On May 20, 2026, at approximately 14,600 miles, I discovered a stress fracture in the windshield of my 2025 Toyota Camry XSE immediately after going through an automated car wash. There were no prior warning signs, unusual sounds, or visible stress marks before the crack appeared. The crack originated at the driver's side edge where the glass meets the roofline at the bonded perimeter — a locat
... ion inconsistent with road debris or external impact damage, which typically produces an impact point in the field of the glass rather than at the bonded edge. The crack extended downward approximately 5-7 inches in an arc pattern. There was no impact event. The crack appeared spontaneously under the mechanical stress of a standard automated car wash on a nearly new vehicle. The crack subsequently spread and created a reflective arc that directed sunlight directly into my eyes while driving, creating a significant safety hazard and impairing my ability to drive safely. I filed an insurance claim through Progressive and had the windshield replaced with OEM Toyota glass by Safelite on June 3, 2026. Note: Within 24 hours of OEM replacement, a second windshield failure occurred on June 4, 2026 while driving through Utah on I-70. This second failure suggests a potential systemic defect in Toyota Camry windshield glass rather than isolated external damage. A separate NHTSA complaint will be filed for this second incident once replacement documentation is complete.Read more

Shortly after a recall repair was completed, I experienced a sudden loss of motive power while driving approximately 45 mph on a public roadway. At the time of the incident, the vehicle had approximately half a tank of gasoline remaining. I observed the high-voltage battery gauge reach approximately 1% state of charge. Immediately after the battery gauge reached that level, the vehicle suddenly lo
... st power and appeared to stall while in motion. I received no warning before the failure occurred. At the time of the event, a battery system failure warning appeared along with a plug icon on the dashboard. I was forced to pull off the roadway and bring the vehicle to a complete stop. The vehicle had to be placed in Park and restarted before it would operate again. Fortunately, there was a safe area available to pull over. Had this occurred in heavier traffic or where there was no safe shoulder, it could have created a serious safety hazard. I returned the vehicle to the dealership. The dealership retained the vehicle for approximately one week but advised they could not duplicate the failure and could not identify a cause. I was told to keep the vehicle charged. My concern is that the incident occurred immediately after the battery gauge reached approximately 1% state of charge. Based on the timing of the event, I am concerned there may be a problem related to the transition from electric/hybrid operation to gasoline engine operation when the high-voltage battery reaches a very low state of charge. I am not claiming this is the cause, only that the timing appears significant. To my knowledge, the vehicle was kept charged during dealership testing, and I do not know whether the battery was allowed to reach the same low state of charge that existed when the failure occurred. A sudden loss of motive power while driving creates a significant safety risk, and I have not received a clear explanation for the cause of the failure or assurance that it will not happen again.Read more

Sudden deceleration at highway speed creates immediate risk of rear-end collision from following traffic and loss of vehicle control. Prior dealer confirmation: Yes. The dealer has not permanently resolved the issue — symptoms have now recurred at sixth time. An additional early service visit at the same dealer was not documented with a repair order; I retain contemporaneous text messages establishing that visit occurred. Other inspections: Inspected only by Curry Chevrolet to date. GM Customer Assistance engaged (Case #XXX). No police, insurance, or independent inspections. New case has been filed with GM, linked to the previous (Case #XXX).Next service visit will be at a different authorized Chevrolet dealer for an independent diagnostic. Warning indicators: Yes. When turning off the vehicle the key gets stuck in the ignition. I have to keep turning the vehicle several times and keep moving the shifter to get it to release at least 4 to six times before the key comes out. This happens daily. It started in May and continues to be a daily happening.
