Incident Narrative

Employees were changing a hydraulic cylinder on the log turner of a head saw. One employee turned the saw on to advance the cylinder for installation. He noticed a crowbar on the takeaway belt, turned the saw off, and motioned for someone to move the crowbar. The injured employee retrieved the crowbar and contacted the blade which was slowing down, but not stopped. The employee sustained a laceration to the lower left arm and hand. His left index finger was medically amputated.
