(LAND ROVER) IS RECALLING CERTAIN REAR DRIVESHAFT COUPLINGS, LAND ROVER BRANDED PART NUMBER TVF100010, MANUFACTURED FROM APRIL 2011 THROUGH NOVEMBER 2011, SOLD FOR USE AS SERVICE PARTS FOR CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 1995-1999 DISCOVERY, 1999-2004 DISCOVERY II, AND 1995 RANGE ROVER CLASSIC VEHICLES. SOME OF THE REAR DRIVESHAFT COUPLINGS MAY NOT HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED TO THE REQUIRED ENGINEERING DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS AND MAY EXHIBIT THE ONSET OF JOINT SEPARATION, PRECLUDED BY DRIVE LINE VIBRATION.

MILEAGE WHEN TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP WAS 78,490. FIVE DAYS AFTER PURCHASING VEHICLE, HAD THE REAR BRAKE PADS REPLACED; YET, NO IMPROVEMENT ON BRAKING DISTANCE, FEEL OF BRAKE PEDAL. POWER STEERING PUMP FAILED A FEW MONTH AGO AND THE WARRANTY COMPANY REPLACED IT IN MAY 07 W/A GENERIC PUMP. 2 WEEKS LATER IT FAILED AGAIN, BUT THIS TIME RUINED THE RESERVOIR AND RADIATOR, SO THOSE ITEMS HAD TO BE REPLACED AS WELL. THE DEALER REPLACED W/ A LR PSPUMP, BUT IT FAILED. SO THEY REPLACED IT WITH ANOTHER, BUT IT FAILED ONE WEEK LATER. THE WARRANTY COMPANY APPROVED AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT, WHICH WAS COMPLETED. I HAD THE CAR ONE DAY AND IT WAS RETURNED TO LR B/C IT WAS MAKING A HORRIBLE NOISE. LR REPLACED THE RACK AND PINION STEERING. I DROVE THE CAR FOR ONE WEEK AND THE POWER STEERING PUMP FAILED WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND I COULD NOT STEER THE VEHICLE. LR TOWED THE CAR AND REPLACED THE PS PUMP AGAIN. I JUST PICKED IT UP YESTERDAY. *TR
FRONT DRIVE SHAFT BROKE OFF DURING FREEWAY DRIVING. VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN USED OFFROAD. THIS IS VERY UNUSUAL AND MANY OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS RESULTS IN DANGEROUS DRIVING CONSEQUENCES. OUR VEHICLE ONLY HAS 46,000 MILES. *TR

I HAVE OWNED MY 2002 LAND ROVER DISCOVERY SE FOR 2 YEARS. ABOUT 8-9 MONTHS AGO, I NOTICED THAT AT CERTAIN SPEEDS, MY STEERING WHEEL WILL SHAKE BACK AND FORTH, OR SHIMMY, SOMETIMES SOMEWHAT VIOLENTLY. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO ARISTOCRAT MOTORS, THE ONLY SERVICE CENTER IN MY AREA FOR LAND ROVERS, AND HAVE DESCRIBED THE PROBLEM THREE TIMES. THE FIRST TIME THEY SAID THEY CHECKED THE TIRES AND THEY WERE FINE. THAT WAS IT. THE SECOND TIME, I CALLED AND ASKED WHY IT WAS DOING IT, AND WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT THAT'S JUST WHAT LAND ROVERS DO AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT. THE THIRD TIME, I WAS TOLD THE WHEELS AREN'T UNBALANCED AND THAT'S THE LAST THEY SAID ABOUT IT. I HAVE A FOURTH APPOINTMENT TO TAKE IT IN FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AND EXPECT THEM TO FIX IT OR I FEEL THEY SHOULD BE HELD LIABLE IF IT BREAKS LATER AFTER THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. *JB

"NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN 04V005000" ON THE ABS VALVE COVER BOLT. AFTER HAVING THE ABS MODULATOR ASSEMBLY VALVE COVERS STRENGTHENED AND THE RETAINING BOLTS REPLACED, THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY WHEN THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, BUT MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE BRAKES FAILED TWICE WITHIN A 10 MONTH PERIOD. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE BRAKES WERE NOISY. *TC *JB

THE DRIVE LINE ON OUR 2002 LANDROVER DISCOVERY II IS GOING OUT ON OUR SUV. WE HAVE DISCUSSED THE PROBLEM IN DEPTH WITH THE DEALER BUT AS OF YET THE SITUATION IS UNRESOLVED. THEY FEEL THAT BECAUSE THE CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY THAT WE SHOULD FIX IT OURSELVES. I FEEL THAT ON A CAR THIS NEW THAT THE DRIVE LINE SHOULD NOT BE DEFECTIVE AS WE DO NOT OFF ROAD IN THIS VEHICLE. THE CAR ALSO HAS A BAD HEATER CORE WHICH WILL COST ANOTHER 1200.00 TO FIX. *AK
TIRES (GOODYEAR) WEAR UNEVEN (SIGNIFICANT CUPPING AFTER 10K MILES) AND INCREASE RISK OF TIRE FAILURE. LAND ROVER DEALERS AND CUSTOMER CARE ARE AWARE OF THIS OEM COMPONENT FAILURE IN THEIR DISCORVERY II VEHICLES BUT ARE NEGLIGENT AND REFUSE TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. LAND ROVER KNOWS THAT THIS FAILURE DOES NOT OCCUR WHEN THEIR VEHICLES ARE EQUIPPED WITH MICHELIN TIRES. *PH
