On XXX, while at a residential complex in [XXX], I got into my 2025 Porsche Cayenne and gently closed the door. Upon closing the door, the rear window spontaneously shattered completely. The conditions at the time were as follows: • Outdoor temperature: approximately 85°F — well within normal operating range • No prior chips, cracks, or visible damage to the glass before the incident • N
... o external impact, projectile, vandalism, or theft attempt of any kind • No vehicles or people were in the immediate area at the time of failure • The only action taken was a normal, gentle closing of the car door This was not a minor crack. The window shattered completely and without warning. Flying glass debris posed a serious safety hazard to myself and anyone nearby. We were fortunate no injuries occurred. 2022 Silverado 1500 LTZ w/6.2L 38082 total miles. First engine replacement due to seizure at approx. 17,782 miles around June/2025, The vehicle lost all propulsion and stopped running while sitting at a stop sign at a four way intersection during a really bad thunderstorm, Luckily the intersection was on a declining hill and i was able to coast it into nearby parking lot .I'm a senior citizen wi

The tow couldn't be completed by the assigned wrecker service because it was busy with other tows because of the severe storms. The following afternoon, it was towed to the local dealership for service. It took approx. a week before i was finally informed that the engine seized with explanation.. Repair took just over 3 months to complete under warranty/recall at dealership, didn't get vehicle back until the beginning of September 2025. Engine replacement Inspection passed by GMC on the recall inspection at local dealership. Oil changed from factory 0W-20 to 0W-40 around January or February 2026 if I'm not mistaken. Driving down the highway on 06/03/2026 and all the sudden loss of propulsion. Zero warning! Lucky I was able to coast onto an exit ramp without getting in an accident with hwy. traffic! Luckily i was able to find a church parking lot and asked a person that i knew to give me a ride home. Because it was after business hours, i waited till the local dealership opened the next morning and spoke with service personnel and they arranged a tow to take it to the dealership. As of the end of the business day 06/05/26 I have no word from dealership on the status of vehicle, but the vehicle experienced the same symptoms, a sudden total loss of power and no start, just a single click and no electrics. I feel that the inspection testing and oil change does not address and/or fix the root cause of these engine failuresRead more

I am filing a complaint regarding my 2021 GMC Yukon due to a serious engine failure involving the camshaft, lifters, and crankshaft. The vehicle began exhibiting engine ticking and knocking noises, rough idle, loss of power, and reduced performance. These symptoms progressively worsened and ultimately resulted in major engine damage. The vehicle was diagnosed with failed lifters and camshaft damag
... e, which required extensive repairs. In addition, the crankshaft failed, resulting in catastrophic engine damage and making the vehicle unsafe to operate. These are critical engine components that should not fail prematurely under normal driving and maintenance conditions. The most serious concern is safety. The engine's loss of power and deteriorating performance created the risk of sudden failure while driving. A vehicle that loses power in traffic, while merging, crossing intersections, or traveling at highway speeds can create a dangerous situation and increase the risk of a crash. Occupants and other motorists could be placed at risk if the engine fails without warning. My vehicle has been properly maintained and serviced. Despite regular maintenance, these major engine components failed unexpectedly. I am aware that other owners of GMC and Chevrolet vehicles equipped with similar engines have reported comparable camshaft and lifter failures, suggesting a potential defect rather than an isolated incident. The failure resulted in significant repair costs, loss of vehicle use, and concerns about the long-term reliability and safety of the vehicle. I believe these engine failures may indicate a manufacturing or design defect affecting 2021 GMC Yukon vehicles. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate camshaft, lifter, and crankshaft failures in the 2021 GMC Yukon and determine whether a safety-related defect exists that warrants corrective action or a recall.Read more

On November 20, 2025, my 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 equipped with the 3.0L Duramax diesel engine began experiencing intermittent engine overheating conditions. Concerned about a potential safety issue, I contacted a GMC dealership and was advised that because no diagnostic trouble codes were present, there was nothing to diagnose or repair and that I should continue driving the vehicle. Over the fol
... lowing months, the overheating condition continued intermittently. On May 24, 2026, while driving on the highway, the vehicle suddenly overheated, displayed fault code P1098, and entered reduced power ("limp mode"). The vehicle lost normal performance and acceleration while traveling in traffic. This created a significant safety hazard because the vehicle was unable to maintain normal highway speeds, increasing the risk of a rear-end collision or other traffic accident. The loss of power occurred while driving and without sufficient warning, leaving the vehicle unable to safely perform as expected in highway traffic. After researching this issue, I found numerous reports from other GMC and Chevrolet owners describing similar overheating, coolant control valve, thermal management system, and P1098-related failures. Many owners report symptoms involving engine overheating, reduced engine power, and limp mode operation while driving. I am concerned that this may indicate a broader defect involving the vehicle's cooling system and thermal management components. The vehicle exhibited overheating symptoms for approximately six months before the final failure occurred. Additionally, I understand that certain GM vehicles have been subject to service actions involving coolant control valves and thermal management system components. Given the similarity of symptoms, I am concerned that the overheating condition reported in November 2025 may be related to the same type of failure mechanism, yet my vehicle has not been included in any recall or special coverage program.Read more

My car has following issues recently. 1. Tire pressure monitoring system failed for all four tires. 2. Electrical door lock systems failed. All these symptoms match the BCM recall for the model and year of my car. But my VIN is not included with the recall. I believe Ford did not include all impacted car in this recall.

Recently, the 2022 Outback my mom drives has been having some strange electrical issues. About a year-or-so ago the battery in her outback died. Not unusual in Arizona. I replaced it with an upgraded AGM (Interstate) version—same group, same cranking power. No issues. Recently, after an oil change at the dealer, she called back to report that a “Check Engine” light had come on. She was told
... that she probably had not put the gas cap on properly. Gas cap was on properly; light went off the next day. A few days later the Auto Stop/Start (ASS) feature started acting up (not functioning). A few days later the ASS turned the engine off and did not restart automatically—in the middle of heavy traffic during rush hour. The ASS light came on. The engine started manually, and we got it home. Battery was dead the next morning. I charged it up and took the car to the local mechanic for a quick assessment. The battery was fine, charging, but the car threw a Code: P0871 Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor Switch. This mechanic told us that there was a Technical Service bulletin through Subaru that addressed this issue but was also aware that it could be caused by the ASS killing the battery OR other electronic modules which fail to enter sleep mode—which would also cause random lights to come on. An appointment was made to take the car into Peoria Subaru, thinking it would be something they could diagnose easily. It had previously been in for the routine oil change with the inspection. When we dropped the car off, I provided the Advisor the code and a associated TSB for the code. We got the car back that day and were told the following: The tech found that the car currently has a “Aftermarket” AGM battery. Subarus require a “Enhanced Flooded Battery” which would explain multiple codes found for loss of communications and parasitic battery drain--for systems that don't go to "sleep" when the car is not running.Read more

Component: the second-row power seat and its control system, including the pinch-protection function, on a 2026 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid. The seat and vehicle are available for inspection on request. After the recall remedy (software update) for NHTSA Recall 296 (power seats) was applied, the second-row power seat self-actuates a rearward over-extension. When its pinch protection detects a car seat
... installed in the second row, the seat moves rearward on its own, further into the third row, and cannot be stopped once it starts. This sharply reduces third-row legroom and can squeeze or harm a third-row occupant. Safety risk: On April 21, 2026, while an adult operated the second-row seat to make enough room to reach into the seat, the seat — instead of stopping once the buttons were released — kept moving rearward on its own, past its original position and into the third-row foot and leg space, compressing and hurting the child's legs and feet. The movement was automatic, gave no warning, and could not be halted, creating a crushing and pinching hazard to any person or object behind the seat. Reproduced and inspected: A franchised Hyundai dealer inspected the vehicle and reproduced this behavior per Hyundai's Safety Team's request. Per the official repair order, the seat "over-extends approximately 15 degrees further into the third row," "cannot be stopped from moving to the extended position," and creates a smaller third-row area that "could potentially harm or squeeze an occupant in the third row." Warning indicators prior to failure: none.Read more

My 2016 GMC Terrain 2.4L Ecotec first stalled while idling at a red light in Raleigh, NC. I restarted it and it sounded different, so I drove it home. The next morning it would not start. The failure occurred at approximately 69,939 miles with no meaningful warning. The dealer’s diagnostic report states there were no current relevant codes and no relevant codes in history. The dealer documented
... major timing-system failure: timing chain tensioner failure, timing chain guide failure, a timing chain guide bolt pulled out of the cylinder head, aluminum contamination in the cylinder head/oiling system, and engine replacement recommended. The vehicle was found unsafe to operate. This vehicle regularly transported my family, including my children. If the stall/no-start failure had occurred at highway speed, while merging, or in heavier traffic, it could have created a serious crash risk. The oil was maintained outside the dealership network and had been serviced before failure. I also topped off the oil shortly before this occurred. The 2.4L Ecotec engine family is known for oil-consumption issues, yet this vehicle gave me no direct warning that oil consumption had reached a dangerous level. A reasonable owner would not know to check oil every day when there were no relevant stored warning codes. Other NHTSA complaints involving 2016 GMC Terrain vehicles describe similar patterns: oil consumption, no warning lights, sudden stalling or no-start conditions, timing-chain failure, and engine replacement recommendations. I am filing because this appears to be an ongoing safety risk involving oil consumption without adequate warning, timing-chain/timing-guide failure, internal contamination, and sudden engine failure. I request NHTSA review this issue for investigation or recall expansion before this failure mode causes a preventable serious crash, injury, or fatality. The vehicle was inspected by a GMC dealer and remains unrepaired.Read more

While driving today I came to a stop sign, stopped. Proceeded to go and the Forward collision camera and surround camera kicked on and played a tone with nothing in front of me. Then as I proceeded to get up to speed the cameras and surround would not shut off. Or allow me to exit the screen. The camera finally shut off after about 10-15 minutes of driving at highway speeds. Three recalls have now been issued across four years Post-fix engines are still failing for the new tundra Toyota is still issuing new part numbers and design revisions for 2026 The NHTSA filing explicitly references engine configuration as a pressure driver No complete remedy exists for the second recall as of today The probability this is purely a manufacturing debris issue is effectively zero a
... t this point. As one insider on BobIsTheOilGuy summarized: "Toyota is not telling the public the entire extent of the issue because all vehicles with that engine are experiencing failures and because it's at least partly a design flaw issue — even the replacement motors will fail." BobIsTheOilGuy What Toyota has is a design that operates with insufficient margin at #1 main, which means it will continue to surface failures even in "clean" engines under the right combination of load, heat, and mileage — just at a lower rate than the heavily contaminated early production units. That's why there's no clean fix. You can't recall your way out of a physics problem. This is a engine defect. Toyota needs to buy back all these vehicles.Read more

While driving on Thursday, June 4, 2026, the vehicle experienced a sudden and complete failure of the electronic braking/power brake assist system. Simultaneously, multiple safety warnings illuminated on the dashboard display, including a persistent service wrench icon, a traction control warning light, and a lane-keep assist indicator light. Due to the loss of brake assistance, the vehicle was un
... safe to operate and had to be towed/driven directly to a licensed dealership for emergency diagnosis. The dealership technicians subsequently inspected the vehicle and reported that the entire electronic braking system had suffered a total failure and is completely non-functional. Despite multiple technical service bulletins and recalls issued for similar vehicle builds regarding electronic brake boost interruptions and mechanical brake vacuum pump failures, I am being forced to pay for these critical safety repairs out of pocket. A sudden loss of braking power poses an immediate crash hazard, and I am filing this report to urge the NHTSA to investigate why this manufacturing defect is not covered under an active safety recall for this specific vehicle configuration.Read more
