In June 2021 at approximately 168,000 miles the engine suffered catastrophic engine failure while driving. I was forced to replace the engine at my cost as it was out of the original warranty. Thr lifters shut down the engine and caused it to completely turn off the vehicle while in motion. It is available for inspection. Has not been confirmed by dealer. The code read cylinder 1 misfire but the lifters were not functional. The seizure of the engine and full stop of the vehicle while in motion nearly caused a 3 car pile up and a close collision into a fire hydrant as the steering locked and emergency brakes were not functional. There was no other warning lamps or messages offered prior to the shut down.

HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR OVER 2 YEARS TO HAVE MY "KILLER" TAKATA AIRBAG REPLACED....
AIRBAGS NEED TO BE UPDATED DUE TO THE TAKATA FLAWS
Crash
4 injured
WAS DRIVING AND STABILIZATION GOT TURNED TURNED OFF. THE ENGINE POWER GOT REDUCED. DECREASING THE CAR'S POWER DRAMATICALLY THEN EVENTUALLY NOT DRIVABLE. THIS IS VERY VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO MAKE A SMOOTH LANE CHANGE TO THE SIDE TO STOP THE CAR. BUT IF I COULDN'T AND THERE WAS A LOT OF CARS, THIS WOULD OF CAUSED A MASSIVE ACCIDENT. I FEEL FROM MY RESEARCH, GMC SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE AND FIX THIS! VERY ANGRY BECAUSE IT HAD HAPPENED TWICE NOW!!!
