The vehicle has developed a persistent and progressively worsening rattling noise from the engine during cold starts, along with intermittent rough operation. The symptoms are consistent with a malfunction or defect in the engine timing chain system, including possible timing chain stretch, timing chain tensioner failure, or related internal engine components. This condition presents a serious saf
... ety concern because the timing chain controls engine valve timing. A failure or severe degradation of this system could result in sudden engine stalling or complete engine failure while driving, increasing the risk of a crash without warning, particularly in traffic or at highway speeds. The issue began as an intermittent startup rattle and has steadily progressed in frequency and severity. No consistent warning lights were present in the early stages, which may delay driver awareness of an impending failure condition. The vehicle has been inspected by a dealership service department, and the concern was acknowledged, but no repair or corrective action has been performed. The condition remains unresolved and continues to progress. Based on owner reports and service feedback for similar vehicles equipped with this engine, this issue appears to reflect a potential widespread defect pattern affecting the timing chain and/or tensioner system in this engine family, rather than an isolated incident. Multiple reports describe similar symptoms occurring around similar mileage ranges, suggesting a possible systemic reliability defect. The vehicle is currently still operable but is operating with a known and worsening engine defect that could result in catastrophic engine failure without warning.Read more

Component/System: The fire department determined the cause of the fire to be accidental due to an electrical malfunction within the vehicle. The most extensive damage was located in the engine compartment, though damage spread to the passenger compartment as well. The vehicle is available on request. The vehicle caught fire while parked on a street. No injuries or displacements occured. However,
... the vehicle became "well involved" with fire, creating an active emergency that required emergent fire department response and suppression. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Since the vehicle receive so much damage, it would only be the emergency response and origin determination by Lubbock Fire Rescue. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The vehicle was inspected on-scene by Lubbock Fire Rescue (Unit E7). The fire department noted no signs of vandalism or tampering, concluding the cause was accidental. The police was also on the scene as well. Were there any warning messages? The owner stated they had driven the vehicle around 20:30 (8:30 PM) the previous evening and it had been parked since. The fire did not break out until approximately 05:13 AM the following morning. There wasn’t any warning lamps or unusual symptoms l present during or prior to that final drive. Summary: On May 28, 2026 the 2018 Nissan Rogue internally combusted. Subsequent inspection of the vehicle revealed fire damage in both the passenger compartment and the engine compartment, with the most severe and extensive damage concentrated in the engine bay. Fire officials found no evidence of tampering or vandalism. I noticed a Check Engine Light flashing on my dashboard while driving on May 27, 2026. The vehicle suddenly losing power is extremely unsafe for me and my family, and also others on the road. This is a repeated P1326 code which happened before in 2021 and 2024. Based on the receipts I have from the previous inspections from the dealer, the Bearing Clearance Test (BCT) was not done in 2024, but w
... as performed in 2021. The knock sensor was replaced in 2024 and I was denied engine replacement. This is a repeat failure of the same condition under Hyundai Motors TSB T3G Theta II. Once again, my safety was at extreme risk as the engine lost its power suddenly. It could have easily lead to a crash. In 2024, Hyundai and the dealer declined an engine replacement despite me showing the safety concerns and my possible eligibility for an engine replacement for the underlying condition.Read more

To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally request that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigate and expand Recall 23V-770 concerning defective steering gear assemblies to include 2022 BMW G42 vehicles. I currently own a 2022 BMW G42 with approximately 20,000 miles that is experiencing the same steering gear failure described in Recall 23V-770. My vehicle is now just
... outside of BMW’s factory warranty period, and I have been informed that the repair costs are estimated to be nearly $10,000. Due to the severity of the steering issue, I do not believe this vehicle is safe to operate. After researching the recall and repair information, I discovered that the 2022 BMW G42 utilizes the same steering system and identical replacement part numbers associated with the recalled vehicles covered under Recall 23V-770. The symptoms, repair procedure, and affected steering gear components are identical. I believe the exclusion of the 2022 model year may have been related to the relatively limited number of vehicles shipped to the United States during and immediately following the COVID-19 pandemic, rather than the absence of the defect itself. In my opinion, the defect clearly exists in 2022 production vehicles as evidenced by my current steering gear failure. This issue represents a serious safety concern because steering gear malfunction can impair steering responsiveness and vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash. A steering system failure on a vehicle with only 20,000 miles is unacceptable and strongly suggests a manufacturing or component defect rather than ordinary wear and tear. I respectfully request that NHTSA: Investigate whether 2022 BMW G42 vehicles contain the same defective steering gear assemblies identified in Recall 23V-770; Review the component and part number similarities between the recalled vehicles and the 2022 BMW G42 platform. BMW has already determined this is the problem affecting this vehicle. Thank youRead more

Incident date: May 25, 2026
I am reporting a safety concern involving BMW vehicles equipped with the B58 Technical Update (B58TU) engine, commonly found in model years 2019–2021. These vehicles utilize a variable-displacement engine oil pump containing an internal thermoplastic adjusting component responsible for regulating oil pressure. Field failures are increasingly being reported in which this internal component fractu
... res, resulting in sudden loss or instability of engine oil pressure. The failure frequently occurs during cold-start operation in low ambient temperatures. When the component fails, oil pressure regulation becomes erratic or is lost entirely. In many cases, drivers receive little or no actionable warning prior to engine damage or vehicle disablement. Reported precursor symptoms include inability to electronically measure engine oil level, abnormal oil pressure behavior, or sudden drivetrain malfunction warnings. Failures may rapidly progress to engine shutdown or severe mechanical damage caused by oil starvation. Loss of lubrication can cause the vehicle to become disabled without warning while driving or shortly after startup. This creates a safety hazard, particularly when vehicles become immobilized in active traffic or during winter conditions the cold is when they fail the most, where occupants may be exposed to freezing temperatures while awaiting assistance. Replacement of the oil pump requires extensive disassembly of the vehicle and repairs commonly exceed $6,000–$8,000 for just the pump, assuming the motor is unharmed. Failures have been reported across multiple production years, and affected vehicle population boundaries remain unclear. Because this condition can result in sudden vehicle disablement without adequate warning especially in the cold, I believe this issue warrants investigation as a potential safety-related defect.Read more

All brake systems warning lamps illuminated while driving on the highway, the vehicle was pulled off the road and shut off, brakes were visually inspected and all fluid levels were examined and everything was intact. The technicians suggested a scope of the engine to rule out a leaking head gasket but I could not afford it and monitored my coolant levels, had a pressure test done at a trusted mechanic and everything was fine for approx 3 months. Absolutely no coolant was observed on my driveway, the coolant level remained optimal on visual inspection.
