Incident Narrative
ON 05/07/2022 AT 02:15 CDST A LOCAL OPERATOR AT FREEPORT TERMINAL WAS MAKING STATION ROUNDS AND IDENTIFIED A LEAK COMING FROM METER BANK 2 DENSITOMETER PIPING. THE LEAK WAS THEN IMMEDIATELY ISOLATED. 0.5 BARRELS OF CRUDE OIL WERE RELEASED AND HAVE BEEN CLEANED UP. UPON INVESTIGATION, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE CAUSE WAS DUE TO EXTERNAL CORROSION UNDER INSULATION. TO PREVENT RECURRENCE, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE PIPE AT THIS LOCATION NO LONGER REQUIRED INSULATION. THE PIPING HAS BEEN REPLACED AND REMEDIATION IS COMPLETE.
