan Xd S [XXX] ) Arrived with no keys, no batteries, other engine parts missing. we thought it would run once we got keys and battery for it because it had less than 13,000 miles on it. Connecting bar seems broke, oil pan was off so no oil. Afraid to try to turn over because of all the issues until the engine is pulled and inspected. We feel we received a lemon for it to be in such bad shape with less than 13,000 miles. Plus sold without catalytic converter, thought that was illegal. Can anything be done to help us? I was driving with the vehicle operating perfectly normal. I turned onto a highway and was accelerating when all of the sudden without any warning lights or alarms the vehicle began to shake vigorously and lose power. I was almost rear-ended by a 18 wheeler trying to get to the shoulder. I had the vehicle towed to a nissan dealership that had it from 8/25/23 through 10/24/23 where they found that the engine crankshaft had failed. Due to this being a common issue the engine was replaced under warranty. The vehicle operated fine upon receiving it but now has check engine lights on. I have also lost all confidence in this truck as I was almost in a accident because of the failure. My resale value has completely diminished as with these nissan titans in general because of the known issues. This was also a pickup used to get back and forth to work and was expensed through my company I work for, so when it was in the shop for 2 months with no loaner I had to buy another vehicle as well as get a company vehicle and lose the expense amount I was receiving from my company for using my vehicle as transportation. This vehicle failure has made me lose all faith in this truck that I can safely get from point A to point B.

I purchased this vehicle on 05/16/23, four days later the check engine light along with the ABS and traction control light came on. I took the truck to the dealership service center, after a week I was called to pick up the truck. On the way home the same lights came on again. I returned the truck to the service center for repair. After two weeks I was called to pick up the truck. Two days later the lights have came back on. After checking several forums online I noticed that there were many people with the same truck experiencing the exact same problem.

TIRES Sep 19, 2022
These are NHTSA recalled tires for my 2019 Nissan Titan. I had them inspected (via the recall) at Cedar Park Nissan and even though they showed major sidewall issues (peeling, tread chunk missing, etc.), I was told they were a non-issue. I brought them in a 2nd time because the peeling and marring of tire look like major issues - they dismissed it. These are one of the tire models you state in your "Part 573 Safety Recall Report 21V-169". Specifically "Continental Tire 265/70 R18 116S TL Grabber HTS ". My wife and I were driving home with our 8 and 10 year old sons in the truck when the tire completely blew out and we were able to avoid a collision and wreck by the grace of God. I have photos and I have contacted Cedar Park Nissan (the customer service rep would not connect me with anyone in management or authority and said it was my responsibility to find them sometime). I am fine with new tires - or pursuing a lawsuit and getting as much as court will allow. Nissan's choice. Your help would be appreciated, since this is a defective tire and is in the description of a tire the NHTSA deemed as defective. No warnings given - other than the recall the NHTSA issues that Cedar park Nissan deemed unnecessary. The previous symptoms have already been noted, as Cedar Park Nissan was made aware of them 2 times and sent us away without help. The other 3 tires look poor, as I previously showed them twice now.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL Sep 17, 2021
Frequent and intermittent appearance of ABS, traction control, engine warning and 4WD Error lights on dashboard. All lights appear simultaneously and when they appear, cruise control fails, vehicle downshifts and slows substantially and engine RPMs increase 10-20% above norm for each gear. If vehicle is stopped, turned off and then restarted, conditions return to normal, only to appear again later. During a recent 3,000 mile Florida-Michigan-Florida trip, these incidents occurred a total of 56 times, all while on interstate highways driving 55-70 mph. The incidents do not occur during daily low-speed driving around town. After the recent 3k mile trip, I brought the vehicle to Nissan dealer however they would not service because dashboard lights were not on and vehicle was operating normally. Dealer advised I should wait until lights reappear, then bring vehicle into dealer service bay immediately and “DO NOT TURN OFF IGNITION” because lights will disappear. This situation is difficult because lights only appear when I am driving on the interstate, usually far from home, and they disappear upon restart. Also I would need to immediately find a Nissan dealer with an open service bay.

2019 NISSAN TITAN PRO-4X WHILE DRIVING THE TRUCK, THE BATTERY VOLTAGE WILL DROP BELOW 12 VOLTS (AS LOW AS 11.75 VOLTS). WHEN THE VOLTAGE IS LOW I'VE NOTICED THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS CONSTANTLY 'HUNTING' TO FIND THE RIGHT GEAR. ALSO THE THROTTLE CONTROL BECOMES 'SLUGGISH'. WHEN TRYING TO LIGHTLY ACCELERATE IT WILL NOT GAIN SPEED UNTIL THE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTS HARSHLY. ON A HANDFUL OF OCCASIONS I'VE EXPERIENCED AN ISSUE WHERE I CAN PUSH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. THE ENGINE RPMS WOULD SLOWLY INCREASE BUT THE TRUCK WOULD CONTINUE TO SLOW DOWN AS IF THE TRANSMISSION WAS NOT FULLY 'ENGAGED'. ONCE EVERY 2-3 USES OF THE TRUCK IT WILL NOT START AND ACTS LIKE THE BATTERY IS DEAD. I JUMP START IT AND THEN IT CRANKS RIGHT AWAY. I'VE LOAD TESTED THE BATTERY AND IT IS STILL IN GOOD CONDITION. THE PROBLEM WAS INTERMITTENT FOR THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNERSHIP BUT NOW IS A CONSISTENT PROBLEM. I'VE HAD TO BUY A PORTABLE BATTERY JUMP STARTER TO KEEP IN THE TRUCK BECAUSE I KEEP GETTING STRANDED. THIS IS ALSO A POSSIBLE SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE ELECTRICAL CONTROL SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO OPERATE ABOVE 12 VOLTS. WHEN THE VOLTAGE DROPS BELOW 12 VOLTS THEN IT IS POSSIBLE TO RENDER SOME OF THE VEHICLE CONTROL SYSTEMS (INCLUDING SAFETY SYSTEMS) INOPERABLE WHICH COULD POSSIBLY RESULT IN A CRASH CAUSING INJURY AND/OR DEATH. I AM A CONTROL SYSTEMS ENGINEER AND HAVE OVER 25 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN INDUSTRIAL ELECTRICAL CONTROLS.

MY 2019 NISSAN TITAN, WITH ONLY 6500 MILES, HAS TWICE FAILED TO SHIFT FROM LOWER GEAR WHEN PULLING AWAY FROM A STOPLIGHT OR STOP SIGN CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO PULL OUT OF TRAFFIC ON A CITY STREET. EVENTUALLY, IT SHIFTED AS NORMAL. THE ELECTRICAL ISSUE IS MORE PERPLEXING. WITHOUT HAVING THE IGNITION KEY IN EVEN REMOTELY CLOSE PROXIMITY TO, AND WITH THE VEHICLE STATIONARY AND NOT RUNNING, THE VEHICLE RADIO BEGINS PLAYING.
