Full Narrative

On July 2, 2008, a Pakistan International Airlines B777, registration AP-BHX, encountered a hail storm during descent to Malpensa Airport (MXP), Milan, Italy. The aircraft was substantially damaged. There were no injuries to the passengers and crew onboard. The flight originated in Karachi - Jinnah International Airport (KHI), Karachi, Pakistan.

The investigation is being conducted by the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority Safety and Investigation Board. The NTSB has assigned an Accredited Representative to assist the investigation under the provisions of ICAO Annex 13 as the Country of Manufacture and Design of the airplane. The US Federal Aviation Administration and The Boeing Company have been designated as advisors.
