Incident Narrative

An employee and co-workers were performing their morning fire engine checks for vehicles that would be in service that day. The employee used a ladder attached to a vehicle to climb on top of the engine and make sure items were secure. When the employee was climbing down the ladder, he fell approximately 6 feet to the asphalt below, possibly slipping due to an extra drip torch holder that was on the engine. The employee landed on his hip and his right wrist, which he used to stop his fall, resulting in a broken femur near the ball socket and a fractured wrist.
