Incident Narrative
A Steeltech employee was using a hoist to lift an 8-10 foot, 150-200 pound handrail for installation on a staircase. The shackle snagged as the rail was lifted, and the welding point on the staircase snapped. The top two steps of the staircase collapsed and struck the employee's lower back, breaking his tailbone and lacerating his right leg. He was hospitalized and underwent surgery.
