UCI-FRAM Group is recalling certain LS1328 ignition Switches sold as Wells LS1328, Duralast LS1328, Airtex 1S6097, and Carquest 53-27479, and LS1497 Ignition Switches sold as Wells LS1497, Duralast LS1497, Airtex 1S10961, and Carquest 53-27967, for use on various General Motors model and model year vehicles during repair and replacement of the original ignition switch. The weight on the key ring and/or road conditions or some other jarring event may cause the affected ignition switches to move out of the run position, turning off the engine and disabling the air bags.
Remedy: UCI-FRAM Group has notified its purchasers to quarantine and return all inventory. Any switches already installed in vehicles will be replaced by GM dealers as part of NHTSA recall 14V-047, free of charge. UCI-Fram's purchasers should contact UCI-FRAM Group at 1-800-890-2075. Remedy: General Motors will notify owners, and for vehicles that were built with the defective ignition cylinder and have not previously had the ignition cylinder replaced with the redesigned part, dealers will replace the ignition cylinder and cut and, if necessary, re-learn two ignition/door keys for each vehicle. For vehicles that were built with the redesigned ignition cylinder or had the ignition cylinder replaced with the redesigned part, dealers will cut and, if necessary, re-learn two ignition/door keys for each vehicle. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2004-2006 and 2008-2009 Chevrolet Malibu, 2004-2006 Malibu Maxx, 2009-2010 HHR (non-turbo), 2010 Cobalt, 2008-2009 Saturn Aura and 2004-2007 Ion, and 2005-2009 Pontiac G6. In the affected vehicles, there may be a sudden loss of electric power steering (EPS) assist that could occur at any time while driving.
Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will perform one of four bulletins. Parts are not currently available. GM expects to send an interim notification around May 28, 2014. When parts are available, owners will be mailed a second letter to come in to have the applicable bulletin applied. Bulletin 14115 covers model year 2004-2007 Saturn Ion, 2009-2010 Chevrolet HHR and 2010 Chevrolet Cobalts. Dealers will replace the EPS motor. Bulletin 14116 covers model year 2004-2006 Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu Maxx, 2005-2006 Pontiac G6 and 2008-2009 Chevrolet Malibu, Pontiac G6 and Saturn Aura built from March 1, 2008, through June 27, 2008. Dealers will replace the torque sensor assembly. Bulletin 14117 covers model year 2008 Chevrolet Malibu, Pontiac G6 and Saturn Aura built from February 1, 2008, through February 28, 2008. Dealers will replace the torque sensor assembly and EPS motor controller unit. Car is leaking gas on left rear side. Corrosion and rust due to fuel line.
Although this vehicle is a 2010 HHR, it has less than 23000 miles on it, has been garaged kept and maintained impeccably. The warning light blinks at random and then the power steering fails. It does not matter the speed of the vehicle and happens at random. Once turned off and restarted, the power steering works for approx 5 minutes and then fails again. There was a recall on 2009-2010 HHRs for sudden loss of power steering issued in 3/2014, recall # 14V153000. This recall is not VIN# specific. However, when I contact the dealer for repair of this vehicle, I am told that the recall does not pertain to my VIN#, so its not covered. NHTSA has more than 135 complaints about HHRs since 10/2019 with more than half of them being steering issues. This clearly is a wider recall issue than originally thought. My vehicle is inoperable due to this safety issue. I filed a complaint with GM. They told me it was not their issue and I could pay to have it diagnosed and fixed at a dealership. This is a GM issue due to the amount of complaints about this exact problem from other owners. I am hoping GM is made aware of the widespread issues and does the right thing, issuing another recall for all 2009-2010 HHRs regardless of VIN#.

Gas lines rusted out after purchase.
Rear door locking system failure. Door opened suddenly and without warning while driving endangering occupants. The door locking mechanism will not allow the door to remain secure and closed when shut. Online search revealed many similar incidents occurring for other drivers.

While operating vehicles , the smell of fresh gasoline was coming into cabin. Made left hand turn to pull over and check gas cap, as I turned the rear of my car spun around like I was on ice. Almost hit pedestrians, my rear tires soaked with gasoline…scary. Gas pouring out from real lines next to Muffler.

In this state, depressing the brake pedal more than around 30-40% would turn the brake lights off, even with the brake pedal fully pressed. Furthermore, with the brake pedal pressed to a moderate level, the cruise control is able to be engaged, even with obvious brake pressure being applied. This defeats the cruise control disengagement feature and the cruise control system will fight against the braking system to maintain speed instead of turning itself off as it seems to rely solely on the brake lights for the automatic disengagement. This issue is quite dangerous as this seems to happen quite often with the brake lights, but I cannot find any sort of consistent scenario that causes these issues to occur.

Noticed gasoline dripping under the vehicle just behind the driver side rear door. Upon investigation discovered steel fuel line has corroded between a plastic support bracket and fiber heat shield. This seems to be due to a design that allows moisture and road debris (salt) to accumulate, leading to corrosion. This could lead to total loss of power to the vehicle, and poses a risk of fire while in operation or while parked.
Fuel line leaking, driver side, forward of rear wheel. A very dangerous and common problem, one more of the many similar complaints on HHR-COBALT build platform spanning multiple years. This vehicle has only 60,000 miles.

The Fuel Lines needed to be replaced because gasoline was leaking from the lines. Zaabs Full Service Auto Repair of Bloomington, IL 61701 at 711 E. Lincoln Street replaced the Fuel Lines. We noticed a bad fuel/gasoline smell and finally saw it leaking. No warnings other than the smell. We took the vehicle 2010 Chevrolet HHR LT into Zaabs for diagnosis and replacement. We leave on a busy street and a fire or explosion could have easily happened due to people tossing cigarettes. Problem appeared in January 2023. The power steering failed, it is available for inspection. My safety and the safety of my two very young children were put at risk. Suddenly as I crossed the rail road tracks and attempted to turn right onto another street, the power steering went out of my vehicle. I narrowly avoided a collision with another vehicle stopped at the stop sign on the street I signaled to turn down. It hasn't been inspected by anyone yet. The power steering light came on right as it failed and I had no assisted power steering, manual only.
My vehicle is the 2010 HHR with electric assist steering. As with thousands of other Chevrolet HHRs, my power steering abruptly stopped working. It is the EPS system that is notorious for stopping abruptly and was and is the subject of a recall. However, GM refuses to repair mine like they have over a hundred thousand others with the same exact issue. They state that my vehicle, though exactly the same as thousands and thousands of others subject to the recall, is not included in the recall. . . How can this be? Same exact issue. . .
Gas is pouring onto the driveway on the left rear side when the vehicle is running
I smelled a strong odor of gas behind the right rear wheel of my 2010 Chevy HHR. Two different mechanics verified that the fuel lines had rusted through and need to replace. The first mechanic said that the car was unsafe to drive, and that he was not qualified to replace the lines. I had the vehicle towed to a Chevy dealership would confirmed that the lines rusted through. Google search states the cost to replace the fuel lines including labor will be around $1,034. The dealership is charging me $1,754! During my Google search, I saw that many other owners of Chevy HHRs have had the same issues. I wish for Chevy to reimburse me the expense to replace the fuel lines.
Strong smell of gasoline on left side of vehicle in front of rear tire. Gasoline is present when viewed from underneath. Looks like leakage is in area where 4 lines (supply/vent/brake?/brake? ) are mounted together...or certainly in that area. I do see on line that this is not a new issue with owners. Have just started the process of getting quotes on this repair.

I have replaced the lower control arms four times within the last 3 years that part is defective there are supposed to last 10 years. It affects your steering when breaking. This part needs to be recalled immediately. The last time I replaced the lower control arms was April 16th 2021.

Fuel line leak at drivers side rear wheel well. Same leak that has been reported by others.
Fuel lines have corroded causing fuel to leak. Located at rear wheel of driver's side near exhaust pipe.
My fuel line is leaking like so many others. Driver side near the rear wheel well in the bracket that holds the lines to the body. I also owned a 2007 Chevy hhr that had the same issue, both started at just over 150,000 miles. While the leak on the 2007 was minor the leak one the 2010 has gotten so bad that the vehicle will no longer idle.
The gas pedal would stick and the car would not decelerate when removing pressure from it. This happened a couple of times on separate days but would unstick and decelerate fairly quickly. Then today the gas pedal not only became stuck but it accelerated and I had to hit the brakes to get it to stop accelerating.

Fuel line leaking right in front of rear driver side tire. Puddles up. Steady leak. And strong odor of gasoline in and outside of the car. Gets me woozy at times. It also gets on my tires and affects steering if I was parked on pavement for a while it puddles back to my rear tire. And makes me worry about a fire. Right in the back seat where a car seat would be. Because I was driving through my yard a while back and my family was burning some limbs and stuff. All at once I get flagged down where it has caught fire to my car. Luckily I put it out before it did any permanent damage. But it is not safe for sure.

aBOUT 3 WEEEKS ago I went to exit my 2010 Chevrolet HHR ls and the drivers door handle broke off in my hand. This caused me to climb over to the passenger side to exit. After wards I realized that I could use the power windows to roll the window down to open door from outside. If in the case of a crash the power windows would not work thus trapping me and all of my occupants in the vehicle. I checked on the hhr owners web site and many owners complain it is a constant problem . Some carry extra in vehicle to combat the problem.

The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and informed the contact that her VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 155,000.

My 2020 HHR (which I utilize while in Florida) developed a fuel leak on the driver side just in front of the rear tire. This fuel leak is right alongside the exhaust system which created a very unsafe scenario that could have easily resulted in an explosion and / or fire while driving this vehicle. I did some research and it appears that vehicles like mine are all experiencing a similar problem. I took my car to the Chevy dealer and it cost me $940 to fix this problem. With so many owners of similar vehicles having the exact same problem I believe this should have been covered under a General Motors recall and those who had to pay to get this fixed should be reimbursed. I have attached a copy of the receipt for the work done by the Chevy dealer for your informtion. I did notice that an investigation has been underway to determine if GM should recall vehicles for this problem. Had I been driving on the highway and not realized there was a gasoline leak right by the exhauset pipe it could have been a very tragic situation for me and my family. My power steering is going out randomly making it unsafe to drive, I see there's a recall for 2010 chevy hhr power steering which is exactly what's happening with my vehicle. When I turn it off and turn it back on it will work for a minute then click and go back out, yet when my vin was ran the recall doesn't show up for my car even though the recall states 2010 chevy hhr.. mine clearly has the same issue as the other recall yet you guys haven't put it on my vin so it can be fixed properly.

Near 110,000 miles on my 2010 HHR SS I began noticing a gasoline smell and leaks under the car, and the engine was sputtering and nearly conking out under acceleration. The repair shop diagnosed it as a rusted and leaking fuel line under left rear seat, and a failed high pressure fuel pump probably due to the fuel leak. Fuel lines were replaced. Cost was too high to replace the HP fuel pump at this time.

While driving, my power steering fluid light indicator came on making it really hard to turn. After parking and turning the car on the steering wheel went back to normal. I had my mechanic to check my steering fluid and I did not need any added. This has happened 3 times while driving my car and I refuse to drive my car. Is there a recall on this the power steering?

The vehicle was examined by an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel lines needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were not yet contacted regarding the failure. The failure mileage was 133,000.
