Incident Narrative
"TRAIN DERAILED FROM TRACKS AND PUNCTURED A BURIED 14"" NATURAL GAS PIPELINE. THE PIPELINE SHUTDOWN WAS DELAYED DUE TO COORDINATION WITH INDUSTRIAL CUSTOMER PROCESS. THE CUSTOMER HAD TO SWITCH OVER TO ALTERNATIVE FUEL BEFORE THE PIPELINE WAS SHUTDOWN. AFTER THE PIPELINE WAS SHUTDOWN, THE DERAILED TRAINS WERE REMOVED, AND 60 FEET OF PIPE WAS REPLACED. THE PIPELINE WAS PURCHASED FROM THE US GOVMT IN MARCH OF 1948. ORIGINAL PIPE INFORMATION IS UNKNOWN."
