Full Narrative
On June 1, 2010, approximately 1123 central daylight time, a Bell Helicopter model 412EP, Mexican registration XA-HSI, made a successful water landing after a loss of tail rotor control in the Gulf of Mexico near Campeche, Mexico. The helicopter was en route from an offshore oil rig to a land base in Campeche, Mexico. The two pilots and eleven passengers were not injured. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident.
The helicopter floats were deployed and maintained the aircraft afloat for approximately 1 hour and 37 minutes before it was capsized for undetermined reasons.
