Vehicle completely lost power and quite running in the middle of the desert in Arizona. This relates to Saftey Recall 93c. I had to have the car towed and repaired in Scottsdale, AZ. I have been told that this repair (which was expensive) might not remedy the problem and it could reoccur. It's been over six months since the recall was issued and yet no remedy is available and I have not received reimbursement for the repairs I had to have done to get my vehicle running. I think six months is enough time given that I cannot trust the reliability of my vehicle due to this serious problem. When a vehicle just "turns off" in the middle of the freeway it poses a huge safety risk both to the occupants and to other drivers in the area. So my complaint is that it's taking far too long for Stellates to produce parts to remedy this problem.

I was driving on the highway and my car starts sputtering, I figured I pull over and turn my car off and on. My car seemed fine and I continued to drive home from work. As soon as I got off the highway my car completely shut off mid ride, stalls out and my steering wheel locked up. I was able to get my car turned back on and get back home. Filled with anxiety at least. Luckily I have a code reader in my car as soon as I pulled into my driveway and the codes showing where P008A which is directly related to a fuel pump/ fuel delivery issue. This happened on February 28th. I have been scared to drive the car since

the vehicle has read off warnings seconds from simply stopping and cutting off in traffic. this has happened at least two times now. it may say full throttle service and flash lights before simply slowing down and the check engine light flashing while on the highway unable to speed up no matter how far down on the gas pedal I push. has been taken to dealer several times. problems started soon after purchasing vehicle. On 3/1/2026 while leaving church service, my family and I were on a major highway with the speed limit at 65 mph. The vehicle just slowed down without giving any power and could not get it up to the speed to continue with traffic. This vehicle could put me and my family at risk for a possible dangerous situation.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Nov 24, 2025
While driving my Alfa Romeo, the vehicle experienced a significant malfunction involving the engine and power-train system. The vehicle will not accelerate properly and repeatedly goes into limp mode, resulting in a sudden and severe loss of power, especially while driving on the highway. The engine warning light is illuminated, and the vehicle hesitates, jerks, and fails to respond. This malfunction created a direct safety risk to me and other drivers on the road. The loss of acceleration occurred while traveling at highway speeds, making it difficult to merge, maintain traffic flow, or avoid surrounding vehicles. The problem has been reproduced multiple times, and the vehicle consistently enters limp mode when attempting to accelerate. The issue has been observed during normal driving conditions and does not appear to be a one-time event. The vehicle and its components are available for inspection by the manufacturer, dealer, insurance representative, or any required agency. At this time, the vehicle has not yet been formally inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance company, but I am prepared to provide access for evaluation. No warning lights and symptoms prior to the complete failure.
FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Nov 21, 2025
My 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia, VIN [XXX] , is currently disabled and inoperable at the authorized dealer, Alfa Romeo Fiat of Daytona (Service Advisor: Kevin Chapman). The vehicle is subject to the active and known Safety Recall 93C (Low-Pressure Fuel Pump). My vehicle is experiencing a total loss of motive power and engine stall, which is the exact safety hazard described in the recall. Furthermore, the initial failure of the low-pressure fuel system appears to have caused secondary consequential damage to the expensive High-Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP), and the vehicle is also exhibiting a severe and recurring electrical defect (new battery dying, random dash warnings/brake lights flashing). The manufacturer, FCA/Stellantis (Customer Care Case #XXX...), and the dealer are engaging in a runaround to deny basic safety recall provisions: 1. Refusal to Cover Consequential Damage: FCA Customer Care stated that if the issue is 'not the 93C recall then it will all be customer pay,' which conflicts with NHTSA guidelines requiring the manufacturer to remedy the primary defect and all damage proximately caused by it. 2. Refusal to Provide Loaner/Rental Car: FCA stated the loaner is up to the dealer, and the dealer stated it is up to the diagnostic. This runaround has created an unreasonable delay in the repair of a federally mandated safety recall, leaving the owner without transportation for a disabled, unsafe vehicle. I am requesting NHTSA intervention to compel FCA/Stellantis to: a) Authorize a complimentary rental car/loaner until the vehicle is fully repaired. b) Provide a formal commitment that all damage proven to be a direct, proximate consequence of the 93C fuel pump failure will be covered at no cost. 2. Dear NHTSA, I am writing to formally report a concern regarding the handling of reimbursement under Safety Recall 93C (NHTSA 25V-586) for my 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia. On March 11, 2025, several months before the recall was announced, I paid $3,995.59 out of pocket at Foreign Cars Italia Charlotte to repair severe driveability issues, including: Loss of engine power while driving “Electronic throttle control” and “check engine” warnings Difficulty accelerating, reduced fuel flow, and stalling risk These symptoms are directly consistent with the defect described in Safety Recall 93C, which involves the Fuel Delivery Module (FDM) and the risk of power loss due to heat-related fuel flow restriction. I recently received a recall notification letter for the 93C issued in September 2025, I contacted Alfa Romeo Customer Care and filed for reimbursement (Reference Number [XXX]). Despite providing full documentation — including the paid invoice and recall notice — my claim was denied. Their written response (attached) stated: “The vehicle is outside of its warranties… Parts and labor that were completed are not related to any recall including 93C.” This reasoning conflicts with the federal reimbursement provisions under 49 CFR §573.13, which require manufacturers to reimburse owners for pre-recall repairs that address the same defect, regardless of warranty status. My repair addressed the same malfunction now acknowledged as a safety defect, and I bore the full cost before the recall was publicly announced. I respectfully request that NHTSA review this matter and encourage Stellantis / FCA US LLC to re-evaluate my claim in accordance with recall reimbursement regulations. This situation raises both a consumer fairness issue and a safety concern, as the vehicle exhibited the same dangerous loss-of-power condition months before the manufacturer recognized it as a defect. Thank you for your time and assistance in reviewing this case. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U

Dear NHTSA, I am writing to report a serious safety incident involving my vehicle. On [XXX] at approximately [XXX], while driving to an extracurricular activity for my [XXX] child, my vehicle displayed the following warning messages: “Service Engine,” “Service Electronic Throttle Control,” and “Start/Stop Unavailable.” Immediately after these warnings appeared, the vehicle shut off and shifted into neutral. I lost the ability to steer, creating a highly dangerous situation. I was on a busy road approaching an interstate entrance and had to react quickly to avoid a potential accident. Fortunately, I was able to maneuver the vehicle safely to the side of the road, but I believe this malfunction presents a serious risk to public safety and should be investigated. Please let me know if additional information or documentation is needed. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Multiple times the check engine light will come on while driving. It shuts engine down at any speed. This usually happens during warm up phase of vehicle. You have to pull over and cycle power off and on multiple times before it starts and runs again. It has stalled in intersections causing traffic delays. Once it starts and codes clear it typically runs fine for long periods. Symptom codes include throttle system failure, fuel pump low pressure, miss fire, bcm communication error. Cycling off and on clears codes and car operates normally until next cold start. Symptoms seem to worsen when driving in n or a mode. Symptoms seem to worsen when remote starting vehicle.

Sudden loss of power while at 45MPH. Was luckily able to pull off into a parking lot. Vehicle was then unable to restart with clear no fuel being pulled. Code reading showed low fuel pressure and fuel pump errors. Was then towed.

On September 1, 2024, I was driving my Giulia over a busy 4-lane overpass. An error code related to the fuel system flashed on the dashboard, and the car stopped nearly instantly in the lane where I was driving. Upon seeing the error code, I was not able to pull over into the breakdown lane - it was that sudden. Attempts to restart the vehicle failed. My wife (who was a passenger) and I quickly walked off the overpass to relative safety and called for a towing service. The police initially thought that the car was left in the way of traffic in the middle of a travel lane, rather than being pulled over into the breakdown lane. I had to explain that my Giulia stopped too quickly for me to be able to pull into the breakdown lane. The vehicle was towed to a local mechanic that same day (September 1st, 2024) who confirmed the failure to restart the vehicle but declined to perform any work, referring me instead to Alfa Romeo service. The vehicle was towed to an Alfa Romeo dealership on September 23rd, 2024, where it sits to this day (November 1st, 2024). The dealership reports that the failure is due to a known issue - a defective fuel pump and associated control module. The dealership reports that they have the new fuel pump on hand, but that the associated control module is still unavailable. The dealership is unable to provide a date when the control module will become available. Looking back, I shudder at the thought that my wife and I were less than 1 minute from getting onto the I495 interstate.

On September 1st 2024 we were faced with a serious problem with our Alfa Romeo Giulia 2.0T leaving us stranded. The culprate was a defect in the fuel pump on which led to the complete stop of the car during our trip abroad. After driving 900 kilometers without problems, various error messages suddenly appeared on the dashboard, including “Have engine checked”, “Start/stop function not available” and “Service throttle control”. A few seconds later, the engine stopped responding to the accelerator pedal and misfires appeared, which caused the engine to come to a complete stop and the power steering noticeably deced. Fortunately, we were just able to get to safety, but the car could not be started from that moment on. This incident occurred while we were far from home and caused significant inconvenience and stress. The diagnosis of our authorized Alfa Romeo dealer was: defective fuel pump and fuel pump module, with replacement costs of €1,294. What is striking is that at the same time another Giulia, with the same year of construction, was at the same dealer with exactly the same problem. In our case, because we were driving on a fairly empty road, we did not incur any injuries or damage to our vehicle or fellow road users, but of course this could have been very different in a busy traffic situation. We think this is a serious safety issue.
