Full Narrative

On April 27, 2009, at approximately 1638 local time, a Boeing 737-2K9, serial number 22505/815, Mexican registration XA-MAF, operated by Magnicharters as flight 585 landed with main gear retracted on runway 28 at the Guadalajara-Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla International Airport, Mexico. The airplane was substantially damaged and a small fire broke out on the left engine. There were no injuries among the 8 crew members and 4 minor injuries among the108 passengers, who exited via the slides. The flight was a domestic scheduled passenger flight from Cancun, Mexico, to Guadalajara. According to initial reports, the flight crew reported an unsafe main gear indication while on approach, and held in order to troubleshoot and burn off fuel for approximately 30 minutes. The gear trouble could not be resolved and the crew elected to land on runway 28 without main landing gear. The airplane touched down on both engine nacelles and the nose gear.
