An employee was on the bow of a tug boat on the Mississippi River cleaning the cutter head. A large boat passed by causing a wave. The employee put his hand on the bit to catch his balance. The boat rocked up and his right pinky finger was smashed between the bit and the cutter head resulting in amputation.
