Vehicle: 2018 Honda Civic EX Sedan VIN: [XXX] Mileage: Approximately 150,000 miles Component: Steering / Electric Power Steering (EPS) I am reporting a potentially serious steering safety issue with my 2018 Honda Civic EX sedan. The steering wheel has developed a sticky/notchy feeling when turning to the right. When making a right-hand turn, the steering does not feel smooth and at times feels a
... s though something is holding or resisting the steering wheel while it is turned. The steering feels normal when turning left. The problem occurs at both low and high speeds, but it becomes significantly more noticeable at higher speeds. It is especially noticeable when taking highway exit ramps or other longer right-hand curves where I have to maintain the steering wheel in a right-turn position. During these situations, the steering can feel like it is resisting my steering input rather than moving smoothly. Normal right-hand turns at lower speeds also exhibit the problem, although it is less noticeable. The left side does not exhibit the same behavior. This is concerning because the steering behavior is inconsistent between left and right turns and becomes more pronounced at highway speeds. A steering system that sticks or resists steering input during a highway curve could cause the driver to make an unexpected additional steering input or overcorrect, potentially increasing the risk of losing control of the vehicle. The vehicle currently has approximately 150,000 miles. I have checked the vehicle’s VIN for open recalls and there are currently no unrepaired recalls associated with the VIN. I am reporting this issue because I believe the steering behavior may represent a safety defect, particularly given that the problem occurs during normal driving and becomes more pronounced at highway speeds. I am requesting that NHTSA review this complaint for possible similar steering/EPS issues affecting other 2018 Honda Civic vehicles. I was 2 qtrs. LOW, XXX My vehicle was inspected and according to them "passed". 0W-40 was introduced and a new oil cap indicates the change. G
... M explains that it is acceptable to burn up to 2 qtrs. of oil between oil changes. They have me come to the dealer every 1,000 miles to check the oil level. I came back from a work-related function, putting approx. 220 miles. It was time for oil level inspection, and my engine was found to be 1/2qtr. LOW. I ask them to top it off and I was told; “we do not stock this oil in bulk; you have to buy a qt. and we'll put it in." I have been a car owner since I was [XXX], now [XXX] and have never heard such nonsense in my life. In fact, in my lifetime, I have NOT experienced engine burning oil. This is a 6.2 liter with 57,700 and my fear is that something catoptric will happen to the motor resulting in no recourse. I own a 2025 Kia EV6 Wind RWD. At approximately 14,655 miles, the vehicle experienced a confirmed Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) failure that resulted in loss of 12-volt charging and reduced motive power. On August 1, 2026, while reversing the vehicle, I heard a loud pop from underneath the rear seating area. Immediately afterward, the red 12-volt battery warning light illuminated and th
... e vehicle displayed a “Check Electrical Vehicle System” message. Because I was concerned that the vehicle was no longer charging the 12-volt battery, I externally charged the 12-volt battery with a smart charger and then measured the battery voltage with a multimeter. With the vehicle off, the battery measured 12.99 volts. After starting the vehicle and confirming it was in READY mode, the voltage measured only 12.35 volts, indicating that the vehicle was not maintaining the 12-volt electrical system. When I drove the vehicle to Hilltop Kia on August 3, 2026, the vehicle had substantially reduced propulsion and would not exceed approximately 45 mph. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and documented DTC P1A961C, “LDC Internal Power Supply,” and DTC P1A9096, “LDC Input Voltage Sensor.” The dealer’s Kia diagnostic system showed LDC input voltage of only 1.7 volts, compared with a stated typical value of approximately 565.5 volts. The dealer replaced the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU), part number 36400-1XF06, and the high-voltage ICCU fuse, part number 375F2-GI040, under warranty. While driving southbound on the [XXX] in a rented 2023 Kia EV6 from The Hertz Corporation, picked up in [XXX] on XXX, the vehicle entered "Power Limited" mode without warning. The vehicle lost normal propulsion and decelerated from highway speed to a crawl, forcing 4-5 emergency stops onto the highway shoulder over several miles while semi-trucks passed at 70+ mph in live traffic, with two minor c
... hildren in the vehicle. The vehicle was ultimately abandoned at a highway rest stop on Hertz Roadside Assistance's instruction and towed. This vehicle was subject to three NHTSA recall campaigns for the ICCU defect that produces exactly this failure mode: 24V057000 (SC295, driveshaft, notice mailed XXX), 24V200000 (SC302, ICCU 12V charging failure/Power Limited mode, notice mailed XXX), and 24V867000 (SC327, expanded ICCU remedy superseding SC302, notice mailed XXX) — all mailed well before this vehicle was rented to me on XXX. Under 49 U.S.C. §30120(i), a rental company may not rent a covered rental vehicle subject to an unremedied safety recall. I am requesting NHTSA use its inspection authority under 49 U.S.C. §30166 to determine whether Hertz completed the required SC327 remedy on this vehicle before renting it to me, and to review Hertz's fleet-wide recall compliance for its Kia EV6 inventory. This does not appear to be an isolated incident: NHTSA complaint ODI XXX, filed XXX, describes a near-identical failure — a rented 2023 Kia EV6 (Dollar Rent A Car, a Hertz-owned brand) losing power and shutting down multiple times on the freeway during a single trip, also towed. Two renters, two Hertz-family rentals, same defect signature, five months apart. Hertz has been on written and verbal notice of this incident since XXX, and I sent a formal written demand on XXX with a response deadline of XXX. As of this filing, Hertz has not responded. SRS / airbag light permanently remain on which indicates a fault with the system. Technician said it’s most likely due to a faulty sensor in the passenger seat.

I was driving and during the drive I realized that if the accelerator pedal was pressed more than the lightest touch the car would stop accelerating. I decided that I had to turn back to go home, and during my return trip the engine oil pressure lamp started flashing at me. Soon after, I entered a roundabout and pressed the clutch. At this moment the engine stopped working (tach to 0 rpm) and I ha
... d to coast and pull over. The starter worked but the engine did not turn over--it was seized. Prior to that day, it seemed like the car was having trouble with its turbocharger--boost was delayed at first and later intermittent. Since I was on a mostly empty road this did not pose a safety threat to others, though I did slow down traffic as I pulled over on a two-lane road. If this same issue had happened later into my drive on a busier road or highway, mine and others' safety would have been put at risk due to my car suddenly not working with little warning. The engine is seized and needs to be replaced. It would be available for inspection as I have not yet replaced it. The current cost to repair has been quoted to me at between $9000 and $10000.Read more

What happened is i bought a truck that Ford knows good & well has a defective CDF drum and outer shell but they refuse to issue a recall to fix the transmissions in those year models! Yet in late 2022 they acknowledged the problem and updated the 22+ year models with the correct parts while leaving those of us with the prior 4yrs of trucks out in the cold! My truck is currently undergoing getting
... a new transmission and it hasn't even reached 70K yet. At 61K I had to have all timing components along with a new oil pump replaced due to the common oil consumption issues on the 13th gen models. Now 8K miles later I'm having to have a new transmission because it started with all the common problems and known issues that everyone else has had with the 13th gen trucks. This is absolutely ridiculous and no if's, and's or but's about it Ford should be liable for it! Every single one of us especially those of us below 100K should be reimbursed. It is a disgrace to own and pay for a vehicle that spends more time at the shop than it does in your driveway! I am fuming mad. Due to my age and health condition this was supposed to be the last vehicle I ever buy yet being on a fixed income I now have a truck that I cannot trust to get me safely to my Dr's appointments or even the local places I have to visit on a weekly basis. Absolutely ludicrous! I have all invoices of all work that has been done and that info has also been put into the Carfax records. The shop i use is very proficient when it comes to recording the information. Within a week once the new transmission is installed I will have that invoice as well as it being loaded into the Carfax records.Read more
