"THE USE OF MECHANIZED EQUIPMENT IN THE TOLERANCE ZONE & EXCAVATOR FAILED TO SUPPORT AND PROTECT FACILITIES. WATER COMPANY CONTRACTOR WAS ON A SITE TO INSTALL WATER SERVICE TO A CUSTOMER. TAPPING WHAT THEY BELIEVED WAS THE WATER MAIN, WAS INSTEAD AN 8"" HIGH PRESSURE GAS MAIN. THE WATER CONTRACTOR STOPPED WHEN GAS WAS RELEASED AND REPORTED A GAS LEAK."
