EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS:SWITCH
Hyundai Motor Company (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2006-2009 Accent, model year 2007-2011 Azera, Sonata and Sante Fe,2006-2011 Tucson, 2009-2011 Elantra Touring, 2007-2010 Elantra, 2008-2011 Veracruz, 2009-2011 Genesis, 2010-2011 Genesis Coupe, 2007-2008 Entourage, and 2006-2008 Tiburon vehicles. Originally, in April 2013, Hyundai recalled 1,059,824 model year 2007-2009 Accent and Tucson, model year 2007-2010 Elantra, model year 2007-2011 Santa Fe, model year 2008-2009 Veracruz, model year 2010-2011 Genesis Coupe, and model year 2011 Sonata vehicles. In September 2013, Hyundai informed the agency that it was adding more vehicles to this campaign, representing an additional 652,512 units. The total number of vehicles being recalled is now 1,712,336. In the affected vehicles, the stop lamp switch may malfunction. A malfunctioning stop lamp switch may cause the brake lights to not illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed or may cause an inability to deactivate the cruise control by depressing the brake pedal. Additionally, a malfunctioning stop lamp switch may also result in intermittent operation of the push-button start feature, affect the operation of the brake transmission shift interlock feature, preventing the shifter from being moved out of the PARK position and cause the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) malfunction light to illuminate.
Remedy: Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will replace the stop lamp switch, free of charge. The safety recall began on April 22, 2013. Owners may contact Hyundai at 1-800-633-5151. Hyundai's recall campaign number is 110.

my air bag light came on and I took it to a dealer and they said they repaired it by replacing a seat belt , a couple months later my car was in a hit and run and my front end was badly damaged and my air bags never deployed. they fixed my car and I got it back with the air bags light on again, took it back to the same dealer, they had the car and say they can't fix it, they said they looked around the country and can't find any replacement parts, they say there is no way to repair my car. My car is unsafe to drive and they say it can't be fixed and I did everything I was supposed to do with the car, took got care of it and its got low mileage for the year and now i'm being told it's out of warranty and it's my problem not the dealers or hyundia's. i'm now on SSd and can't afford a $300-500 a month payment and requested a buy back do to faulty equipment and repair and now a year later i'm still waiting to get a yes or no, my car is not safe and i'm out of luck with my car, the repair didn't work when needed, someone should be responsable for repair or equipment liability to help me find something safe to drive not all on me.

Received 24T013 By email regarding car tires. And also a underbody body rust. From Thh8s agency. The car was brought into dealership. On Oct 2024 was told by a custom service rep that it was to bad off and a control arm was being order and in 3 days l would Received a call. Randy called in November 18. Stated the manufacturer denied the calm due to the year of the car and the miles And l would received a email never received a denied email

I had taken my car in to the dealership for oil change i was told by the mechanic not to drive my car unless it was absolulute necessary my whole undercarriage has rusted out i am unable to find out if there was ever a recall on this matter but dont understand why this has not been brought to my attention before this last oil change i am a retiree living on a budget and this has been so hard on me i can not afford a new car

AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON. HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT THE LIGHT ON MEANS THE AIR BAGS ARE DISABLED AND THE AIR BAGS WOULD NOT DEPLOY IF THE LIGHT IS ON. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS I MUST HAVE THE DIAGNOSTIC TESTS DONE WHICH WILL COST ME ABOUT $125.00 IF THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH A MODULE THAT CONTROLS THE AIR BAG LIGHT I DON'T THINK THE REPAIR SHOULD COST ME ANYTHING. THIS CONCERNS ME BECAUSE OF A SAFETY ISSUE FOR MYSELF AND OTHERS IN MY VEHICLE.

WHILE DRIVING IN MOTION OR IN IDLE, CAR ENGAGES IN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. THIS IS A DANGEROUS ISSUE BECAUSE THE DRIVER MAY NOT BE AWARE OF THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION AND MAY NOT BE ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE GOING FORWARD OR BACKWARD (DEPENDING ON THE POSITION OF GEAR.) SUDDEN ACCELERATION HAPPENS EVEN WHEN DRIVER'S FOOT IS PRESSING AGAINST BREAK PEDAL. DANGEROUS SITUATIONS INCLUDE TURNING ON THE CAR FOR THE FIRST TIME DURING THE DAY TO DRIVE OUT OF THE GARAGE IN REAR MOTION. IN THIS SITUATION IT IS COMMON THAT THE CAR MOVES ABRUPTLY BACKWARDS AND ACCELERATES DOWN THE DRIVEWAY RAMP AND TOWARDS THE SIDEWALK AND STREET. IF THERE ARE PEOPLE WALKING BY THE DRIVEWAY OR SIDEWALK, OR CARS APPROACHING THE SIDEWALK, THEY MAY BE HIT. AS DRIVER MAY NOT BE ABLE TO CONTROL THE DESCENT OF THE CAR OUT OF THE GARAGE RAMP. ANOTHER VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION INVOLVING PEOPLE POTENTIALLY BEING HURT OR EVEN KILLED INCLUDES CAR STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT IN IDLE, WHILE PEOPLE ARE CROSSING THE STREET IN FRONT OF THE CAR. IT HAS ALREADY HAPPENED THAT THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND MOVED FORWARD WHILE A PERSON WAS RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE CAR, CROSSING THE STREET. THAT PERSON WAS ALMOST HIT. WHILE THERE WAS NOT ANY POTENTIAL PHYSICAL HARM, I (THE DRIVER) AND THE PERSON CROSSING THE STREET WERE VERY UPSET DUE TO THE IMMINENT DANGER. I HAVE ALREADY TAKEN THE CAR TWICE TO THE REPAIR SHOP TO LOOK AT THIS PROBLEM, BUT DESPITE COMPLETING TWO MAJOR SERVICES (COSTING ME ALMOST A THOUSAND DOLLARS), THEY HAVEN'T FIGURED OUT WHAT IS CAUSING THE ACCELERATION AND HOW TO FIX. I PLEAD THIS CASE HERE HOPING THAT THE NHTSA WILL FORCE HYUNDAI TO ISSUE A SAFETY RECALL URGENTLY.

I HAVE A 2009 HYUNDAI TUCSON. THE HORN OPERATES MOST OF THE TIME, BUT NOT ALWAYS. IT MAY BE TEMPERATURE RELATED. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER FIVE TIMES, BUT THEY SAY THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THE CONTACT WAS INJURED AND TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HYUNDAI TUCSON. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH. WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE AN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. IMMEDIATELY, EXTREME BODILY FORCE WAS REQUIRED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL UNTIL THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT ANY SPEED UNDER 15 MPH. THE IDENTICAL FAILURE OCCURRED ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE CONTACT HAS BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL IN REACHING THE MANUFACTURER AND AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 1,199.
