While filling a 5-gallon propane tank, an employee heard a pop, left the filling area, and flipped the emergency propane shut-off switch. A fire then appeared on top of the tank, followed by an additional ignition. The employee suffered burns on the left arm and hand, left ear, and face. The employee was hospitalized.
