Vehicle has failed to start with NO WARNING LIGHTS (completely blank infotainment screen) and no sounds when start button is pressed. Vehicle also completely shuts down when stopping in traffic and takes several attempts at restarting before the vehicle actually starts and able to move. This is a SEVERE LIFE THREATENING OR SERIOS INJURY SITUATION that Hyundai seems to have no interest in solving. Incidents have been video when safety is not an issue.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING Mar 25, 2026
Subject: Safety Concern – Excessive Automatic Braking (2025 Hyundai Tucson) I am reporting a safety concern regarding the automatic braking system (Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist) in my 2025 Hyundai Tucson. The vehicle frequently applies sudden and aggressive braking in situations where there is no immediate collision risk. This occurs during normal driving and low-speed parking scenarios, including when passing nearby objects, backing out of parking spaces, or maneuvering in tight areas. The braking is abrupt enough to create a potential safety hazard, including: - Risk of being rear-ended due to unexpected deceleration - Disruption of normal traffic flow - Reduced driver confidence and control This behavior appears overly sensitive and does not align with actual collision risk in many cases. I have attempted to adjust the system settings (including warning timing), but the issue persists. Additionally, the system resets upon restarting the vehicle, preventing a consistent mitigation of the problem. I am requesting: - A review of this system behavior as a potential safety defect - A software update or calibration option to reduce braking aggressiveness - The ability to permanently adjust or disable this feature Please advise on next steps and whether this issue is known or under review. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS Mar 23, 2026
When driving in daylight at about 5 pm in light traffic at speeds of about 20 mph the car suddenly had a dead stop. My grandsons, ages [XXX] and [XXX] were in the back seat with seat belts but their and my drinks went flying. There was no potential collision that precipitated this and luckily the car behind was not close enough for a rear end collision. This has happened 2 or 3 times previously and I think this "safety feature" which cannot be turned off is a safety hazard. I also had a disturbing experience when I left a lane briefly to give a bicycle rider more space. The car suddenly tried to pull me back into the lane and I had to fight the wheel to keep it where I wanted the car to be. I was able to disable this feature. The car has only 7K miles and is almost a year old. I am a good driver and am concerned that I will get into an accident due to unwanted safety features! Thank you. FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS Mar 21, 2026
The Forward Collision Assist system applies hard braking when there is no danger. This happened twice today at low speeds (1-2mph) Once in a drive through and once in traffic in a parking lot. Luckily, the truck behind me did not rear end me. My concern is what if it starts doing this at higher speeds? I feel it is dangerous.

This has happened at least 6-10:times. We park the car put it into park and the car lurches forward. Once the car hit a sign in front of it, a few times to hit the transient in the ground in front of the car. Car was taken to the dealer and the mechanic could not get the event to occur. Nothing occurs prior to the vehicle lurching forward. Issue has been reported to the manufacturer case number assigned but manufacturer refuses to do anything about the issue. Case number is XXX. As I have written to the manufacturer - we are concerned that this may occur with a sold wall, another vehicle or good forbid a human being in front of the car. FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING Mar 19, 2026
On March 16, 2026, my wife was driving our 2025 Hyundai Tucson westbound on Immokalee Rd in Naples, FL. She was traveling at a speed of 35mph, with no vehicles in front of her, but the Emergency Braking system engaged without warning and caused our car to come to a screeching stop. Several cars behind my wife's car had to avoid slamming into to our car. There are no bridges, overhanging tree limbs or other structures over the roadway. The weather was clear skies and sunny, and the time of day was noon. After this incident, we contacted the dealership from which we bought the car (11/15/25) here in Naples. We brough the car in for diagnosis but have not heard back from them. While there, my wife was approached by a dealership salesperson who overheard our story, and she implored my wife to "please report this incident...this phantom braking issue is a big deal..." Our salesperson did not admit to having heard of such issues, but he offered to buy the car back from us. We will wait to see what their formal evaluation produces and make a decision at that time. This could have been a deadly accident if the cars behind my wife had not avoided running into her.
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING Mar 18, 2026
Automatic braking engages when there is no actual hazard present and brings vehicle to a full stop. This causes a serious whiplash hazard to me and my passengers as our heads are thrown forward unnecessarily. It also significantly increases the risk of being rear ended by the vehicle behind me. This has happened on several occasions. Today it occurred because the car hit a small bump in the road while doing less than 10 mph. Google Search confirms that this is a widespread and well-known defect and that Hyundai has not been willing to release a software upgrade that allows owners to turn-off they automatic braking feature from the dashboard control panel. Immediate action by NHTSA is required before somebody gets seriously injured or killed by this defect.

The automatic braking system has slammed on when traveling at least three times now when there is nothing close by or in front of me. One time a piece of a bag was fluttering on the roadside by me and my t slammed to a full stop almost causing an accident.

As of today, March 17, 2026 , my 2025 Hyundai Tucson keeps having safety issues. On March 8th , 11th, 14th and 25th the car once again shut down mid-drive. This issue occurred last month as well but dealership claims no DTCs were found. I am noticing that the forward collision warning comes on without any cars or objects in front periodically since the purchase of my car. The light will remain on for a few seconds and disappear. The automatic brake system seems to be causing issues as well which I believe causes the car to shut off completely mid-drive. Once the car shuts off the panel lights turn on to include the engine light, but then after a few seconds I able to change gears back to park in order to turn car back on and continue driving. This has happened now several times since last month. However, I have had issues with my brand new vehicle since I purchased it last year. My car remained in the dealership for 3 months last year due to an engine, ac and power train issues. Prior to the car shutting off, No actual warning lights illuminate other than the forward collision warning light and the notification of headlights are turned off even though it’s daylight and headlights do not need to be turned on . Periodically and intermittently an alert about consider taking a coffee break alert has also popped up in the past. It seems Hyundai has a severe issue with the FCA operating system and over 100 complaints have been made about this vehicle nationwide and no recalls have been issued. I am afraid for my life and the life of others on the road as this car should not be stopping and shutting off while driving for no apparent reason.

Bought new, less that 400 miles in November 2025. Within 2 weeks dash board went blank/black. I consider this a driving distraction especially at night when nothing shows, no speed no gauges. Blackout time varies each occasion. Sometimes after a few seconds all warning light come on and stay on until vehicle shut off . Sometimes a NO GIGNAL message. Contiued after service visit with update to vehicle at about 7300 miles in January 2026. Service department acted like they have never heard of this issue.

Since taking possession of the vehicle, I have experienced two incidents involving the automatic emergency braking system activating unexpectedly, despite no obstacle or hazard being present. During one of these incidents, the vehicle braked abruptly and forcefully enough to cause an injury to my wrist. On March 7, 2026, I brought the vehicle to the dealership for inspection, where it was confirmed that there is an issue with the front right camera, which appears to be affecting the forward collision and automatic braking system. In addition, the vehicle required premature brake pad replacement due to persistent squeaking. Experiencing brake component issues on a brand-new vehicle raises further concerns about the integrity and reliability of the braking system. Brakes are a critical safety component, and premature wear or abnormal behavior so early in the vehicle’s life undermines confidence in the system designed to protect drivers and surrounding traffic. There were no warning lamps, messages or symptoms prior to the failure. The first instance occurred within 30-days of taking possession of the vehicle. The second two months later.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING Mar 5, 2026
I was driving inside a parking garage, making a right hand turn at a very slow speed (5 mph?), when my Hyundai Tucson Hybrid slammed on the breaks while in a right hand turn. There was a wall directly in front of me, perpendicular to the direction I was heading before I started to make my right hand turn. The wall was at least 15ft away. I was never at risk of hitting the wall. The breaks were applied after I was into the right hand turn. Most unusual, as I had the FCA (Forward Collision Avoidance) system turned OFF and I confirmed this by observing the symbol on my dashboard that indicated the FCA was off as soon as the breaks were applied. I don't understand how the car applied emergency braking going forward when the FCA was off.
EXTERIOR LIGHTING Mar 3, 2026
The HUD and dashboard on 2025 Hyundai tucson hybrid restart intermittently during driving, often during temperature change (e.g. from an indoor parking lot to outside) or on bumpy roads. Sometimes the HUD and the dashboard black out for a while during driving, making it impossible to determine the speed and vehicle conditions. This is threatening to safety on highways. This first happened on my new vehicle at about 5000 miles and was confirmed by a dealer. The dealer replace the main wire harness and the problem went away for a while. Now it comes back at about 8000 miles.
EXTERIOR LIGHTING Mar 3, 2026
The heads up display and dashboard display go black while driving. Sometimes it flickers on and off repeatedly which is very distracting while driving. When it is off, I cannot see speed, fuel, etc. A recall was issued for this problem, however my vehicle VIN was not included in the recall, meaning the dealer will not address it. Additionally because it happens randomly it is impossible for the dealership to recreate it with the small amount of time they can allot to driving it try to recreate the issue. Because the dealership has not been able to reproduce the issue, it continues.
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING Mar 3, 2026
I was driving on a clear day with no traffic in front of me, going approximately 35 miles an hour. My car abruptly took over the braking and suddenly stopped the car in the middle of the road. The cars coming from behind me had to swerve into the other lane to avoid a collision. It was terrifying. I contacted the dealer was told they had never heard of this happening and I probably had something stuck to the front of the camera. I said it wasn't the case and they said it was just an isolated incident and explained how I could disable the system each time I drive the Tucson if it made me feel better. There were no warning lights or other symptoms prior to this episode. They said I could bring it in and they could take it apart to look at it, but I would have to leave it for about 3 days, however they didn't think anything was wrong with it. Since they said they couldn't fix it, I didn't take it in and just disable it each time I get into the car.
EXTERIOR LIGHTING Feb 23, 2026
The contact owns a 2025 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the Forward Collision Avoidance warning light was illuminated for approximately 30-seconds to 4-minutes. Additionally, while driving in the daytime, the message “Headlights Off” was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed; however, the diagnostic result was unknown. The failure had occurred four times. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and suggested that the dealer contact an engineer to go to the residence to inspect the vehicle. The failure mileage was 3,940.
SERVICE BRAKES Feb 23, 2026
I rented this vehicle for 5 days. In those 5 days, twice while driving on the highway (at 5-10 mph under the posted speed limit due to heavy traffic, dry and clear weather), I found it necessary to brake hard due to other vehicle traffic braking hard in front of me. When I had slowed down sufficiently and felt I had sufficient space between my vehicle and the one in front of me, I let off the brake pedal, but the "forward safety" feature continued to brake until the vehicle came to a complete stop nearly causing the vehicle behind me to hit my vehicle. To be clear, no accident occurred, but in one of those instanced the vehicle behind me was within ~1ft of hitting my rear bumper. Had the vehicle behind me not been able to stop in time, there would have been an accident, and because the brakes were locked by the computer, I could not have done anything to prevent it. After the second incident (on 2-15-2026), I looked through the vehicle setup information and found it is possible to disable the "forward safety" feature to prevent additional incidents, however, that setting can only be changed then the vehicle is stationary, and it automatically turns back on every time you start the vehicle.
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING Feb 23, 2026
The brake assist feature engaged when a second car cut a corner in front of me in Peoria AZ. The brakes engaged, and while waiting for the auto brake to release, a third care came up very fast behind me. I hit the gas in fear of being rear-ended. Apparently, in fear I simultaneously pulled on the steering column and the steering column pulled out beyond its normal range. The telescoping adjustment feature no longer works. The steering wheel is locked in a downward and elongated position. I took it to the local AZ Hyundai dealer for warranty repair and they said it was due to the Kirkland Hyundai dealerships failure to install a pin that locks the steering column in place after installing a lo-jack system. The column is not covered by warranty. There were no warning signs except the dangerous auto braking system, that caused a series of failures in the vehicle. This is the 4th time this braking system has almost caused a rear-end crash. The AZ Larry Miller Hyundai dealership suggested I contact the Kirkland Hyundai dealership in WA for damages. Damages to replace the steering column and replace the missing pin lock are nearly $3000.00 There are no pictures as the steering column has been reassembled but is bent and needs to be replaced.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING Feb 20, 2026
The automatic braking that happens when the car sensor thinks you are too close to another car is dangerous. This has happened to me three different times when there were cars in front of me turning right. There was plenty of room and the car was turning so I was following, and it not only slams on the brake and makes you stop, but then it takes it a minute to reset before you can move again which then can slow traffic. I was almost rear ended two of these times. It is unsafe. You can manually turn it off, but you have to re set it every time you get in the car. I have seen many complaints about this occurring and causing people whiplash as well due to the sudden stopping on Hyundai sites.

Repeatedly cannot clean windshield while driving because the sprayers spray way too low and cannot be adjusted.
LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION Feb 16, 2026
Blindspot detection did not pick up car on my right side two times. Front collision warning is effected by the angle of the sun at certain times of the day. Dashboard dims randomly. Could be for a minute or much longer. Could dim on and off, or stay dimmed for over twenty minutes. Brought the car in twice for this problem. Claimed nothing found and tech reset the codes. Bought it in two weeks later, stating problem not fixed. Told them to check connection, suggested they might want to replace the cables, and its a known problem. Again, reset the codes. Only this time they fiddled with the dimmer control on the console and I can no longer adjust the setting.

The horn on my 2025 Hyundai Tucson Limited failed without warning in mid January 2026 and no longer functions. This creates a serious safety risk because I was unable to warn another driver while they were merging into my lane on the highway. Without a functioning horn, I cannot alert other drivers to avoid potential collisions. The vehicle was inspected by Balise Hyundai in Springfield, MA, on January 23, 2026, and the dealership confirmed the horn requires replacement. However, they cannot cannot order the replacement part because it is unavailable, possibly due to a redesign or manufacturer change. Hyundai Consumer Affairs has acknowledged the defect and confirmed there is no timeline for repair. They are not allowing dealerships to order the old part and do not have a timeline on when the redesigned part will be available. Because the horn does not function, my Massachusetts State Inspection sticker is expired and cannot be renewed until the horn is repaired, making the vehicle illegal to operate. There were no warning lamps or prior symptoms before the failure. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.

The horn in our 2025 Hyundai Tucson failed. We took the vehicle to two separate dealerships to get replaced, but were told the horns were out of stock with no ETA for parts. I followed up multiple times over several months with both dealerships, but got nowhere. This is a huge safety issue. How can Hyundai not correct this issue?
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:HORN Feb 12, 2026
The contact owns a 2025 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that the horn was inoperable. While another driver was reversing, the contact attempted to use the horn to alert the driver, but the horn failed to operate as intended. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was confirmed that the horn was not functioning properly. The dealer informed the contact that the necessary parts to repair the vehicle were on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 8,400.
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL Feb 11, 2026
The adaptive cruise control reduces speed when the car's driver camera "senses" that driver is distracted when in fact, this occurs frequently within even a 30 minute drive: it senses "distracted driving" due to wearing sunglasses, short stature making in cab camera have difficulty seeing eyes of driver, etc. This is a frequent problem in my car and a frequent problem in driver forums. This is unsafe when it slows car without warning and is stressful. Upgrades needed for safety.
SEATS Feb 9, 2026
The Child seat attachment decal is sharp and has cut my child. It has sharp edges. He cut his arm while climbing into the car.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS Feb 7, 2026
I was travelling southbound on a main urban street. I was approaching an interesting with a feeder road to a major freeway. I was in a line of cars making a right hand turn onto this feeder. Just before I was about to start turning right, the Tucson Hybrid suddenly and unexpectedly smalled on the brakes and I came to a full stop. I was HIT FROM BEHIND. There was minimal damage to the car that hit me. My car had damage to some plastic components on the bottom of my rear bumper. Total cost to repair this damage was $785. No insurance claim was filed.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS Feb 7, 2026
I was following another car on an urban main street. We were approacing a red light, we were both slowing down and my Tucson Hybrid slammed on the brakes unexpectedly when we were close to the stop the stop light. There was no risk of me hitting the car in front of me. Fortunately, there was no car behind me.
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS Feb 5, 2026
I was exiting a freeway a unusually slow speed as it was very congested, making a right hand exit. While I was in the curve of the exit ramp, the car suddently applied the brakes to a full stop. There was a car in front of me but we were going the same speed. Fortunately, the car behind me was able to stop in time and not hit me. There was no risk of me hitting the car in front of me.
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING Feb 5, 2026
I was driving straight in the left most lane on an expressway, about to make a left turn on a green left turn arrow. The vehicle in front of me was making a U-turn. My Hyundai Tucson abruptly braked quite hard. I'm not sure what caused it but I'm guessing the vehicle making U-turn slowed down a bit before the U-turn and might have triggered a forward collision avoidance braking but I didn't feel like there was a need. This caused the vehicle right behind me to also abruptly brake and if they hadn't, they might have rear-ended my car. After making the left turn, the vehicle behind me angrily overtook me because they likely didn't know it was the car's system which did this
