"A PUBLIC OPERATED VEHICLE LOST CONTROL, RAN OFF THE ROAD, AND COLLIDED WITH AN ABOVE-GROUND 10"" VALVE SETTING. THE VEHICLE BROKE A 2"" BLOW-DOWN FROM ONE SIDE OF THE 10"" VALVE SETTING FORCING A SHUT-DOWN OF THAT SECTION OF MAIN BETWEEN THIS 10"" VALVE AND THE NEXT 10"" MAIN-LINE VALVE FOR A DISTANCE OF 4.35 MILES. ONLY 18 CUSTOMERS WERE AFFECTED FOR A PERIOD OF TWO HOURS IN THIS RURAL AREA DURING WHICH TIME REPAIRS WERE BEING MADE."
