The contact owns a 2018 Land Rover Discovery Sport. The contact stated that the gear shifter failed to shift into park(P). Several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the gear shifter assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 55,700.

The recommendation was a complete engine replacement after the diagnosis was done by an authorized Land Rover service center. This occurred roughly 13k miles after the vehicle was serviced for persistent misfires and rough idling. The CVVL unit and PCV Assembly parts were replaced at that time.

My car suddenly idles low and stops when foot was not on gas which cause the car to suddenly stops. It is unsafe to drive it now until it is fixed. It is 2018 and I bought this as used car at a Land Rover dealership 2/27/2022.

The mechanic then, pushed the vehicle inside the garage and put it up on a lift and diagnosed it and then told my parents that the brake lines had blown and that it was unusual and that this was a manufacture problem and Land Rover needed to be contacted or for us to go online under this website and file a complaint. We may have to retain an attorney because my parents only bought this vehicle less then a year ago and already almost lost both of their lives due to the brakes going out and brake lines bursting. About a year and a half ago the vehicles warning lights started show thing like check engine, coolant low, battery low, engine overheating and the fan would start running very loudly and thw start stop feature stoped workong even though it indicated it was working. I took it to the dealership and they said they had fix whatever was wrong. A few months later it started up again but this time while going up a busy hill the vehicle started making a loud whining sound, was loosing power and eventually died completely. No lights no starter no nothing. Very dangerous for me and other drivers because it was a sudden stop.I had it towed to my home and the next day to the dealership. After a few days they called me and told me that the vehicle had experienced a "mechanical failure" and that Land Rover decided to ship a new engine to be installed. After a week I had what felt like a brand new car. Now a little over a year later the vehicle is doing the exact same thing with the warning lights, the fan, the loss of power, the stop start function not working, and this time it's no longer under warranty according to the dealership. I've decided to stop driving it because I'm afraid it may cut off during my drive to or from work in the freeway and get myself and or someone else killed.

The Power Transfer Unit(PTU) failed catastrophically at the rear pinion. This is available for inspection until it is repaired. This could have caused a major crash, at the time I was on the interstate only going 30-40mph and was able to get to the shoulder. But if I had been going faster there was a possibility of me pole-vaulting. Unknown The component is currently being inspected by the dealer. It wasn’t involved in a crash so the police/ insurance aren’t inspecting it. There were no warning lamps, before and after the incident. The only possible sign could have been a slight whining when the car was in lower gears. However that had been the case since the car was first bought. And when we asked the dealer they said it was normal.
I was driving and the vehicle car stalled it said gear box defect and switched from reverse to drive to neutral but would not move. I think this is dangerous since my car was already in drive and suddenly stalling could've caused an accident. Luckily there was no car behind me or it would have rear ended me.

The vehicle has a terrible delay when accelerating from a rolling stop between 8-11 mph. If you try to accelerate and the vehicle is at this speed, the delay is about 2-3 seconds before the transmission gets it into gear.

Roof panel trim blew off. This was very dangerous as I was on the highway. The panel could have hit a car behind me causing as accident. There is a technician bulletin that land rover is aware of. This is very dangerous when these panels are not secure and coming off when driving

1) Low Coolant warning started flashing. I had the coolant checked on two days by different people and it was full both times. Both times I was told its a sensor issue, the dealership service center should look into it and all components and replace as necessary. 2) Occasionally when putting the car in park it automatically shuts off and locks in gear. 3) Occasionally when yielding the car is sluggish or there is no power at all when taking off again. All three issues put my safety, those with me and on the road with me at risk. The earliest appointment with the dealer is 24 days out. I bought it as a Certified Used Vehicle 8 weeks ago.
THIS VEHICLE LOSES POWER WHILE OPERATING AT ANY SPEED. WHILE GOING 70MPH OUT OF NOWHERE IT GOES DOWN TO 40 WITHIN SECONDS WITH ZERO WARNING AND 3 ACCIDENTS HAVE ALMOST HAPPENED. IT WAS "FIXED" ONCE BY A LOCAL LAND ROVER DEALER BUT HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES SINCE. THE "D" FOR THE DRIVE GEAR FLASHES RED WHEN THIS HAPPENS, IT APPEARS THE VEHICLE IS GOING INTO LYMP MODE AND IS ABSOLUTELY UNSAFE TO DRIVE.

WHEN ENGINE COLD AND SHIFTING INTO REVERSE IT WILL TAKE ABOUT 2 SECONDS FOR CAR TO START MOVING. MY FAMILY IS PUSHING ON GAS IN THAT SMALL WINDOW. WHEN THE CAR MOVES IT IS QUICKLY ACCELERATING STARTLING THE DRIVER.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V087000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE); HOWEVER, THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. LAND ROVER OF ALEXANDRIA (2712 DUKE ST, ALEXANDRIA, VA) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE DEALER ALSO CONFIRMED THE LEAK. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE PARTS SHOULD BE AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 14,400. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
