An employee was performing maintenance on a rotor by pushing the pin through the pin protector. The pin slid sideways instead of sliding through the protector, pinching their left middle, ring, and little fingers between the pin protector and the end cap/disk of the rotor. They were hospitalized with an amputation to their little fingertip, stitches to their middle finger, and surgery to their ring finger.
