Event Location
Probable Cause
The pilot's improper landing flare, which resulted in a bounced landing.
Full Narrative
The pilot reported that, while landing, the airplane bounced on touchdown. During a second bounce, the nose gear collapsed, and subsequently the airplane impacted with the runway.
The airplane sustained substantial damage to the engine mount and firewall.
The pilot reported that there were no preaccident mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.
The airport's automated weather observation station reported that, about the time of the accident, the wind was from 310° at 6 knots. The pilot was landing the airplane on runway 35.
