Incident Narrative

An employee was operating an overhead crane. He was moving the overhead trolley into position over the load by trolleying toward his position. The hook of a rigging chain caught on the flange of an I-beam girder to be moved, knocking the 4,600 lb. girder over onto him. The flange of the girder struck his lower left leg, causing a compound fracture just above the ankle.
