Incident Narrative
On June 10, 2022, an employee was moving an awning to the end of a box truck to unload it. The awning measured 16 feet by 15 inches by 12 inches and weighed 236 pounds. The employee was grabbing plastic nylon strapping in order to pull the awning when the strapping broke and he fell backward off the truck approximately 4 feet to the ground. He landed on his back and hit his head on the ground. The employee suffered an L2 compression fracture and a possible concussion that required hospitalization.
