NISSAN IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011-2012 NISSAN QUEST VEHICLES, MANUFACTURED FROM JULY 29, 2010, THROUGH FEBRUARY 21, 2012. DUE TO SOFTWARE PROGRAMMING, WHILE DRIVING AT SLOW SPEEDS OR IDLING ON A DECLINE WITH ¼ TANK FUEL OR LESS, THERE MAY BE AN INSUFFICIENT SUPPLY OF FUEL TO THE ENGINE. AS A RESULT, THE ENGINE MAY STALL.
Remedy: NISSAN WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL REPROGRAM THE FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE, FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON APRIL 2, 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-647-7261.

My vehicle is experiencing the issue under Recall NHTSA ID 12V076000: fuel supply issue that could cause engine stalling. Specifically, due to a programming error, the fuel pump might not supply enough fuel to the engine when driving at slow speeds or idling downhill with a ¼ tank or less of fuel.

The contact owns a 2011 Nissan Quest. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle started jerking and became inoperable. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle had been diagnosed by an independent mechanic. The contact was informed that the failure was due to a faulty transmission. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 165,000.

Van became sluggish when coming to the busy intersection. When I tried to accelerate when light changed, engine light came on and van would not go over 5mph. I was almost hit. Codes were run by a mechanic. Four internal transmission codes are present. Was told that the Quest has a transmission known for these problems. We could've been killed from the vehicle not moving with traffic.

If I push the brakes to make the car stop, then try to have it accelerate again, like at a stop sign or anything, the gas pedal feels like it’s not doing anything, and the car doesn’t start for like 5 seconds, then when it does it goes about 5 mph for like 500 feet, then it goes back to normal, and because of this we feel it’s not safe to operate. This happens every time I drive it, so I only feel safe on not very populated roads driving it.

On April 19, 2022, I was driving home after picking up my son. The traffic was bumper to bumper. And as I sat in traffic, when I moved my foot from the brake to the accelerator, the vehicle would not move. So while sitting in traffic, and the traffic began to move, I could not move. So I turned the car off, and turned it back on, and I was able to move enough to get the vehicle on to the shoulder of traffic. My father came and changed the battery, and I was able to start the car and drive home, which was 30 minutes away. Two days later, same thing happened again. After driving the vehicle for a delivery, I was on my way to get some gas. And as I turned from one street to another, the vehicle stalled on me as I was turning slow. The vehicle would not start up at all. So I had to call a towing service to tow the vehicle home. According to some people online, the problem could be in the CVT transmission overheating, or it could possibly be a software issue. The 2011 Nissan Quest were a part of a recall, but when I put my VIN number in, it doesn't show my vehicle being one, but its doing what the recall was calling for. Our safety was put at risk, because the vehicle stalled in the middle of 2 busy highways, causing a safety risk for me and my son, but also causing a risk for others behind me in traffic, not knowing that my vehicle was stalled. There were no warning signs that popped up at all. The car just quit driving. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer. Right now it is just sitting in front of my house, until we figure out what to do next. I have had to pay 2 towing fees for the problem, and don't want to come out paying a whole lot for this issue. We just bought this vehicle from a private owner 2 weeks ago, and this is the first week it is doing this.

I THEN CONTACTED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND REPORTED THE ISSUE. THEY ADVISED ME TO TAKE IT INTO THE NISSAN DEALER AND HAVE IT DIAGNOSED. WHILE AT THE NISSAN DEALER THE REPAIRMAN THERE WERE THREE INFORMED ME THAT THERE HAD BEEN A CVT MALFUNCTIONING ISSUE WITH THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE. DURING THE TIME THAT I WAS AT NISSAN HAVING MY VEHICLE DIAGNOSE, THERE WERE TWO OTHER SAME MAKE AND MODEL OF MY VEHICLE THERE FOR THE SAME REASON. WHEN THE VAN HAS 1/4 OR LESS OF GAS AND IS ON AN SLIGHT INCLINE. THE VAN WILL NOT START ONLY WILL START AGAIN WHEN YOU PUT IN 5 GALLONS OF GAS. I HAVE DROVE THIS VAN LIKE THIS FOR ALMOST A YEAR MAKING SURE IT IS HALF TO FULL TANK OF GAS. NOW I AM HAVING PROBLEMS EVEN WITH THE TANK FULL GOING UP INCLINES WANTING TO STALL EVEN WITH THE GAS PETAL PUSHED ITS NOT SENDING THE SIGNAL TO THE FUEL.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. EVEN ON LEVEL ROAD SURFACES, THE ACCELERATION IS INCONSISTENT ONCE ACCELERATOR IS PRESSED. THIS HAS BEEN A CONSISTENT ISSUE FOR WELL OVER A YEAR.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN QUEST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HORN ACTIVATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT USED THE KEYFOB TO DEACTIVATE THE HORN HOWEVER, AFTER APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY TERMINALS TO DISABLE THE HORN FUNCTION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, THE DRIVER'S FRONT TIRE EXPERIENCED A BLOWOUT. THE TIRE BLOWOUT CAUSED THE HOOD LATCH CABLE TO DETACH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A TIRE SHOP FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO BAYOU NISSAN (13050 I-10 SERVICE RD, NEW ORLEANS, LA 70128), AND THE DEALER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A FEE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000.

MY 2011 NISSAN QUEST IS HAVING ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION. ON TWO SEPARATE TRIPS THIS SUMMER MY QUEST HAS SEEMINGLY BEEN INCAPABLE OF DOWN SHIFTING TO GAIN POWER DURING PASSING OR CLIMBS. THIS ONLY HAPPENS DURING SEVERAL HOURS OF EXTENDED DRIVING TIME BUT DURING NORMAL AROUND TOWN DRIVING IT OPERATES WITHOUT INCIDENT. I HAVE NOW HAD MY QUEST SERVICED AT TWO SEPARATE DEALERS, ONE IN FLORIDA AND THE OTHER IN OHIO, BOTH FOUND NOTHING AT ALL WRONG. INCIDENT ONE OCCURRED IN LATE JUNE 2016 WHILE IN THE APPALACHIAN'S DURING BOTH THE DESTINATION AND RETURN TRIP (RETURN TRIP AFTER A DEALER TRANSMISSION SERVICE). THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT TRAVEL FASTER THAN 50-60 MPH WHILE CLIMBING EVEN WITH THE ACCELERATION PEDAL COMPLETELY PRESSED. NO ENGINE LIGHTS COME ON AND THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE WAS NORMAL. DRIVING CONDITIONS WERE SIX PASSENGERS WITH LUGGAGE AND 95+ OUTDOOR TEMPS. INCIDENT TWO OCCURRED IN LATE JULY 2016 WHILE TRAVELING IN FAIRLY FLAT MICHIGAN AND OHIO. IN THIS CASE I WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN 80MPH BUT UNABLE TO ACCELERATE TO PASS. BUT ONE VERY DANGEROUS INCIDENT AND IN FACT ALMOST CAUSING ME TO BE REAR-ENDED WAS WHILE IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC I TRIED TO ACCELERATE AND CHANGE LANES BUT HAD ZERO POWER PRESSING THE PEDDLE COMPLETELY DOWN. DRIVING CONDITIONS WERE FIVE PASSENGERS WITH LUGGAGE AND LOW 70S OUTDOOR TEMP. I CURRENTLY HAVE A NISSAN CORPORATE ENGINEER SCHEDULED TO EVALUATE MY VEHICLE.

IT IS MOSTLY HAPPENING WHILE STOPPED AT STOPLIGHTS OR STOP SIGNS, BUT CAN SPUTTER, SHAKE AND ACT LIKE IT IS NOT GETTING PROPER FUEL SUPPLY ON DOWNSLOPES EVEN WHILE DRIVING. THE CAR HAS STALLED OUT MULTIPLE TIMES ON BUSY STREETS, LEAVING ME VULNERABLE TO REAR END COLLISIONS. WE HAVE 4 CHILDREN IN THE CAR WITH US MOST DAYS AND WE CANNOT HAVE OUR CAR STOPPING IN THE MIDDLE OF A 6 LANE ROAD. AFTER IT HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES, WE LOOKED UP THE ISSUE ON LINE AND SAW THAT INDEED THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL AND YEAR OF CAR FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM, HOWEVER, OUR VIN # IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. NISSAN WILL NOT FIX IT NOW, YET IT IS STILL A SERIOUS AND POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING ISSUE.

IT ALSO STRUGGLES TO DOWNSHIFT PROPERLY, TAKING SEVERAL SECONDS TO ENGAGE IN THE DOWNSHIFT FOR MORE POWER AND THEN JERKING ROUGHLY. IT HAS LEFT US VULNERABLE TO A SITUATION IN WHICH WE COULD CRASH BY NOT BEING ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF ANOTHER VEHICLE QUICKLY. ACCORDING TO OUR MECHANIC AT OUR SERVICE STATION, THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH NISSAN'S GEARLESS TRANSMISSION SYSTEM AND HAS BEEN RECALLED ON SEVERAL OTHER NISSAN VEHICLE MODELS.

I ESCALATED THE ISSUE TO NISSAN 3RD LEVEL ESCALATION AND THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE THE DASH BUT WOULD GIVE ME 1000.00 TO SPLIT THE COST. ON JAN 25 2016 MY CAR WAS INVOLVED IN A NO FAULT ACCIDENT SMASHING HEAD ON INTO A SNOW BANK AND THEN ROLLING ONTO THE ROOF THEN CRUNCHING ON THE PASSENGER DOOR. MY FOREHEAD WAS SMASHED INTO THE STEERING WHEEL OF 10 AIRBAGS NOT 1 AIRBAG DEPLOYED. I SUSTAINED INJURY AND IF I HAD A MY FAMILY IN THE VEHICLE THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH TO THE PASSENGERS. NO SIDE IMPACT BAGS DEPLOYED OR PASSENGER AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. I AM CONCERNED THAT WITH THIS VIOLENT IMPACT AND THE ROLLING OF THE VEHICLE THAT THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN SIDE IMPACT AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND BOTH FRONT SRS AIRBAGS DEPLOYMENT. THIS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. AT MY NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN WAKE FOREST ALONE THERE HAS BEEN 4 INCLUDING MINE THAT HAD THIS TYPE OF DEFECTIVE DASH THAT WAS REPLACED. MY VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSE ACCORDING TO THE INSURANCE INVESTIGATION.

THERE IS NO OIL PRESSURE GAUGE TO ALERT DRIVER OF LOW OIL PRESSURE. CHECK ENGINE ICON COMES ON BUT DOESN'T ALERT DRIVER AS TO WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. VEHICLE IN QUESTION WAS TAKEN IN FOR OIL CHANGE MONTHS AGO AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS VERY LITTLE OIL BUT THERE WERE NO WARNINGS DETECTED AND THERE ARE NO KNOWN OIL LEAKS. CHECKED OIL LEVEL WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE ICON CAME ON AGAIN AND TOPPED OFF OIL LEVEL TO SAFE AMOUNT AND THE NEXT DAY IT CAME BACK ON AGAIN WITH NO WARNING SIGNS OF A VERY UNSAFE OIL LEVEL(OIL WAS NOT PRESENT ON THE DIPSTICK). MILEAGE FOR VEHICLE IS AROUND 70K+. ONCE AGAIN PINGING WAS NOTICED AND NOTHING WAS DONE ABOUT IT FROM THE DEALERSHIP SAYING THAT THEY COULD NOT DETECT ANY PINGING AND NO KNOWN OIL LEAKS WERE FOUND WITH NO VISUAL EVIDENCE DETECTED.

THERE HAVE BEEN 3 INSTANCES WHERE OUR VAN HAS STALLED SITTING ON AN INCLINE WITH A QUARTER OR SO OF GAS LEFT. THERE IS AN OPEN RECALL FOR THE 2011 QUEST BUT MINE DOESN'T FALL UNDER THE SAME MANUFACTURE DATE RANGE. AFTER RESEARCHING, I FOUND THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM WITH THE QUEST OVER SEVERAL YEARS NOT JUST 2011. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THEM RESEARCH AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THAT BEFORE. THEY SUGGESTED PURCHASING A FUEL SENDING UNIT TO FIX THE PROBLEM. IF IT WAS JUST A PROBLEM WITH THE GAUGE THEN WHY WOULD THE CAR STALL ON A HILL WITH PLENTY OF GAS LEFT? I AM WORRIED ABOUT WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF I AM ACTUALLY TRAVELING DOWN A HILL AT SPEED AND MY CAR STALLS.

I WAS SITTING AT A RED LIGHT WHEN SUDDENLY THE ENGINE STARTED TO REV VERY HIGH. I PRESSED HARD ON THE BRAKE TO PREVENT MOVING AND TURNED THE IGNITION OFF. I STARTED IT AGAIN AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED. THE THIRD TIME I TRIED THE REVVING, WHILE STILL HIGHER THAN NORMAL, WAS LESS. I WAS ABLE TO GO TO A PARKING LOT AND TURN OFF THE CAR TO HAVE IT TOWED. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN QUEST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE FUEL TANK WAS ONE QUARTER FULL AND THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN ON A SLOPE, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
