Incident Narrative

On June 22, 2023, an employee was replacing a drop wire which connected a customer s house to a mid-span attachment point on an aerial strand. The employee placed his ladder on the strand, connected the new drop wire onto the strand next to the old drop wire. He then cut the old drop wire near the strand. The strand lunged and the employee fell about 10 feet from the ladder to the ground. The employee was hospitalized with fractures to two ribs and an elbow.
