2017 BMW 328D

I started to hear a grinding noise from the center-underside of my car about 4 months ago. I did some research and found that many BMW customers had experienced the same noise and the diagnosis was a parking brake line that drops on the main driveshaft after breaking free of the plastic support that is supposed to hold it in place. A video with sound of of the problem can been seen/heard here - [XXX] I had my BMW dealer look into the problem and his diagnosis was the same. The plastic clip that holds the parking brake cable in place had broken. And when the cable drops it rubs on the driveshaft making the grinding noise. A copy of the estimate to repair is attached. So far this failure has not caused any problems with either the parking or drivability of the car. The concern that I have is that the clip failure could lead to either a brake failure or a failure of the driveshaft. The problem seems to occur for a number of BMWs and it appears to be a significant safety problem that should be addressed by BMW. Headlight vertical aim control malfunction, TONS of f series BMWs affected.

Was driving down highway going 70mph, I heard a loud pop above me and realized the front sunroof section shattered. Luckily it was not open and shade protected from glass. Glass has gone everywhere on the highway and scratched up the roof and my windshield also cracked.

Hi, my vehicle has a recall, 21v586, for high pressure fuel pump. I suggest this recall should be elevated to a mandatory recall. When my fuel pump failed it immediately lost power while driving. I was fortunate to maneuver the car across traffic to a safe location. I consider myself a defensive and conscious driver. Had this been my wife or someone else I'm not real confident that they would be able to safely maneuver the vehicle as there was no warning. Moreover, my car has been unavailable since 5/19 when this occurred. This pump had a such a catastrophic failure that it sheared a mounting bolt holding it to engine. Metal fragments were displaced throughout the fuel system. Most recent estimate to replace fuel tank, fuel lines, low pressure pump and high pressure pump stands at $14,000+. I was just informed on 6/21, that the engine will need to be removed to extract mounting bolt of the high pressure fuel pump. At this point, I don't know when my car will be returned to me.

NO, to this day, there is no official warning signal method to alert motorists of the intention to perform, and execution of a U-TURN maneuver. THE SOLUTION: Include U-TURN Signal devices and methods as part of the FMVSS No. 108. An effective/productive/economical and financial U-TURN Signal solution can be attained by the implementation of Patent # US 10,919,442 B1; Devices and methods for motor vehicle U-TURN signaling. The U-Turn signal solution offered under Patent # US 10,919,442 B1 is highly achievable at a low cost to implement. The patent uses a combination of existing and approved lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment, such as headlamps, reverse lamps, turn-signal lamps, and side lamps modules used in concert to generate a universally applicable signal that communicates to other travelers that a U-TURN maneuver is intended and under execution. The signaling device can be implemented via the use of a U-TURN signal switch that activates the light modules of a vehicle that correspond to the direction of the U-TURN maneuver. The contact owns a 2017 BMW 328D. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V907000 (Fuel System, Diesel) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The dealer had been notified and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

On February 5, 2022 while driving on 70 mph on I64 my vehicle shut down due to the recall causing the the high-pressure fuel pump to shut down causing the engine to stall and a message that there was a powertrain malfunction and the vehicle would not start back or go into gear. The interstate was very busy and I could have been hit by a tractor trailer or another vehicle at high speed. I received a recall notice that stated there was a remedy available November 2021, but when I called the dealership I was told there were no parts available and they would call me when parts became available. A month went by and the issue with the recall happened leaving me in a very dangerous situation. The car was towed to Moses BMW on 2/6/22 and over 30 parts have been ordered. I have been told that there is no estimate on when the parts would arrive. There is a second safety recall with no remedy that has been present October 2018 and Moses BMW sold me the vehicle in June 2020. I received a notice January 2022. This recall is for the EGR Cooler developing an internal leak possibly causing the vehicle to catch fire. I have asked BMW to buy the vehicle back due to safety reasons and the long wait time to fix the one recall and no fix for the other, and they refuse. In addition, they sold me a vehicle that was under recall and according to S.1634 - Used Car Safety Recall Repair Act that was against the law.

High Pressure Fuel Pump started going out on 15 April 2021 while under manufacturer warranty. Took to Moss Motors BMW in Lafayette LA. BMW found High Pressure Fuel pump issue, replaced fuel rail and sensors. Check Engine Light came back on 21 May 2021. Took to BMW of Mobile for inspection. BMW could find no issues and returned car on 5 June 2021. Check Engine Light came back on 5 June 2021 and car stopped function. Had towed to BMW of Mobile. BMW of mobile found metal shavings in Fuel tank, indicative of High Pressure Fuel Pump failure. BMW of Mobile cleaned tank, replaced compensation flow valve, and returned car on 5 July 2021 (now out of manufacturer warranty period). Check Engine Light came back on 22 July 2021. Limped car to Moss Motors in Lafayette, LA. Informed that car has High Pressure fuel pump failure and researching issue. BMW researching issue and as of 1 Oct 2021 still has no resolution.

RECALL CAMPAIGN # 18V-755 EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR). I HAD WAITED 7 MONTHS TO GET THE FIX COMPLETED. I WROTE A LETTER TO THE CEO OF BMW USA. THEY HAD A REPRESENTATIVE ASSIGNED TO MY CASE. I TOLD THEM THAT THIS DEFECT IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR MY FAMILY AND GAVE THEN 30 DAYS TO FIX IT WHICH EXPIRED ON JULY 15TH. THEY INSPECTED IT WHICH DOESN'T SHOW FAILURE BUT IT IS STILL A CONCERN AS IT SAYS - "IT WOULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A FIRE". THEY STILL DON'T HAVE A FIX THAT HAS BEEN BROADLY ROLLED OUT. I AM IN FEAR OF DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE ASKED THEM TO BUY BACK MY VEHICLE AS I AM THE ORIGINAL LESSEE. THEY HAVE REFUSED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AS THEY ARE PRIORITIZING THE FIXES TO THEIR RESALE VEHICLES AND NOT VEHICLES ALREADY ON THE ROAD. IF YOU NEED COPIES OF MY CORRESPONDENCES WITH BMW I WILL BE HAPPY TO PROVIDE IT. *JS

THIS RECALL NHTSA RECALL NUMBER 19V349 HAS BEEN OPEN ON MY VEHICLE SINCE APRIL AND BMW HAS NOT REPAIRED MY VEHICLE YET. I WENT INTO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT YESTERDAY AND ASKED THEM TO COMPLETE THE REPAIRS AND THEY SAID THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO COMPLETE THE REPAIRS. I HAVE A 10 MONTH OLD BABY THAT SITS IN THE BACK SEAT AND DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THE CAR DUE TO THE RECALL. I AM IN A LEASE, HOW DO I GET OUT OF THIS CAR?
