"ON DECEMBER 10, 2023, TENNESSEE GAS PIPELINE WAS MADE AWARE OF A POTENTIAL LEAK ON LINE 100-1 NEAR EDNA, TX. OPERATIONS RESPONDED AT 12:45 AND CONFIRMED THE LEAK AT 12:50. THE UPSTREAM AND DOWNSTREAM VALVES WERE CLOSED AT 12:55 TO SHUT IN THE LEAKING SEGMENT. TOTAL ESTIMATED UNINTENTIONAL RELEASE IS 8,270MCF. VISUAL EXAMINATION REVEALED A 20-INCH LONG CRACK IN THE HEAT-AFFECTED ZONE OF A PRESSURE WELD AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PIPE BETWEEN THE 4:40 AND 8:00 POSITIONS. AT THE 6:00 POSITION, THE PRESSURE WELD EXHIBITED 0.17 INCHES OF RADIAL OFFSET. METALLURGICAL TESTING WAS PERFORMED AND MISALIGNMENT WAS THE CAUSE OF THE CRACK."
