General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse and Chevrolet Spark EV, Caprice PPV and SS vehicles, 2014-2017 Buick Encore and Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles, 2015-2016 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe, Trax, Suburban and Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL vehicles, and 2015-2017 GMC Sierra HD 2500 and 3500 vehicles. While being previously remedied for recall 16V-651, the affected vehicles may not have received the complete software update necessary to remedy the recall condition. Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will reflash the SDM software. Vehicles that have had a previous air bag deployment will have the SDM replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2017. While driving in the highway vehicle lost power and gray smoke came out off the exhaust, it was hard to accelerate and TCS warning light and check engine light popped up. TCS warning light extinguished but check engine light still on. Cars behind me could have hit me from behind, because it was a sudden loss of speed, it made other drivers switch lanes creating the risk of crashing others or myself. I have taken the car to a mechanics and some say it’s the turbo and others say they don’t know what it can be and can’t really help me.

I am unable to control my vehicle. Something in front end of vehicle pushes and pulls the vehicle from left to right without being able to regain control. Loud popping and clunking while turning..Braking has also been a majoir issue along with suspension/steering issues. I would greatly appreciate these things to be fixed immediately beings there has been a recall years ago and I was never notified!

The paint is peeling off. It started as a bubble and then popped. There is no rust to indicate this being from wear and tear. The back and two spots on the hood are affected by this issue.
I have had multiple engine problems with my trax. For starters, shortly after I bought it in 2021 I had to have the radiator replaced, then in Aug or Sept 2022 I had to have the coil pack replaced, the in Oct 2022 the turbo needed to be replaced. Exactly 1 year after replacing the turbo, I had to replace it again in Oct 2023. Now I'm being told that these cars are having problems with Piston rings going out. After repleacing the turbo once again, my car was still acting up. I took it back to the mechanic and they told me my piston rings are shot. Due to this issue, I now need a new motor. I've been told by 3 different Automotive shops that they have replaced several engine in the past 5 months due to the Piston rings and turbo going out in them. My car is a sitting duck. I'm highly mad. To add full to the fire, some of my features are not working due to an electrical issue.

My 2015 blue Chevy Trax is under 38k miles and the paint is peeling off the tailgate under the window. After finding out that many of my same car, same color are having the exact same issue in the same spot. I can provide pictures of when the peeling started happening and in a short amount of time how much has come off. My safety has not been put at risk. It has been taken to an authorized Chevy dealership and was told that there was nothing they could do, I showed all the other cars of my same model and color having the same issue and they said because there was no recall there was nothing they could do. This seems to be a factory defect with the car, but it is being ignored by Chevy because it is out of warrently timeline.
The passenger side control arm is messed up and this is throwing the vehicle out of alignment

I have recently heard what could best be described as a squealing sound. I could also smell fuel inside the vehicle while driving. I thought it was oil that had leaked onto the serpentine belt and had it replaced but the noise continued. Listening closer I realized it was coming from the area around the intake manifold. Searching online I found several YouTube videos and comments from people mentioning loose spark plugs caused their issue. Checking mine I found that two of the four spark plugs were loose enough to not require a wrench to remove them. Tightening them eliminated the noise. I have owned this vehicle since it was brand new and have never asked a mechanic to check or replace spark plugs, nor have I done it myself. I did recently replace the intake manifold, which required removing and reinstalling the ignition coil. I feel like loose spark plugs represent a fire hazard as it allow the fuel to blow past the cylinders and into the engine compartment.

When I’m driving I started to hear the gear shifter sound like it’s moving inbetween drive or maybe out of drive I’m not really sure. Then after that happens when I stop driving and turn the car off the car won’t release the key from the ignition. I have to wait for it to lock itself into park and then the key will release.

Component premature failure. 1. Purge valve replaced at 61,048 miles 2. Coolant flange and seal replaced at 61,511 miles 3. P0299 indicates problem with turbo charger compromised boost power, - injector control pressure sensor - EGR - MAP - Accelerator pedal Input I have to pay a expensive diagnostic from the dealer to find out the issue, it’s too expensive to do that now after Covid-19 money is scarce.

While stopped and ready to move forward when I press the accelerator the car jerks only from stop to go forward it hesitates. It has the same transmission symptoms as other car I had. I’m very concerned about this issue because a transmission it’s very expensive and can’t afford to fix it due to Covid-19 have no money. Considering how much the dealers charge for a diagnostic it’s ridiculously expensive just to check a problem they already know that exists. Please help.
#1 - Safety Issue of the Passenger Rear Door's Lock will not lock/unlock (button will not go up and down) to be able to get in or out of car from the back seat - the 'motor'? can be heard engaging when either the door lock/unlock button is pressed or the key fob is pressed to lock/unlock - but the button is stuck in a position that you cannot pull it up to get in or out of the car. ------ #2 - Safety Issue of the Back Seat Safety Belts near door continues to twist within an area that cannot easily be gotten to, causing the Safety Belt to not be able to be pulled out or retract - making them unable to be used, as they are jammed and cannot fit around a person to lock into the clasp to hold them into the back seat. WITH ONLY 62,000 MILES THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL HAS A CRACK IN THE SIDE OF THE CASING. THIS ISSUE LEADS TO THE COMPLETE DRAINAGE OF THE DIFFERENTIAL FLUID. THIS IS AN ISSUE IN MULTIPLE CHEVY TRAX MODELS. IT HAS POTENTIAL TO SEIZE THE DIFFERENTIAL AND CAUSE A LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE WAS FOUND WHILE DRIVING AND A LOUD NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL.
MY KEY WILL NOT COME OUT OF THE IGNITION WHEN PUT IN PARK AND TRYING TO EXIT THE VEHICLE.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY 2015 CHEVY TRAX, THE TRANSMISSION GOT STUCK IN THIRD GEAR. I SWITCHED TO MANUAL AND IT STILL WOULDN'T MOVE OUT OF THIRD GEAR. IN ORDER TO GET IT OFF THE ROAD, I HAD TO DRIVE IT TO A SAFE PLACE. SITTING AT A RED LIGHT IN DRIVE, I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BREAK AND THE CAR DIDN'T INCH FORWARD LIKE NORMAL. THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT WAS ON SO WAS THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT. THERE IS ONLY 80,000 MILES ON THE CAR. THE RECOMMENDED MILEAGE TO SERVICE IS 100,000 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE.
EXPERIENCED SEVERE MECHANICAL ISSUES, SUCH AS THE ENGINE OVERHEATING, TEMPERATURE GAUGE BREAKING, COOLANT SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONING, BATTERY HAVING TO BE REPLACE TWICE, BRAKES OVERHEATING, BRAKES UNABLE TO COME TO A FULL STOP, BRAKES SQUEAKING, VEHICLE SQUEAKING WHEN BACKING UP, THROTTLE JUMPING, AND THE STABILITY TRACK ALSO BREAKING
Crash

I BOUGHT A USED 2015 CHEVY TRAX IN NOV 2019. ONE OIL CHANGE INTO MY TRAX IN FEB 2020 THE PAINT STARTED BUBBLING AND COMING OFF IN THE SNOW IN MY DRIVEWAY SITTING! THEN MORE STARTED COMING OFF. I NOW HAVE 2 SPOTS ON THE BACK HATCH AND BOTH SIDES OF THE HOOD. I LIVE IN WI. THE DEALERSHIP WOULD PAY1/2 OF THE TOUCH UP OR I COULD TRADE IT IN AND THEN HAVE A VEHICLE PAYMENT. I PAID ALMOST 13,000. FOR IT. BECAUSE THE COVID 19 STRUCK I HAD TO WAIT CAUSING MY VEHICLE TO APPARENTLY LOOSE 1/2 OF WHAT I PAID FOR IT! DEALERSHIP OFFERED ME 6THOUSAND! I CONTACTED GM AND WAS TOLD AFTER SOME PHONE CALLS THAT GM WOULD PAY FOR IT...THEN MY CASE WAS GIVEN TO SOMEONE ELSE AND THE OFFER WAS TAKEN BACK.
