The X7 engine shut down twice while driving. Both incidents took place in busy traffic, engine shut down with warning sound and error message flashed up on screen and disappeared so quick that no one can remember. As the result, the vehicle was stuck in the middle of busy traffic. Within less than 1 minute, the vehicle can be restarted and driven as normal. The vehicle was brought to BMW dealership since the 1st incident. Dealership implemented software update only. The 2nd incident happened roughly 7 months after the 1st incident. Currently it's with dealership again since the 2nd incident. At the moment of writing up this case, the service advisor told me replacing the 12V battery would solve the issue. However, there's no more details provided regarding how a low battery would cause engine shutdown. This is the concerning part as BMW seems not able to root cause the underlying issue which could cause serious safety risk for occupants of this vehicle.
The contact owns a 2024 BMW X7. The contact stated that while his wife was driving, the braking system malfunctioned, and the vehicle hesitated to respond upon depressing the brake pedal. Additionally, the steering wheel became extremely difficult to turn. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where a software update was performed, and the vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the failures later recurred intermittently, rendering the vehicle unsafe to drive. The contact was informed that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V104000(Electronic Stability Control(ESC), Service Brakes, Hydraulic), but the recall remedy parts were not available. The failure mileage was 10,000.

I purchased 2020 4 PM BMW X7. Since the time I purchased, my air conditioning has not worked properly. Due to living in the hot state of Florida and it’s been an ongoing concern with my family as I have six kids. Bmw is denying that there is any problem with my air-conditioning and always reports that it’s a normal range. All you have to do is one search on the Internet to know that I am not alone in this issue. I finally took my vehicle to another dealership that duplicated by complaint on day one. Bmw is denying any problem. Any liability any responsibility even though the vehicle is underwater They know they have a manufacturer defect and if they admit there’s a problem they would be forced to recall all of these vehicles that us consumer spent a lot of money on.
Sunroof shattered/exploded while driving at highway speeds. No rock, stone or pebble hit the sunroof or vehicle when it exploded.
SUMMARY: INTEGRATED BRAKE: The Integrated Brake (IB) system may not have been produced by the supplier according to specifications. If the IB system was not functioning properly, a warning lamp and message will be displayed in the instrument cluster. In August, this recall was expanded to include additional potentially affected vehicles. SAFETY RISK: In some cases, there will be a reduction in power assist braking, which could lead to an extended stopping distance and increase the risk of a crash. The Antilock Brake System (ABS) and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system may not function, which could also affect braking performance as well as vehicle handling and control. However, fully mechanical braking is not affected and, if the IB system is not functioning properly, the parking (emergency) brake will be automatically activated to aid in braking performance and help maintain vehicle stability and control. REMEDY: The Integrated Brake (IB) system will be replaced for free by an authorized BMW center which should take about two to three hours. RECALL STATUS: Recall INCOMPLETE. Remedy not yet available This recall was issued on February 12, 2024, more than a year ago and the manufacturer has informed that the parts to fix this issue is on backorder. This is a safety issue.

Outstanding recall that the manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy in a timely manner.
While driving northbound on [XXX] near West Greenwich, RI with my wife and two young children, the front sunroof glass of our 2024 BMW X7 spontaneously exploded at highway speed. There were no overhead structures or nearby vehicles that could have caused an impact. Conditions were slightly rainy. Approximately one week before this event, the vehicle displayed a warning that the sunroof was “not initialized.” I followed the reset procedure, and the message cleared. It’s unclear if that alert was related, but the sunroof’s failure seems more than coincidental. The explosion caused loud noise, exposure to weather, and panic inside the cabin. Fortunately, the cloth sunshade was closed and minimized glass intrusion. We pulled off the highway, documented the damage, and temporarily sealed the roof using materials from a local hardware store. BMW has not yet confirmed whether this repair will be covered under warranty. We were forced to fly home due to lack of a functioning vehicle. I am reporting this because it was a serious safety issue that could have resulted in greater harm under slightly different circumstances. Please investigate this issue further as it appears similar to other spontaneous sunroof failures reported in recent years. The contact had not yet received a recall notification for the vehicle owned. The contact requested to be removed from the recall distribution list for the incorrect VIN, and for the correct VIN to be added. The local dealer was contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue but offered no assistance.

Cannot safety drive the car with the major recall on the braking system. I have slid through intersections trying to brake - thankfully no other cars were present at the time. No remedy or solution has been offered and BMW refuses to order the part or allow trade-in on the vehicle.

2024 X7 with 13k miles on it roughly. Have had multiple drivetrain malfunction issues that caused car to not start. Dealer first did a software update which i dont believe fixed anything. second time the issue happened they said it was due to the car battery not being charged enough. car has had multiple issues related to low charge. BMW says its due to me not taking the car on long enough drives. However the charging on the car is inconsistent and faults related to the 48volt charging system which have stated (repair required soon) 224F8F were cleared by the dealer and not investigated. Car has many times exhibited low battery issues with electronics being sporatic and unreliable. car will sometimes charge battery on short drives and other times will not charge the battery on long/normal drives. charging is inconsistent. Many people on BMW forums have had drivetrain malfunction errors [XXX] and in some cases bmw has replaced transmissions. however i believe an investigation is warranted as the dealership in my case is just clearing codes and not repairing the car. i believe there is an issue with the charging system on the car thats causing errors in other modules/sensors based on all the issues i have had with this car. i have brought the car in for at least 10 service visits. BMW continues to clear codes and not perform thorough investigation and look at history of vehicle. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I’ve had multiple issues starting with a left tail light/left brake malfunction. Took my vehicle into Sewell Grapevine and they replaced the left taillight and module. After picking up my vehicle, I began having issues with my dash within a couple days of the repair mentioned above. The assisted parking began turning on by itself when the vehicle came to a complete stop. This happened multiple times while driving. I have multiple videos. I uploaded a screen shot. The dash also turned black. Returned my vehicle to Sewell, they said they recalibrated the rear view mirror and checked the connections. On [XXX] while driving home, the vehicle had an inability to drive sos call emergency services malfunction come up multiple times. The car lost all power and the steering wheel was trying to correct the vehicle until you lifted your foot off the gas peddle. This also happened multiple times while spring in excess of 70 mph on the freeway. As of today, Feb 26, 2025, my vehicle is currently at Sewell in Grapevine, Tx with no plan from the dealership on how to correct these issues. This is the second X7, same body style, that I have owned with serious safety issues like this. Sewell Grapevine had to buy back the first vehicle as they were unable to repair the first one. Car presents the forward collision mitigation and lane departure warning are inoperable. Errors popped up 10-20 times while driving a short distance. These are repeat errors that BMW has not fixed. As i drove the car kept alerting me that the systems were offline. They would come back online and go back offline as i drove. Car has been to dealership around 8-9 times and BMW says there is adamant that nothing is wrong with the car even though this error has been happening since I have had the car at around 1000 miles. Currently at ~13k miles now.

The door lock actuator for the front driver door failed twice. The first time it failed, the car would not unlock from the outside. All other doors would unlock. I had my kids in the back of the car and I was trying to get inside the car to drive and it wouldn't open. I had to pry off the cap covering the keyhole on the door with a screwdriver and then insert the blade key and manually turn the actuator. I got this failed unlocking on video and submitted it to BMW. They claimed they could not replicate and that there was no issue with the door and gave me the car back without fixing anything. A short time later I was parked at the grocery store, this time inside the car, and the car door wouldnt open. I pulled on the inside handle and there was a lot of resistance to it. I had to yank on it pretty hard and finally the door popped open. I then tried to close the door but there was no resistance on the latch and the door would no longer close. I called BMW roadside and they instructed me to pull the handle on the outside three time and the inside three times and this would fix the door. This did not work and they had to tow the car. I had to drive the car home while holding the door closed because I needed to get to our other car and move the car seats over for my [XXX] and [XXX] . BMW currently has the car now and they said the actuator has failed and they are replacing it. BMW refused to fix the car when presented with a video of the non-functioning door latch/lock until it left the car in an unsafe manner where the car door would swing open and never close. My car had an accident and it was hit by another car on the left side, but the camera which was assumed to record the accident, it did not. Fortunately no one get injury. But I have to pay with my insurance. BWM did not admit such fatal error. I talked to them but they said I can sue them.... 1. I went to BMW Darien, the specilist said the camera only worked when being hit by the front, but it is not true, there are 4 cameras which record 360 degree around. 2. I assumed whenever an accident happened, the camera system will be activated, but the BMW people said because the accident was not severe, then the sensors did not work. But when checking my car, the whole left side was damaged, it is not a minor hit. Thus I question how severe would it be sufficient to trigger the system. 3. I have not been to the dealer. 4. The insurance just checked the damage and send me an estimated amount to repair the car. 5. there is no message, or because I was not the driver, I did not know.
Crash
The vehicle brakes have stopped working on this vehicle three times. The Integrated brake system has been worked on several times with loss of brake power happening while I have infants int he car with me several times. The BMW dealership, BMW Fort Washington in Pennsylvania, ahs failed to repair it several times despite requests. I lost braking power today and almost hit two different vehicles which I barely avoided by taking dangerous evasive action. Numerous warning lights came on inside the vehicle: 1) "Drive carefully. Brake System" 2) "Parking Brake" 3) "Reduced Driver Assistance" 4) "Recall or Technical Campaign" This is the third time this has happened. I was in less than two weeks ago and the B<W dealership assured me the vehicle was safe to drive despite the warning lights being on and the recall light being active. They told me nothing to worry about and this happened this morning. This is unacceptable.

The car is unsafe to drive due to a brake recall safety issue. The dealer instructed me to leave the vehicle and obtain my loaner car, as they do not provide this service despite the car warranty. Additionally, the electronic system turns on by itself, causing the car to turn on and off, making it unsafe to drive.

While driving the vehicle I received a "drivetrain malfunction" message and the vehicle engine stopped and refused to start. The vehicle message further indicated that the vehicle was not driveable to contact the service center. The vehicle has been previously serviced for this same issue and the dealer indicated it was a known issue, but there was no solution offered by the manufacturer at this time. There was no initial warning this would occur or ability to safely pull over before it occured. The event occured in the middle of the roadway while driving, and there not sufficient time to safely exit the roadway, and the immediate decrease in speed was a significant safety issue to ourselves and other vehicles on the road.
