This model of vehicle (2022) has a known hood flutter that cannot be repaired. It's possible the hood latch could fail and the hood will fly up/open while the vehicle is in motion. My vehicle registration acknowledges a recall but it is not for the hood flutter. I've done research and it is identified on the internet that dealerships know this hood issue exist.

The contact owns a 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at undisclosed speeds, the Collision Mitigation warning light had unintentionally illuminated. The contact added that the vehicle was typically parked inside the garage. The vehicle was taken to a dealer five times, and the contact expressed concerns about the collision warning light being inadvertently illuminated. The contact stated that after receiving the vehicle, the warning light disappeared but reappeared after approximately a month. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure five times and stated that the contact would receive a call back, but had not yet received a call back. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
After an afternoon driving in the rain most of the previous day my vehicle started to produce a clunking noise from the rear and front of the vehicle. I was able to stop at my mechanic near by and have them check the problem. My mechanic was able to diagnose the issue as a rear end differential coupler issue and said a bulletin had been posted about the issue. He was unable to work on the problem due to the specific equipment needed for the vehicle. I was able to call the closest dealership where they confirmed this was an issue they have been seeing more of this problem lately. So much so they had stocked that part and run out of that part. As I turned out into traffic I could have easily caused someone to rear end my vehicle due to the lack of engagement from the drive-train. Had I been on a busy road this would have caused an accident. The problem was reproduced and confirmed by my local mechanic in Shepherd, Michigan at 1st Street Auto. The vehicle is currently located at a Showcase Mitsubishi in Bay City, Michigan scheduled for repair on Tuesday September 9th where the part will be replaced. No warning lamps, messages were displayed. No other symptoms occurred before this incident.
The hood vibrates. It looks as if the hood is popped, but not actually unlatched. I had the update done on my backup camera, and now it's starting to glitch with lines that go across the whole screen. It reminds me of regular Nintendo in the '90s glitching out. And having to restart the whole system.
The contact owns a 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander. The contact stated that while driving at slow speeds in stop-and-go traffic, the vehicle ahead unexpectedly came to a complete stop. The contact was able to stop in time to avoid a crash. Afterward, the contact became concerned because the Forward Collision Avoidance system failed to activate. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact was informed that the system was reset. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 62,000.
I was backing out of my driveway and my camera froze and I ran into a truck that was parked behind my car. The form would not let me continue until I checked the air bags box. But I do not know if that pertains to this situation

I have a coolant leak with my EGR cooler. The part is on back order for 90 days. Clearly the EGR cooler is being replaced on these cars on a regular so there must be a defect if I can’t get my vehicle fixed for 90 days or more

My key fog plus my emergency key fog aren't connecting or linked to my car. Even after I changed the batteries. Twice. I'm not able to unlock my door or turn on my car. I was out of town and locked my keys in the car. I wasn't able to unlock it even with the my mitsubishi connect smartphone link. I called customer service and they weren't able to unlock it as well. So I had to get roadside assistant.I was stranded in the middle of nowhere. Hours away from home on a sunday and all dealerships were closed.

The Forward Collision Mitigation camera failed, prompting the center screen to continuously blink and beep uncontrollably with no ability to turn off the blinking or beeping. The constant blinking locks up all controls such that you are unable to adjust any of the settings, and the constant beeping is loud enough to cause the driver to be unable to reasonably hear their surroundings and cause annoyance/agitation to the driver. The problem was inspected & diagnosed by Valley Mitsubishi in Longmont, CO. The problem first appeared on [XXX] with the warning light first coming on in the morning and the continuous blinking/beeping/lockup occurring by evening that same day. My 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander SEL special edition was purchased in December 2022. In February 2024, the fuel pump went out the dealership said it was not a recall, however it was covered under my warranty. Now, March 2025, my fuel pump has went out again. This is the second time and the third fuel pump counting the original in the vehicle. Even though it’s covered by warranty, it is still not a recall? How can a fuel pump go out two times in three years?
Radio does a hard reset all on its own, we lose backup camera, alerts and all safety functions that are built into the radio for adjustment. Also get collision warning stating it’s not working. Radio is no longer working. We asked the dealer and they said it’s going to be a recall very soon when we went in for an oil change.
This vehicle has been deteriorating since around the 10-15k miles. One of the recalls should have fixed something that was happening to my heater /ac not turning on. I would turn on the vehicle and the fan wouldn't turn on. I had turn off and restart the vehicle. this has happened multiple times. The display panel will turn off randomly while driving. the main problem is my car drifts to side. really bad. I feel really unsafe in it. i had to pay outside company to see what it was and have them continue to align my tires because it gets so shaky. i can't even attach a hitch to this. the car shifts to the sides really bad, even over the smallest bumps at low mileage. someone from one of the dealerships told me there was nothing wrong with my tires (i asked them to check it when I went for a recall). i was told the vehicle feels different b/c mitsubishi motor is now made by nissan. he thought i was dumb or something. i haven't been able to get this fixed b/c idk what to do. im not hte car expert. they are. i have to constantly align the wheels but i've pretty much exhausted how many times I can get them aligned. now apparently my shocks are bad? and mitsubishi won't sell the shocks to an outside auto repair shop.

I think its a bad design flaw n there are charging me 800 in parts and labor even though its under warranty This can cause false reading and some one can get hurt

My car started with remote starter app x2. I went out to the car and it would not start. Indicator light said to put fob near start button. Still didn't start. Jump started and had multiple malfunction lights on. Replaced batter with brand new battery. Followed all instructions. Forward collision and blinds pot warning malfunction errors persist and those features will not work. Research shows this can can severe vehicle malfunction and cause an accident. Dealer can't look at it for 8 weeks.

For the past 3 winters since I had this vehicle when it is cold outside the vehicle starts hard or will not start at all requiring a jump. It will not shift gears, or accelerate. The battery light comes on after the vehicle is running. I have called the local dealership and was told this happens when it is cold. I was told to bring the car in and let it sit there when it's cold so they can try and re create the problems they stated the battery is fine. As of today the vehicle started to leak oil after it started hard. When i purchased the vehicle i had noticed the hood shakes and bounces when driving. I mentioned this to the sales agent and they stated it was a known issue and they would recall the hood but it was a timely process. It is unsafe to drive a vehicle that will not accelerate or change from reverse to park and then roll It is also.unsafe to drive with oil leaking in your car I have made my vehicle available each time there is a situation The battery light comes on but has been tested at the dealership in the last 2 months This happens every time it's cold i call and they tell me itsa known issue when it's cold. When i purchased the vehicle I noticed the hood bouncing I asked the sales person about it and they said it was a known issue and they would fix it when the parts came in. I should have been more careful as it was a vehicle right off the truck.
On January 12 at 9:54am I was driving less than a 1/4 of a mile. I stopped at a stop sign and my cabin was filled with smoke. I thought it was coming from the engine so i turned the heat off for the car. I proceeded to the next stop sign and I then realized that my driver side seat was on fire and the smoke was coming out from between my legs for the seat was burning from the inside. I have taken the car to the dealership and it is reported that there is a faulty heating element in the seat. The car can not be started for each time the car is started the fire reignites. Due to the air bags being attached to this same control panel I can not drive the car off the lot. This car is a huge safety issue.
Fire
The vehicle is not starting in 20 degree Fahrenheit needing to be jumped every time it is cold. The phev has a full battery and there is gas in the tank and it has been doing this lately. Every test is coming back okay from the dealer Now it says service engine

It sounds like its coming on and shutting off the fuel pump
Apparently the fuel system (fuel canister, fuel dispender, fuel vapor valves). It caused fuel, gasoline, odor to enter inside the vehicle cabin, causing dizziness and nausea to me, my wife and two kids. The problem was confirmed by the dealer. They try to fix it on 3 different occasions without sucess. As of today they requested the vehicle as they recognized is a safety issue and handed my a temporary vehicle. They told me that the repair date is indefinite as the parts doesn't exist in the US, and was order directly to the manufacturer (outside of US). I have knowledge about other persons that are experimenting the same problem.

The contact owns a 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the vehicle was shuddering. The contact stated that the vehicle was losing motive power. The vehicle failed to start. The contact added additional fuel. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V027000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the fuel pump was faulty and there was no recall coverage for the failure. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. While driving at unknown speeds, the vehicle sputtered, hesitating and jerking. The contact stated that the engine overheated and started sputtering. The engine warning light was illuminated. The temperature gauge increased to high. The contact was able to move over to the side of the roadway. The vehicle was taken back to the same local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the coolant module and relay needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 96,416.

There is currently a service bulletin out for the hood to be replaced because it flutters on the highway, I purchased the vehicle pre owned at 61,000 miles, Mitsubishi won’t cover the repair because it’s over 60,000 miles, I feel like this is a safety concern as the hood flutters on the highway and I have 2 small children in the car most of the time one is an infant , they are trying to charge me $3,045 for the repair when it was the fault of Mitsubishi. I purchased the car preowned from Chrysler dodge jeep ram at 61,000 miles and there service department told me several times it’s normal and it’s fine, I finally brought it to a Mitsubishi service center and they told me about the issue. This should not have a warranty to be covered for repair it should be a recall , I’m worries the hood will pop open on the highway .
While driving down the highway at 70 mph, my 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander SEL suddenly shut off without warning, causing the entire dashboard and instrument cluster to go dark. In a matter of seconds, the vehicle unexpectedly braked on its own, decelerating from 70 to 0 mph in an extremely short distance. This abrupt stop nearly caused an 18-wheeler behind me to rear-end my vehicle. Thankfully, the truck driver was able to swerve just in time, narrowly avoiding a catastrophic collision. The situation could have resulted in severe injuries or fatalities. During the incident, all power to the vehicle was lost. The brakes became unresponsive and impossible to press, and the steering became extremely difficult to control, making it nearly impossible to maneuver the vehicle safely. This is the fifth time my vehicle has experienced this issue, with the past three instances almost ending in serious accidents due to the car’s complete failure to respond. After a few seconds of total power loss, the vehicle inexplicably starts back up on its own and operates as if nothing had happened. Despite this recurring and life-threatening malfunction, the dealership has been unable to identify or fix the problem after four repair attempts. Each time, they’ve tried different fixes: 1. Initially, a software update was performed. 2. Next, the ADAS controller was replaced. 3. Then, the body computer was swapped out. 4. Now, they are attempting to replace a power distribution system. Even after these numerous interventions, the problem persists, and the dealership has no clear understanding of the underlying cause. They have viewed a video of the incident that I provided, but no actual solution has been identified. The dealership has resorted to seeking advice from other brand technicians in an attempt to resolve the issue, but to date, there is no resolution in sight. This defect poses an imminent danger to my safety and the safety of others on the road.
