Incident Narrative
An employee was unloading a trailer that contained empty hand trucks (dollies) for transporting chicks. The dollies are moved within the trailer using a cabling/winch system. The injured employee and a co-worker were attempting to loosen a cable on a winch in order to remove a hook from one of the dollies. The injured employee's finger was then pinched between the hook and the hand truck, resulting in a left middle fingertip amputation.
