ISUZU IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 1998-2002 ISUZU RODEO AND MODEL YEAR 2002 ISUZU AXIOM VEHICLES, AND HONDA IS RECALLING CERTAIN 1998-2002 HONDA PASSPORT VEHICLES, THAT WERE ORIGINALLY SOLD, OR ARE CURRENTLY REGISTERED, IN THE STATES OF MAINE, NEW HAMPSHIRE, VERMONT, MASSACHUSETTS, RHODE ISLAND, CONNECTICUT, NEW YORK, NEW JERSEY, PENNSYLVANIA, DELAWARE, MARYLAND, THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, WEST VIRGINIA, OHIO, INDIANA, MICHIGAN, ILLINOIS, WISCONSIN, MINNESOTA, IOWA, MISSOURI, AND KENTUCKY. VEHICLES THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED SUSTAINED EXPOSURE TO HIGHLY CORROSIVE MATERIALS USED IN SOME JURISDICTIONS FOR ROAD DEICING PURPOSES MAY EXPERIENCE EXCESSIVE CORROSION IN THE VICINITY OF THE FORWARD MOUNTING POINT BRACKET FOR THE LEFT OR RIGHT REAR SUSPENSION LOWER LINK PRIOR TO THE TIME THAT SUCH CORROSION WOULD NORMALLY BE EXPECTED.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE REAR SUSPENSION LOWER LINK BRACKET AREA. FOR VEHICLES IN WHICH LITTLE OR NO CORROSION IS FOUND, THE AREA WILL BE TREATED WITH AN ANTI-CORROSIVE COMPOUND. FOR VEHICLES IN WHICH CORROSION HAS DAMAGED THE REAR SUSPENSION LOWER LINK BRACKET AND AFFECTED ITS CONNECTION TO THE VEHICLE FRAME, A REINFORCEMENT BRACKET WILL BE INSTALLED. IN THE RARE EVENT THE CORROSION IS SO SEVERE THAT THE REINFORCEMENT BRACKET REMEDY WOULD NOT BE APPROPRIATE, A REPURCHASE OFFER WILL BE EXTENDED TO THE VEHICLE'S OWNER. ALL INSPECTIONS AND REMEDIES WILL BE PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE FOR VEHICLES THAT ARE 10 YEARS OLD OR LESS. FOR VEHICLES OLDER THAN 10 YEARS, ISUZU WILL OFFER A FREE REMEDY, BUT ONLY IF THE VEHICLE IS PRESENTED TO AN ISUZU SERVICE FACILITY, OR HONDA DEALER (AS APPLICABLE), DEALER WITHIN 12 MONTHS OF WHEN OWNER NOTIFICATIONS WERE ISSUED. WHILE DRIVING TO WORK, VEHICLE STARTED SWAYING IN THE BACK LIKE IT WAS HYDROPLANING. SAME THING HAPPENED ON WAY HOME. DIDN'T DRIVE IT DURING THE NEXT TWO DAYS, SAME THING HAPPENED THE NEXT TIME. ON FOURTH DAY, I NOTICED A BRACKET HAD COME APART FROM THE RUSTED FRAME. CAR WAS BOUGHT IN 2018, AND AM STILL PAYING FOR IT. DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THE RECALL.

THE VEHICLE REAR SUSPENSION RUSTED TO THE POINT THAT WHILE DRIVING THE STABILIZING BAR DETATCHED WHILE VEHICLE WAS ON THE ROAD. THE FAILURE OCCURED AFTER RECALL REPAIR WAS PREFORMED 7 YEARS EARLIER. AT THIS POINT THE IZUSU COMPANY IS ONLY WILLING TO BUY THE VEHICLE BACK AT 1888.00 US DOLLARS THW VEHICLE ONLY HAD 155000 MIL4ES AND IS 16 YEARS OLD. THE COMPANY INSPECTER STATED THAT THE RECALL FIX WAS ONLY A WAX WHICH I WAS NEVER ALERTED TO UNTILL AFTER THE FAILURE OCCURED. I THE COMPANY NOTIFIED ME OF THR RECALL FIX I WOULD HAVE TAKEN THE RESPONSIBLE STEPS TO FURTHER REINFORSE VEHICLE SUSPENION AS TI PREVENT AN UNSAFE HIGHWAY OCCUANCE.

I DRIVE A 2001 ISUZU RODEO. IT HAS APPROXIMATELY 111,000 MILES ON IT AND IS IN GREAT SHAPE. IT IS GARAGED YEAR-ROUND IN SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. I STARTED HEARING A GRINDING NOISE AND PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. UPON LOOKING UNDER MY VEHICLE I WAS SHOCKED TO FIND THE SHIELD THAT COVERS THE PLASTIC GAS TANK WAS ROTTED THROUGH. THE ENTIRE BOTTOM OF THE GAS TANK IS NOW VISIBLE AND THE SHIELD IS THE PART THAT HOLDS IT IN PLACE. I WENT TO A MECHANIC IMMEDIATELY AND HAD THE CAR LOOKED AT. WHEN THE MECHANIC PUT THE CAR ON THE LIFT HE SAW EXTENSIVE RUST AND SOME ROT UNDER THE VEHICLE ON THE FRAME. HE STATED THAT I WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE SHIELD. AS OF RIGHT NOW IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO THE GAS TANKS SHIELD BEING ROTTED OUT. THE MECHANIC TRIED TO ORDER ME A REPLACEMENT BUT HIS SUPPLIER SAID THE PARTS ARE NO LONGER BEING MADE. THE ONLY WAY I COULD GET ONE WOULD BE FROM A JUNK YARD AND MOST OF THE PARTS IN THERE WOULD MOST LIKELY BE ROTTED AS WELL. AND FEEL WRONGED BY ISUZU. I WOULD LIKE TO FILE THIS COMPLAINT AGAINST THEM AND EXPECT A RESOLUTION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. I WOULD BE PERFECTLY HAPPY GETTING THE CAR FIXED, BUT I DO NOT WANT TO WAIT MONTHS FOR THAT TO HAPPEN. REAR SUSPENSION BROKE CAUSE FRAME TO TWIST. FRONT WHEELS WENT ONE WAY AND BACK WHEELS WENT ANOTHER WAY. I WAS ON THE FREEWAY AND THE REAR CONTROL ARM ON THE DRIVERS SIDE BROKE, CAUSING ME TO GO INTO ANOTHER LANE. I WAS LUCKY AND THERE WAS NO VEHICLE IN THIS LANE. I WAS CLOSE TO HOME AND WITH MY VEHICLE DOG- TRAILING I WAS ABLE TO VERY SLOWLY MANEUVER IT HOME. IT IS USELESS AND SITTING IN MY GARAGE AT PRESENT

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V436000 (SUSPENSION). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000.

VEHICLE FRAME IS COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT. CAN PUT MY ENTIRE FIST THROUGH IT. I HAD A MECHANIC LOOK AT IT AND SAID THE VEHICLE SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN AS A SAFETY PRECAUTION. HAD ISUZU DO THE RECALL A FEW YEARS AGO AND I DON'T KNOW HOW THEY DIDN'T BUY BACK THIS VEHICLE. VEHICLE HAS 78K MILES ON IT AND IN PRISTINE SHAPE OTHER THAN THE FRAME. I DONT KNOW HOW THEY HAVE NOT BEEN SUED FOR THIS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 160,000.

I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT WHEN I HEARD A POPPING SOUND AND THEN THE SOUND OF SOMETHING DRAGGING. I LOOKED UNDER THE CAR AND THE GAS TANK SHIELD FELL OFF AND IT WAS DRAGGING. I PULLED IT OFF AND MANY LARGE PIECES OF RUST FELL OFF OF THE RODEO. I NOTICED THAT THE FRAME WAS EXTREMELY RUSTING. I WAS ABLE TO POKE MY FINGER THROUGH THE FRAME IN MANY PLACES. THE CAR IS NOW PARKED IN MY GARAGE AS IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT ISUZU HAS NOT BEEN FORCED TO RECALL ALL OF THESE VEHICLES. I FEEL THAT THERE SHOULD BE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT RELATED TO THE USE OF LAMINATED STEEL FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE FRAMES AND THE RELATED CORROSION PROBLEMS. *TR

WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY MY ENGINE SHUT OFF, THEN TURNED ON AGAIN , REVVING THE ENGINE UP AS THOUGH I WAS PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL HARDER. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN ABOUT FIVE MILES FURTHER DOWN THE ROAD. HAS CONTINUED TO HAPPEN OFF AND ON AT DIFFERENT INTERVALS. WHEN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS GO OFF I CAN HIT THE STEERING COLUMN JUST BELOW THE KEY AND THE VEHICLE WILL RESTART AND THE PANEL LIGHTS COME ON AGAIN. *TR
