The anti lock brake system malfunctioned, the ABS, ESP/BAS and traction control lights are on. It kicked a code C2116 which reads ABS pump motor supply low voltage. I took it to a brake shop and they said the pump motor needs replaces but I would have to find one since they don’t stock it. I call several Dodge dealers and was told the part is discontinued and no longer available. I searched on line for one and the only one available is a used one on eBay. Also if you research this it is a common malfunction on this year and other Dodge/ Chrysler vehicles. Anti lock brakes will not work until this is fixed and no parts available . Thank you

I WAS DRIVING OUT OF THE CITY ON A STREET THAT CHANGES FROM 25 TO 35 MPH, I BEGIN TO ACCELERATE AND THE CAR STALLS AND THE ETC LIGHT ILLUMINATES. THEN WITH MORE FORCE ON THE PEDAL IT ONLY GOES UP TO 10 TO 15 MPH. THE CAR SHAKES AND BEGINS TO ACT WEIRD HARD TO STOP TO MAKE A TURN INTO A PARKING LOT. I'VE ALMOST WAS FORCED WHILE BRAKING TO PULLED IN FRONT OF CARS OUT OF MY CONTROL DUE TO THE JUMPING AND SHAKING OF THE CAR. I THEN LET IT TURN OFF AFTER PARKING. I SHUT OFF ALL ELECTRIC DEVICES RUNNING ON THE CAR. I THEN TURN OF THE FAN FOR AC AND HEAT. I THEN CONTACT A LOCAL INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE CAR WAS DRIVEN BACK WITH NO STALLING NO LIMP MODE BUT THE LIGHT WAS STILL ONE. ONCE IN THE SHOP HE RAN THE CODES ALL 4 CODES CAME ON FOR ETC BUT THE LIGHT THEN GOES OFF. THEN IT WAS CLEARED FOR A SOLID 30 MINUTES. I THEN DRIVE HOME FROM THE SHOP NO LIGHT UNTIL 5 MINUTES AFTER AND NO STALLING AT THE TIME AND PARKED MY CAR IN MY DRIVEWAY. I CALLED THE MECHANIC TO LET HIM KNOW OF THE PROBLEM HAD OCCURRED AGAIN. WORKING ON PRICE FOR ME TO REPAIR. I'VE SEEN POSTED THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE AND HAPPENS RANDOMLY TO PEOPLE. I ALSO SEE THAT THE ONE PART WAS LATER UPGRADED. SUGGESTING THE ORIGINAL ETC IS FAULTY. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND WAS TOLD THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE AND THAT THERE IS NO RECALL CURRENTLY BUT I MAY OR MAY NOT GET A LETTER IN THE MAIL. I ASKED IF THERE IS AN INVESTIGATION OR A RECALL GOING ON AND WAS TOLD THAT SHE WOULD NOT KNOW OF THIS INFORMATION. YET THIS WAS THE RECALL NUMBER FOR CHRYSLER. I WOULD NOT DOUBT THEY WERE AWARE OF THIS AND COVERED IT UP WITH THE UPGRADED PART TO HIDE THE FACT THAT IT WAS FAULTY FROM THE BEGINNING.

I PULL OVER TO THE SIDE AND THE CAR BEGINS TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY UNTIL I PUT IT IN PARK. WHEN IN PARK, THE CAR IDLES TO ABOUT 2500 RPM. I'VE DONE A BIT OF RESEARCH AND IT APPEARS COUNTLESS PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AT THE SAME MILEAGE WITH THIS VEHICLE. ACCORDING TO THEM, IT IS CAUSED BY THE ELECTRONIC TROTTLE CONTROL THAT SEEMS TO BE IMPOSSIBLE TO FIX.
2009 DODGE AVENGER RPMS WOULD RISE AND FALL 200-300 AT IDLE. EXHAUST/MUFFLER WOULD RATTLE. HAVE BEEN TO MULTIPLE SHOPS AND THEY CANNOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. IT IS TAKING LONGER TO START UP. THE ALTERNATOR WAS REPLACED 2 MONTHS AGO. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED LAST WEEK. YESTERDAY, IT WAS CHECKED BY AN AUTOZONE EMPLOYEE FOR CODES AND NOTHING CAME UP. I STARTED THE CAR AND IT QUICKLY DIED THERE AFTER. DROVE IT AROUND ALL DAY AFTER THAT AND NOT A PROBLEM. TODAY IT HAD A VERY ROUGH START, RPMS WENT ABOVE 2000 AND BACK DOWN TO ABOUT 400, CONSTANTLY, AND CAR WAS SHAKING A LOT. I BACKED OUT OF THE GARAGE AND WHILE I APPLIED THE BRAKES, IT ALMOST DIED. I BARELY GOT IT IN PARK BEFORE IT DID DIE. THE WHOLE TIME THE CHECK ENGINE AND ETC LIGHTS STAYED ON. THIS IS A FIRST FOR BOTH TO STAY ON. I HAVE A 2009 DODGE AVENGER PURCHASED IN 2012. YESTERDAY I WAS IN A SCARY SITUATION AND COULD HAVE SERIOUSLY HURT A CHILD DONE THE DODGE. YESTERDAY MORNING THE CAR WAS DRIVING FINE I PARKED, TOOK THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION, AND STARTED TO GET OUT OF THE CAR. THE CAR STARTED ROLLING BACK I JUMPED IN THE CAR HIT THE BRAKE, BRAKES DID NOT WORK HAD TO PULL THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP. AT THE TIME THERE WAS A CHILD RIDING BY ON A BIKE THANK GOD THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WORKED. I PULLED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE JUST IN TIME. TRUST ME THAT WAS REALLY SCARY TOO ME BECAUSE OUT OF ALL THE CARS I HAVE HAD THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED TO ME. AFTER I GOT THE CAR TO STOP I TRIED TO START THE CAR IT WOULD NOT START. I HAD TO CALL MY BROTHER IN-LAW TO LOOK AT THE CAR AT CHECKING SEVERAL THINGS AND WATCHING SEVERAL YOU TUBE VIDEOS WE NOTICED THIS HAS BEEN AND ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE DODGE AVENGER. HE FIGURED IT WAS SOMETHING WITH THE SHIFT STICK AND OR ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. HE GOT THE CAR STARTED BUT IT WOULD ONLY GO IN REVERSE AND WHEN HE TURNED THE CAR OFF IT WOULD NOT CRANK BACK UP. HE TRIED TO RESET THE CAR BY UNHOOKING THE BATTERY CABLE BUT THAT DID NOT WORK. AFTER SEVERAL TRIES HE COULD NOT GET THE CAR TO CRANK BACK UP. I WAS STUCK AT THE ONE LOCATION FROM 9AM TO 9PM. I HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK AND GET IT TOWED TO MY HOUSE. I REALLY WANT TO KNOW WHAT CAN BE DONE, BECAUSE I DO NOT FEEL THAT I SHOULD HAVE TO COME OUT OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR SOMETHING THAT HAS BEEN AND ONGOING ISSUE AND IS A SAFETY HAZARD. NOT ONLY COULD I HAVE SERIOUSLY INJURED THAT CHILD, I COULD HAVE INJURED MYSELF. I REALLY ENJOYED DRIVING MY DODGE AVENGER THOUGHT IT WAS THE BEST CAR. PLEASE HELP!
