AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:PASSENGER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
Daimler Vans USA, LLC (DVUSA) is recalling certain 2007-2009 Freightliner and Dodge Sprinter 2500 and 3500 vehicles. These vehicles are equipped with certain air bag inflators assembled into the passenger frontal air bag modules used as original equipment or replacement equipment. In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the passenger frontal air bag, these inflators may rupture due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to absolute humidity and temperature cycling.
Remedy: DVUSA will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger side frontal air bag, free of charge. The recall began on September 29, 2017. Owners may contact DVUSA customer service at 1-877-762-8267. Note: This recall fully supersedes recall 15V-354 and partially supersedes recalls 16V-379 and 17V-025.

Daimler Vans USA, LLC (Daimler Vans) is recalling certain model year 2007-2009 Dodge Sprinter 2500 and 3500 vehicles manufactured July 1, 2006, to July 31, 2008, 2007-2014 Freightliner Sprinter 2500 and 3500 vehicles manufactured July 1, 2006, to July 1, 2014, and 2010-2014 Mercedes Benz Sprinter 2500 and 3500 vehicles manufactured July 1, 2010, to July 1, 2014. Upon deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture.
Remedy: Daimler Vans will notify the Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner owners and Fiat Chrysler will notify the Dodge owners. The respective dealers will replace the driver frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began March 31, 2017. The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Sprinter 2500. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact stated that on one occasion, while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and decelerated to 40 MPH, almost causing a crash. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the EGR valve had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The recalls are for 2016-2015 airbags component. I had called every dodge dealership within my 50miles distance and mercedes benz and they dont have the part to perform the repair or they mention they have no space for the vehicle. There never been any accidents. Its just a recall from Mercedes/mopar
I have a Mercedes Sprinter Van that has a Dodge Vin number and no one wants to provide the replacement of the Airbag in the vehicle. Mercedes says its a Dodge and the Dodge Dealership in Freehold said they can not work on it since it has a Mercedes Emblem on it.
The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Sprinter 2500. The contact stated that while self-inspecting the vehicle, he noticed that both rear axles were detached. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who informed the contact that both rear springs had a cracked eye on the rear axles. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to the NTSA Campaign Number: 08V347000 (Suspension). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 224,000.
I am reaching out for assistance in resolving a passenger air bag issue in my 2008 Dodge Sprinter RV (Case 84229129 for codes R49 and S14). Fiat/Chrysler(FCA) notified us of a recall associated with both the driver and passenger airbags in September, 2022. We took the vehicle to Bob Brady Chrysler in Decatur, IL for service at FCA’s recommendation. The driver side air bag was replaced without incident. After ten days, Bob Brady advised us they could not complete the repairs and would need to ‘open a Star case’ for escalation. I contacted FCA and was advised they would assist me in finding another dealer to fix the passenger air bag and opened case 84226749 within 5 days on opening the case. We went and picked up the vehicle. The paper work at the time of pick up clearly states, “…with codes present in the vehicle, there is the possibility that in the event of an accident, the airbags may not deploy.” FCA did not respond to the opened case and when we reached back out to them, we were advised the case was closed. Their records indicate both passenger and driver airbags have been repaired and are in working order. When I disputed this, FCA further advised I would need to readdress with Bob Brady as another dealer would not be available to complete the repairs. The SRS warning light remains on within the vehicle. I have attempted contact with Bob Brady’s service manager on several occasions without a response. I am reaching in with a request for assistance to help resolve the issue with the airbag repair.

ACCORDING TO DODGE, "AN INFLATOR RUPTURE COULD RESULT IN METAL FRAGMENTS STRIKING AND POTENTIALLY SERIOUSLY INJURING THE VEHICLE OCCUPANT(S)." A SIMILAR RECALL WAS ISSUED FEBRUARY 10, 2016 FOR THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG. I'M VERY CONCERNED THAT DODGE HAS FAILED TO ADDRESS THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG ISSUE AFTER NEARLY ONE YEAR. "TAKATA RECALL" - AT THIS TIME NOTHING HAS HAPPENED. APPROXIMATELY 6-8 MONTHS AGO WE RECEIVED NOTICE OF THE RECALL. A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO I SPOKE WITH THE SERVICE MGR. (KIRK IRVINE) AT JEEP-CHRYSLER OF ONTARIO REGARDING THIS RECALL. AT THAT TIME WE WERE NOTIFIED THAT THEY WERE STILL AWAITING PARTS TO HANDLE THE RECALL. ON 2/23/16 I SPOKE WITH WILLIAM OF NHTSA AND WAS GIVEN A CASE NUMBER (10837780). ON 3/2/16 I CONTACTED WITH NICK AT AT THE CHRYSLER RECALL ASSISTANCE CENTER AND WAS TOLD PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. I THEN CONTACTED NHTSA AND WAS GIVEN THE PHONE NUMBER TO DISCUSS HAVING THE AIRBAG INFLATOR REMOVED OR DISENGAGED. I WAS GIVEN DIFFERENT CRITERIA THAT THIS WOULD BE PERMISSIBLE. HOWEVER, WE DON'T SEEM TO FALL INTO ANY OF THESE CRITERIA. WE LIVE IN SO. CALIF. WE HAVE A TRIP PLANNED TO SEVERAL PARTS OF TEXAS IN APRIL OF THIS YEAR. BUT, WITH THE SAFETY ISSUE OF THIS VEHICLE (IT IS AN RV CONVERTED BY ROADTREK), WE DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT TO TEXAS OR USING IT IN ANY WAY HERE AT HOME. BASED THE FACT THAT INDIVIDUALS HAVE ALREADY LOST THEIR LIVES DUE TO THE PART NEEDED, I FEEL I SHOULD BE ABLE TO HAVE THE DEVICE REMOVED OR DISENGAGED AT THE MANUFACTURERS EXPENSE. I DO NOT FEEL I AM BEING UNREASONABLE. I PAID PLENTY OF MONEY FOR THIS VEHICLE AND WOULD LIKE TO FEEL SAFE WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. A LONER VEHICLE WOULD BE OUT OF THE QUESTION BECAUSE IT IS AN RV. OF COURSE, IF CHRYSLER OR TAKATA WOULD LIKE TO PAY FOR OUR AIRFARE, RENTAL CAR EXPENSE, ETC. FOR TEXAS, I WOULD BE HAPPY TO TAKE THEM UP ON THAT. THE BOTTOM LINE IS, I NEED THIS RESOLVED BY REPLACEMENT PARTS INSTALLED OR THE DEFECTIVE PARTS REMOVED.
