Incident Narrative
An employee was conducting wildland fire fighting. A pump had been operating for a long duration at a high pressure. The employee relieved the pressure by opening the gated wye valve. Water pressure shot the hose and wye valve into his path, striking his face. The employee sustained fractures to his orbital bone(s) and nose, and an injury to a tear duct.
